Just packed away christmas

I always take everything down and put away before 5th- as thats the anniversary of my mums death.Its a sign of respect really.

Never heard of things ever staying up 40 days till february and we are catholic faith.

For the first time in my life I’m trying to keep them up until January 05 but they are getting on my nerves. It’s just that the last few years have been hard and as it’s supposed to be bad luck taking them down early so I thought I would do things differently.

I took all mine down on the 2nd, but I leave my warm white lights around my mirror up all year round as they give a nice glow in my lounge.

Reluctantly put ours away tonight after work. But better tonight than on Thursday when I will be shattered. I really struggle with Christmas being over and drab January, but once I get my "big" birthday over at the end of February I shall look forward to the lighter nights.

All gone, back in the box. I left our little Christmas tree in a large pot in the entrance porch- seems happy there.

All gone, although I usually leave them up until 6 Jan. I am always relieved once they have been packed away. I now pack them in strong plastic storage boxes and leave them in the garage, so much easier to access. I have two artificial trees and they come with their own bags. It's a miracle that they every fit back in but somehow they do!

I too, bought plastic storage boxes this year. Decorations packed away with a note written by myself to myself to read next Christmas (Yes, that's a bit sad I know).

Ours went away New Years Eve. Can't bear having them hanging round once Christmas is over.

I didn’t have many decorations. Just a smallish 5 foot (I think) fibreoptic tree with a few baubles added, and a couple of LED stars in the windows. I didnt have the energy to put up any more decorations. I did notice that most of the houses in my culdesac, had fairly subdued lighting. Last Xmas one of them had a gorgeous large lit-up Santa, and another had a Reindeer. This year they just had some window lights. Cost -cutting? Don’t blame them

We leave everything until Twelfthnight. A long time ago people would leave them until Candlemas, February 2nd. Fresh greenery would never last that long now, since we have heating. Although the price being what it is we may be able to leave them up until then again soon! We downsized from a 2M artificial tree to a 1M one and gave the large one and most of the ornaments for it to a newly married granddaughter. So two small trees now, a Nativity with a cast of thousands and an extensive collection of Santons as well as things like festive pillow covers etc.. I will be sad when it's all put away...

We always have christmas packed away by the 6th dont know why it is something that has just carried on from childhood.
I really should start today but it is just too hot and sticky and I am not in the mood lol

I just received today, 3rd January two cards sent from Ireland and Scotland respectively. Another postmarked 20th December, arrived on the 29th. I did not send any, except electronically. I wonder if we will even have Royal Mail next year.

If only! My decorations are all down now, but my dining room looks like a bomb site as I haven’t yet packed it all into the right boxes, which is my least favourite part.

Ours stay up until 12th night, I don't like the bare coldness afterwards at the most miserable time of the year (January). Horrible month!

The Xmas after the first covid wave, I noticed that many neighbours kept trimmings up until the end of January, I suppose to keep a bit of cheer going at a very unsettling time, and I keep some of my white string lights up anyway until the start of Feb.

Just got mine all packed away. Phew. Although it looks quite bare I’m going for a minimalistic look this year.

I’m just sat with a coffee. Want a bet DH will come in and think I’ve been sat here all morning.

Ours are now all gone. We vowed not to put anything in the loft when we moved here 2 years ago, so our pared down boxes are on shelves at the back of the garage.
I did it bit by bit to lessen the feeling of bareness!
