Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry E Kent. The temperature has fallen again, but not to the degree Scotland is suffering.
I shifted some dust yesterday, after church - we were 4 at the early service…
Spoke to DD who is with the whole in-law family.
Enjoyed a mini bottle of champagne with my venison steak.
Trying to change my handbag in Canterbury, going by bus as parking is complicated and expensive.
Just some vacuuming today, probably my Spanish homework for Thursday as well.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, needless to say it’s a wet Wiltshire village this morning!
Yesterday I pootled around most of the morning, doing bits and pieces, cooked lunch and then spent the afternoon knitting.
Had a long chat on the phone with DD who’s coming down at the end of the week.
Today I need to sort out the fridge and do an online food shop, DDog and I will go for a walk too.
Life returns to normality tomorrow thankfully 😊

Morning Mick, morning All. Very pleased to see sun is forecast later for our corner of Somerset. Hope the forecast is accurate.

Decent day yesterday. Enjoyed a chat with our friend over coffee. Sorted some more of Christmas, enjoyed our belated Christmas meal alongside the sparkly tree which will disappear today. Arranged a date later in the month to meet my cousin and her husband. We have a Cotswolds day a couple of times a year. Something to look forward to.

Little sleep so pleased no real activity planned. Admin and some sorting for me this morning. Mr C has volunteered to change the bed and do some ironing. He’s a star. Suspect we’ll do little this afternoon , perhaps catch up on some tv.

Look after yourselves everyone. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Fifiw Mon 02-Jan-23 07:03:43

Good morning wet over night here in Warwickshire. Happy New Year.
Nearly back to hustle and bustle of life. It is quite nice having a few days where everything seems to halt for a while

kittylester Mon 02-Jan-23 07:05:46

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

Not a lot going on here today so we will probably do some catching up with tv too.

At least DH is in a good mood. Forest drew against Chelsea having played brilliantly. Phew.

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-23 07:09:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but dry at the moment. Chilly this morning, though. Hope to get a walk in later. We had a lovely New Year’s Day lunch yesterday. Son in law cooked it, but GS prepped the veg! Well done, that man! We played Nintendo monopoly afterwards. I hadn’t got the faintest idea what was going on, so needless to say I did’t win! What happened to the good old board, and piles of cash, and get out of jail free cards?
Not much going on here today. Some reading, and I’m going to order some knitting wool. Home made ham hock, lentil and vegetable soup for supper. Comfort food!
Have the best day you can folks!

Beechnut Mon 02-Jan-23 07:12:14

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Very dark but promising a dry day with sunshine.

I’m glad to get back to normality. I’ve seen people over the holiday period but as I got into bed last night I felt it had been my loneliest Christmas/NY ever and then to top it off I had a dream that left me with upset happenings that took a while to work out and get back to sleep. I think I need to leave the cheese alone 🤣

Off out today to do a top up shop and get rid of the cabin fever. My brother will come by later. He said he would be earlier than usual so I can’t stop anywhere to window shop.

I’ve some admin to do but will leave that until I have plenty of time as I want to do a good sort out. All part of my decluttering.

Have good day all 🦩🌝🌼

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Madeira. It rained quite heavily in the night so I had to get up and close the balcony doors.

I was bitten down in the spa yesterday which has never happened to me in Madeira. So I had an uncomfortable night. We have gel that we bought from Menorca so I will have loads of that smeared on today.
We have my husbands cousin and his wife en route to join us for the week so we will be tour guides from today. It was supposed to be a surprise for me but I forced it out of DH. He caves in very easily😂

It’s our DDs 36th birthday today. I will be thinking back to when she was born breech with a normal delivery bottom first. I’d be whipped straight in for a section nowadays. I’ve just messaged her.

Wishing everyone a lovely day and thoughts to those suffering stress and illness 🌻🌻

Gala Mon 02-Jan-23 07:14:55

Good morning from Sefton. Haven't opened the curtains yet so no idea what's happening out there. The weather app says it's going to be a sunny day. I hope so as we have GD1 with us today. She always enjoys a visit to the play park.
Out for a nice meal tonight as it is our wedding anniversary. We seem to have managed 52 years. Where does the time go?
Take care all.

Beechnut Mon 02-Jan-23 07:16:46

Seeing Fifiw up thread 👋 it reminded me to say it was nice to read yesterday from all who just read and not often post as well as regulars.

karmalady Mon 02-Jan-23 07:24:59

good morning and s somerset is going to be sunny and cheerful today

Yesterday was rather nice, physically alone but again appreciating that I can do what I want, when I want. Constantly speaking with five siblings and three AC via whatsapp. Basic veg prep for a few days done, so I ensure that I eat well, plus lots of knitting. I love the tactile feel of pure 4 ply wool sliding over my needles and my jumper is growing fast

I would like to get out in the sun today but don`t think it will be via cycling as I don`t like breathing in the cold air. Determined walking around town will be fine and there are a couple of hilly bits that I will do fast as possible

I hope you all have a nice day

Grandmadinosaur Mon 02-Jan-23 07:35:52

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s dark and dry.

Wishing your daughter a very happy birthday Shazza and happy anniversary to Gala and Mr G 💐

Yesterday we went for lunch with the family. DIL had cooked a nice piece roast pork which was delicious. It was lovely seeing little GD startling to play and start taking interest in all the toys. As for GS he is starting to get a little obsessed with playing on the Nintendo device. They bore me rigid but Grandad obliged in having a game or two with him.

Nothing planned for today. I’ve decided I’ll give DH 2 options when he wakes up. Either a brisk walk out somewhere or a trip to a closest M&S to exchange a gift I was bought. It’s not as easy changing items there as it used to be. Apparently my SIL says she bought something from there for her step mum who also returned for an exchange but had to get a refund that went back on to SILs PayPal account. She had to buy a replacement item outright and SIL reimburse her. Complicated or what! I will have the same issue.

Have a good day everyone.

Pittcity Mon 02-Jan-23 07:39:19

Good morning from a dark and chilly Colchester. DH is getting ready to go fishing with DGS1. They won't be out long as DH is still full of cold. We both slept better last night though.
DS and GF will sleep late so I can mop the floors before walking to Sainsbury's for a few bits.
It's a Bank holiday so normality will resume tomorrow here. DS will be driving back to base this evening. I will clean his room and DH can sniffle and snore in there tonight.
Happy anniversary to the Galas 🎉
Love to all 🦩 x

Ashcombe Mon 02-Jan-23 07:45:54

Good morning from Torbay where a clear sky looks encouraging for the sunshine forecast for today becoming a reality.

Yesterday, I enjoyed the church service and read the lesson again. Afterwards, DH and I walked over a mile without stopping on a circular route, taking in the Downs. My improving stamina is heartening, if you’ll pardon the pun! Today marks nine weeks since my mitral valve repair was done.

Have a good day, whatever you’ve planned. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 02-Jan-23 07:51:23

Morning all from West Oxfordshire to posters old and new. I’m still in bed so no idea what the weather is like. I will do a Waitrose shop today, some admin and some bed making. I keep a journal so I will type up the final resume for 2022. Grim or what?! OH and I watched the first two episodes of the spy thing with Guy Pearce and Damien Lewis last night. We’ll watch a bit more tonight. Highly recommended. Have a good day. Isn’t it a Bank Holiday?

grandMattie Mon 02-Jan-23 08:02:22

So pleased for you, Ash. Shows how wonderful modern medicine and, despite everything, the NHS are.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Jan-23 08:07:27

Morning Mick and everyone, especially newcomers yesterday and Fifiw today. It’s dry here in S Hants
It’s my son’s 32nd birthday today, a planned home birth I remember well, 🎂 for you’re daughter Shazza and Happy Anniversary to Mr&MrsGala 🥂.
Christmas left our house yesterday, all gone 😕 apart from a few chocolates, MrJ will work through them.
Quick trip to M&S to pick up some ordered bits later, vacuuming, washing and bathrooms are todays excitement.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

ShazzaKanazza Mon 02-Jan-23 08:10:52

Happy birthday to your DS Jaxjacky 🎂

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 02-Jan-23 08:12:57

Good morning Mick and everybody from a damp (but now clear skied) Oxfordshire, wouldn't some sunshine be nice?

I’m taking the decorations down today and am going to whittle the 5 crates down a bit, the problem is that most of the decorations are gifts from the girls over the years and are very fragile, hence the amount of boxes with everything well wrapped and protected rather than crammed into a couple of crates.
I also have decorations from when I was a child.
I’ll photograph the ones I like the least first and see if anyone in the family wants them before they go off to eBay or are put by for the Charity Shop later in the year.

Happy anniversary to the Galas

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs for those who aren’t so chipper with the hope that things soon improve.

dragonfly46 Mon 02-Jan-23 08:13:06

Good morning from a brightening Leicestershire.

Lazy day yesterday so will tidy up the decorations and give the house a clean as my cleaner is ill.
Might have to nip out and get some rolls for DHs lunch as his were green yesterday.

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Gala and welcome to all newcomers.
