Marydoll

*BlueSapphire*, I have Nancy and Lee Hazelwood on my Spotify list!

Blossoming, I am a sensible woman and due to the Baltic temperatures here, I was wearing matching purple fur knickers. I am not a hussy, despite what people may think. wink

Which way round did you wear the fur knickers? Right way round or inside out ? 😂😂😂

Kalu Mon 02-Jan-23 12:10:43

Marydoll, hmm, I would have thought prevention was better than cure but your GP knows best. Pleased to hear you managed a day out yesterday Mrs. fur coat and no knickers😂 You know my sense of humour well enough not to be offended.😉

Thank you for your good wishes for DH. He is making slow but steady progress.

Good morning from a bright, dry but chilly Co Durham.
DD1 came yesterday after a night shift and had to be taken to a local pub to meet her friends of 40+years. Then required collecting from a nearby village at 10.30pm. I bit the bullet and drove, the first night time drive since Christmas 2019!!
As she is still sleeping we are being very quiet, a good excuse for doing nothing.
Hopefully back into a routine tomorrow. Exercise bike and housework
Happy Birthdays and congratulations where applicable.
Peace shattered, “mum which mug should I use” she’s only 51 😂

Good morning Mick and all from a bright northwest coast.
I need to phone the hospital to remind them of my referral for hernia, months go by as they do for everyone, also plumber.
Another quiet day which I’m glad about after so many visitors.
I have booked a couple of coach day trips and looking forward to them.
A failure at Xmas was a box of crackers which when pulled, no bang and empty inside (from a charity shop). I wondered why they were so cheap!
Will read through later and hope you have a good day.

Washing on and a brief tidy up but not much planned, though I am going to spend the afternoon with a friend finishing the jigsaw we started on Boxing Day. Definitely not too much excitement!

Love the thought of Marydoll’s purple fur coat - I wouldn’t dare as I would look like an outsize blackcurrant, but I admire the confidence.

Lots of people glad to pick up the threads of everyday life, as I will be after Wednesday, my oldest friend’s funeral.

Very belated good morning and wishing everyone a Happy New Year from the south coast where it’s a bright clear sky after days Of miserable dreary weather.
We were hoping to get out for a walk today but both have coughs and DH is in bed with a temperature. Given that he is never ever ill, this is a worry. I’m hoping it will blow over quickly. We’ve had 4 COVID jabs plus the flu jab so I’m hoping we will be ok.

I don’t post very often but I read everyday and enjoy hearing all about your lives on this friendly thread.

Happy New Year to all!

A late good morning from a sunny Lincs - for the last time. Packing is imminent for a drive over to Notts to join up with DD and DGD3 for the long haul back up to Scotland. I'll overnight at theirs before heading home tomorrow. It's been so mild here that I'm wondering how I'll be with the cold again! At least the house will be warm as I left heating on - which will be 'downgraded' when I get home.
Fifiw - welcome. My life is the opposite of yours. A year's socialising now and then back to a very quiet normality!
Marydoll, loving the purple furs!
Wishing happy birthdays and anniversaries where appropriate.
I hope everyone is setting out now on a happy and healthy 2023 xxx

Good morning from a sunny/cloudy W Kent. DH and I had a good walk yesterday followed by a good lunch, followed by a sleepless night for me. Washing day today with bed sheets and towels, family gone very quiet but of course most of them are back to work tomorrow.
Happy Anniversary to the Galas enjoy your day.
Marydoll what a lot of fun from one coat!
A peaceful day to everyone.

Ziplok Mon 02-Jan-23 10:15:32

Morning all. It’s a lovely bright one here today but cooler than of late. May wrap myself up later and go for a much needed walk.
I hope that you all have a good day.

Grammaretto Mon 02-Jan-23 10:12:40

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I slept in after an insomniacal is that a word night.
Sun, frost and blue sky
I must go for a walk before dark.

Yesterday I first footed DMiL and then my DS and DDil who cooked me a nice meal and we played board games.
DGS announced he was going to get highlights. His DM raised an eyebrow.

What a hoot Marydoll! The talk of the Steamie grin
I listened to Loose Ends with Elaine C Smith last night. Hilarious.

Welcome fifiw
Congratulations to the Galas

Hoping everyone has a good day

Good morning all from Stockport.
I am keeping up my resolution to be a more regular poster.
I had a very lazy day yesterday keeping to my bedroom.
My GD’s friends stayed all day and one stayed over again last night as they are not working today.
The laziness continued as we had a Chinese takeaway delivered.
Sadly I wasn’t impressed , we had a different supplier as my GD ‘s friend is gluten free and she gets her’s from there.
Back to the drawing board for me.
Today the decs will come down and a run round with the vacuum cleaner.
We will have the lamb chops that were for last night’s dinner.
Have the best day you can everyone.

A late good morning from a sunny ny and dry NE.
Watched the NYD concert from Vienna yesterday before having a light lunch.
Family arrived during the afternoon and we had coffee and cake.
At 6pm we had dinner, roast pork with all the trimmings, lots of roast root vegetables, savoy cabbage in the German style, sprouts and swede. One bottle of German white wine and a French red.
During the evening GD2 played the piano, she likes it when her aunt is here because she will page turn for her when she plays the Moonlight sonata. They have fun playing nursery rhymes in the style of different composers. I do wish DD lived in this country as she has so much in common with her niece.
Today I am going to rest, I am exhausted and the shoulder continues to be extremely painful which is disturbing my sleep.
Have a good day all.

BlueSapphire Mon 02-Jan-23 09:42:28

Good morning everyone from a clear and bright Northampton. Nothing really planned for today, shall be glad to return to normality and routine tomorrow.

Sorry to have missed being at yesterday's rugby match in person as we had a brilliant win, beating Harlequins 46-17, but at least I was able to watch it live on tv. No atmosphere at home though, that's what I missed! (and also the heavy sleety downpour just before the end of the match). Good match report in the paper this morning. No home matches for a couple of weeks now.

Will listen to local radio this morning as I have put a request in for a track from a favourite album - that's this morning's theme. I have asked for something from a Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood album, which late DH and I loved in our early days of getting to know each other, happy memories.......

Fully intending on being lazy again today - but may have a go at sorting one of the spare bedrooms for something to do.

Wishing all a pleasant holiday Monday.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Jan-23 09:38:06

Morning all

I have overslept 🙀. I took a sleepeeze last night and it definitely worked.

I cleared all the decorations from upstairs yesterday, today I will clear the downstairs. I will be sad to see the tree go as it really is a beautiful specimen, hardly any needles have dropped it looks the same as when we brought it in three and a half weeks ago.

Will read all your posts when I stop for coffee 🙋‍♀️🦩

Grandmadinosaur Mon 02-Jan-23 09:37:10

Your coat sounds very stylish Marydoll don’t you think there’s something about wearing a fur albeit fake fur that makes you feel a million dollars? Sadly mine no longer fits 😕

So pleased about your continuing progress Ash

Blossoming Mon 02-Jan-23 09:26:16

Good morning Mick and everyone. A cold bright morning in this corner of Lancashire, currently 2°C.

I was able to get out for a walk to the river yesterday after many weeks stuck indoors. It was very cold, still and dry. No icy patches to catch the unwary. Mr. B is taking me out today for a change of scenery.

Marydoll, I am reminded of something my mother used to say about some people being ‘all fur coat and no knickers’ though I’m sure that would never apply to your good self grin. I will keep an eye out for purple rabbits on our walk today!

May you all have a good day and a warm welcome to our new posters 🌹

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Jan-23 09:22:30

Good Morning fromS Yorks. Sunny here!

Had a nice. Chat with DS last night and Quakers was a peaceful warm space.

Just the gym and prepping for decorators tomorrow, they are making good on damp work not the fully monty so not too much to move out of the way. Must top up tea, coffee, get biscuits in. (I leave them to it). Its a woman decorator works with her son, and feels comfy to have around.

Happy Anniversary Gala 52 years..yes where does time go…

welcome to newcomers.

Oh no, Greyduster, please, no cold snap!

I also like things getting back to normal. I actually prefer to see family at less pressurised times.

Also that services I use are “Back to normal” (well the new normal at least!”)

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-23 09:07:21

I’ve just spotted a flock of fieldfares roosting in a tree opposite my garden. They looked lovely in the winter sunshine, but usually herald a very cold snap. Winter drawers on, folks!

Alygran Mon 02-Jan-23 09:06:26

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Beautiful clear blue sky here. I watched the sun rise as I emptied the dishwasher.
DD2 is just about to go for a run. She’s going to help take the decorations down and get them into the loft before she leaves for home (Peak district) at lunch time.
We had a quiet day yesterday.
Congratulations to the Galas
Hope everyone has a good day
