A v late good morning to everyone, & best wishes for 2023. I read here daily, & so enjoy keeping up w/ all of you, but find it v hard to contribute much - too shy, so I must resolve to "try harder" lol.
It's misty & mild here, I like this kind of day. I'm going out now to see if the deer 🦌ate their daily veggie treat fr me last nite.

Very late post from a grey, misty and very slushy Dunblane. Seldom post but always read all your messages. Just wanted to wish everyone everyone a Happy New Year and hope you all find something however small to make you smile.

We are forecast sunnier skies from tomorrow so I hope for the best for all of you as well.

Good morning all and happy new year from Glasgow where we have a light covering of snow.

We had our toast at the bells, a few WhatsApp messages and continued to watch Slow Horses well past bedtime. A few FaceTime calls with family this morning and now, a relaxing day ahead.

Best wishes to all for a prosperous and happy 3023.

A very late Good Morning from Stockport and best wishes for a Happy New Year to you all.
Another infrequent poster but an everyday reader.
My live in GD had two friends round last night and we really enjoyed a roast beef diner followed by M&S trifle.
We then watched a film, I came to bed about nine and they carried on with the celebrations and both stayed the night.
It was a lovely evening and so nice for me.
A lazy day now with lamb chops and fried potatoes for dinner.
Have the best day and the best year you can everyone.

Happy new year. Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers (of which I’m one). Looking forward to reading your posts in 2023.

Late good morning from a damp Durham. Jetlag is still playing havoc with my body clock!
I’d like to wish all GNs a happy and peaceful 2023, with better health for many and I thank those who have shared PMs with me throughout 2022.
A special thank you to Mick for this gentle thread. I noted you sometime struggle with the journey to the JL and wonder if you could book patient transport – at least one way?
Onwards and upwards – one of my many New Year’s resolutions. X

A much later good morning from me here in a nice and sunny Northampton. Wishing all a Happy New Year (and White Rabbits Day)!

A quiet day at home yesterday reading the papers and catching up on tv (including the Agatha Christie film, Witness for the Prosecution). Enjoyed my turkey dinner in the evening and opened a bottle of fizz to have with it and see in the New Year. Watched the fireworks and then Jools Holland, which I thought was very good.

Should be going to a rugby match today, but it seems that the neighbour who gives me a lift is away, and there are no buses, so I'll be watching it from the sofa as it is on tv. Had planned on a hotpot in the slow cooker to enjoy when I came in from the cold,. but will still go ahead with that.

Have not read any of the thread yet as I am so late, so will do that now with a coffee while the Vienna New Years Day concert is on tv.

Happy New Year again!

Good morning and Happy New Year Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast. Dreamt I was Clark Gable’s girlfriend last night, My dreams lately seem full of famous people.
Sister left yesterday so now will do my own thing. Not as many fireworks around here as usual, but my DD in Doha for a couple of nights, sent me a clip of hers, v good.
Will have a tidy round and warm up my voice to sing on Tuesday. Looking forward to a quiet day after family etc visiting.
Hope you all have the best day you can.

Happy New year to you all. I too read daily but as it's normally the middle of the afternoon I can't really post a Good Morning!!!! but I love reading what everyone has planned for their day. I wish you all Health and Happiness this coming year.

Urmstongran Sun 01-Jan-23 10:41:19

Have to just share this chuckle!
Yesterday I’d come in after being downstairs in Boots. It was around 1pm. As I walked in, Himself had the tv on and he said to me “well at least I’ve seen Sydney”.

“Who’s Sidney?” was my response.

I didn’t realise he meant the fireworks display! 🤣🤣

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Madeira. This is my third attempt to write this and post.

It’s a grey day at the moment with rain forecast today but it’s pleasantly warm. We are going for a walk and this afternoon will relax in the indoor spa we are tired due to going to bed late.
Last night here was wonderful. Funchal was so crowded, noisy and colourful. The fireworks were spectacular and all around us I’ve never experienced anything like it. The streets and trees are full of lights it’s fantastic. Oh its started raining now.

I have been on Gransnet almost a year and it’s been an absolute pleasure to get to know you all in a small way. It helped me to reconnect with Grandmadinosaur after many years.
Thankyou to Mick for opening every morning.
Happy New Year to you all and I hope 2023 brings you many moments of joy.🌻🌻

What a gentle, warm, informative and welcoming site this truly is. Thank you everyone and a VERY Happy New Year to each and every one of you. I contribute seldom but visit regularly. Yep..... a lovely thread indeed.

Good morning from East London , I usually read most days but later and enjoy all the chatter. So first resolution- get going early and join in!
I live alone after DH died 3 years ago but am fortunate in having DS and family nearby. They popped in last night before heading off to friends to play board games and watch the local fireworks. GC twins are 12 and were looking forward to”staying up” My local friends are all away so I watched a bit of TV and the fireworks and went to bed but too noisy to sleep till about 1.30 ! Quiet day today but weather looks fine so hopefully a short walk . I’m leaving my decorations up till 6th, the lights cheer me up and I only received most of my cards on Friday just gone !

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, and Happy New Year to everyone, with hopes that 2023 is manageable for us all, with peace in our lives and enough laughter to keep us going!

I’m very glad I came upon Gransnet and this thread, one of the positives from Lockdown for me! I’ve met lovely people and been so impressed by the kindness, support and fortitude I encounter in so many of people’s daily posts.

Forecast snow has, thankfully, not appeared so off later for lunch and overnight stay with DD2 which means more time with another lovely granddaughter!

Feeling blessed and sending love to all 🦩🦩🦩

Happy New Year everyone.
It is dry, calm and gloriously sunny here in this corner of Sefton. DGC will be with us today.
Many congratulations on your 51st WA Thorntrees.
Best wishes for health, wealth and happiness in 2023.

Good morning all and a happy New Year from South Lanarkshire where it’s damp but not actually raining.

Thank you Mick for this thread which keeps us connected each day.

DS and family will come to us today and stay overnight. We will have the traditional steak pie meal which isn’t my favourite but they will enjoy it.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Thorntrees Sun 01-Jan-23 09:51:45

Thank you for the welcome,a bit premature saying we had sunshine as it’s just poured down- but a lovely rainbow in the sky. I will take that as a sign of better things to come.
Off now to sort out the freezer to see what is left in there before the next on-line shopping order next week.
