Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry outside at the moment here in brackley this morning.
Plans for the day may include my first bus trip of the year to Bicester ,and have a breakfast bap if I feel up to it.
Take Care,
Mick

Nicksmrs46 Tue 03-Jan-23 16:12:34

HNY to everyone, enjoy your breakfast bap Mick !
I don’t post here often but do read the lovely messages .
A busy morning, home hairdresser for us both , bit of hair colour for me , not to hide the grey but just blend into my light brown hair !!
Waited an hour in a website for a chat about our new cordless vacuum which makes a dreadful screeching noise when switched on ,, outcome is a new floor head being sent out today 🤞🤞. We have had 3 deaths in the family since 10th December so it hasn’t been a wonderful Christmas but we got through it all . Condolences to all those suffering bereavement and to those alone or with health problems I hope that you will have a good year ahead .

Good afternoon everyone from the Scottish Borders.
Mild but damp here.
A busy morning moving furniture. I suddenly had 4 strong people and couldn't turn up an opportunity!
Tonight I bought 2 tickets for the cinema in Edinburgh. I hope my friend turns up to join me but if she forgets I still want to see it so will go anyway.
I'm forgetful at this time of year
It's still a bank holiday here in Scotland so all your talk of decorators and plumbers confused me.
Some shops are open but I've still plenty of food.
Ash you sound super fit! I'm glad you have recovered so well.
Hoping everyone is having a nice day

Good morning from East Lothian where yesterday’s sparkling frost has been replaced by cloud.

It’s our last day here. DD and SiL are going to the cinema while we stay at home with DGSs. I slept long and deeply last night after a walk along the Musselburgh seafront followed by a challenging game of Pandemic with the family. I must look for Windy Knickers - sounds like one the youngest DGD would giggle at!

I hope you enjoy your bus trip to Bicester Mick, if you go, and the bacon bap when you get there.

Not looking forward to the long drive south tomorrow. We will stop overnight with DHs brother and sister-in-law in south Oxfordshire so won’t be home until Thursday pm.

Thoughts with the unwell and the sorrowful 💐

Morning all, like many of you I've de-christmassed but
I haven't yet put things away- they're all on the spare room bed as I too wish to rearrange how they're stored.

Brother went home yesterday (first time he's ever been down to us here - his wife would never do Christmas or New Year away from their home, but now he's on his own thought I'd invite him) so I took everything down even though I was intending to leave the tree up. Once I got started I just decided to do the lot- glad I did now.

Got a WhatsApp earlier from adult child detailing future weekend dates when me and 'Im indoors' will be 'required please if available' to help with child care as he and partner have committed themselves to various sports events. The fact that we haven't yet put anything in the online diary we all share doesn't necessarily mean we shall be available for weekend dates in the next few months- it just means that if we decide now to do something for us it'll screw up their plans. Grrr!
It annoys me that they arrange things first and then ask if we can sit the children (in some instances) overnight- rather than see if we're available before they commit themselves, and I'm very aware why they do it that way. If we say no then they'll be letting team-mates etc down etc; emotional blackmail really. Rant over.

I too shall be looking into 'Windy Knickers', Marydoll you should be on commission, wink as it might be just the thing to amuse aforementioned grandchildren if/when we have them!

Have a good day all- it is nice to be getting back into a normal routine isn't it-although I somehow keep thinking today is Wednesday!

Wyllow I had to show a delivery driver my driving licence to receive some new sewing shears a couple of years ago grin

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
Plumber came yesterday and I need a new shower fitting, box etc. I was hoping he could fix the leak, but the electric shower has packed up. I have a bucket in the shower to catch the water, it’s only a dribble, but soon mounts up and I’m on a water meter. No use for watering plants today!
Music club this afternoon and I’m on the desk, will go early to set up and stay later to clear away. I’m going to sing “Funiculi” “Smile” and “I Dreamt I dwelt in marble halls”. First session this year so looking forward to it.
Nice pics Ashcombe and hope you all have your best day.

Happy birthday to your mum NannyJan 💐

Good fighting, Greyduster. I might have a minor tiff with M and S who haven't refunded me for an item in November, most unlike them.

I forgot to add an amusing incident from last night. I had ordered some Stanley knife blades but they are "Age protected" so you have to provide proof of age in person. So two people arrived, second attempt, for £9 worth of Stanley knife blades. "When were you born" they said looking at white hair....

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. A late one for me; I slept in! The window cleaner woke me up when I heard his ladder bang against the bedroom windowsill. Then he couldn’t get the lock off the gate as he was trying to put the wrong code in. He’s only been coming here nine years, you can expect the occasional lapse of memory I suppose😁! Another day of splendid isolation for me - time to have the conversation with the taxman that I have been putting off! I think they have someone sitting at a desk saying “let’s take more tax off this person this year even though she’s not earning any more” who stuck a pin in my name……yes, I know, it doesn’t work like that but I’m in the mood for a fight! But first, another cup of coffee!
Great photos, Ash!
Have a good day folks.

Good morning all from a damp and gloomy Stockport.
For the first time for over two weeks I have a day to myself.
My D and GD came for 4 days on the 19th of Dec and since then my GD has been on annual leave.
I am so looking forward to it.
I confess that although I don’t say it I am starting to think , will this be my last Christmas.”
I have a few off days now and get so very tired.
I must give myself a good talking to.
All decorations down and in the loft and the house is clean and tidy, hurray!!
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dark wet blustery Co Armagh, it was so dark when I opened the curtains that I thought I had misread the clock !
At least it isn’t as numbingly cold as yesterday , I put out the birds breakfast without wearing my coat
I made a mistake in the baby blanket I’m crocheting, it was two rows back so I had to take it back , I’m still not back to where I was , so I’d better do a bit today after hauling the vac out !
I only use it when DD is at work , or else she takes over , she has enough to do . My nice cleaning friend is back this weekend

Wyllow3 Tue 03-Jan-23 09:51:32

Morning all

I foolishly watched the Shawshank Redemption late last night so this morning greeted the decorators in Dressing Gown, having slept through my alarm (well, dozily switched it off then...) But they've been here before and she's such a nice person. I hope it's just a days work making good after damp people but may extend into tomorrow morning if time needed between coats of paint. Will be nice when its done - lived with bare plaster for months.

Its her first day break at work and she said, "its nice to be back to normal" which surprised me but its nice she loves her work.

Got s zoom session at 12.30 so have asked her not to use the upstairs loo when its on, its private stuff.

I chuckled too at the extra baby Jesus.

Enjoy your meet ups all and sympathies for the low in body and mind.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s dark, grey and raining in this corner of Lancashire, currently 4°C.

Yesterday was bright and very cold, we had a drive up to Glasson Dock for a little fresh air and exercise. No plans for today, it’s too wet for walking so indoor exercise only.

May you all have a good day.

Hello and Happy New Year, from soggy S Somerset as well - back at work today....

On the subject of knicker-based games, we had great fun over Xmas with this one - Fill Your Pants... until someone put a bottle of red wine down their pants, which then fell out and smashed (luckily in the kitchen, not on the carpet!)

Good morning mick and all,
Well after yesterday’s brightness, it’s back to damp and grey here today. I do hate these dismal days that never seem to get properly light.
Think I’ll make a start on taking down the decorations today. Will leave the tree until 12th night, though.
Haven’t read the posts yet, there’s so many to read, but I’ll come back after breakfast and have a good look through then.
Hope today is a good one.

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all from a cold bit of Berks.
Yesterday we had a visit from DS2, DIL and DGS. He is growing up and wasn't quite the whirlwind he used to be. I had made spiced parsnip soup and they brought lots of other foodie things, so it was nice and simple. But wore me out nonetheless.
After reading about GN various appointments , I had a horrible thought that today was the hygienist day. Luckily it isn't until 25th. Phew.
Today is a resting day, as tomorrow DS1 is coming with one of his boys. There is such an age range with the GC. Friday will probably be the day to de-Christmas, and have another look through all the cards.
To all who are having health or other problems, gentle thoughts.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning from Durham, after a heavy frost before bedtime, it’s just wet and windy now. Had a couple of days at DD1s, but home now and another one pleased to get back to ‘normal’. Friend has cancelled meeting up this morning as she’s ill, but I need to visit my rental house to make sure everything’s ok before I try to rent it out again.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

karmalady Tue 03-Jan-23 09:31:31

good morning, s somerset is grim, wet, windy and dark and it feels cold so am sorely tempted to light my fire, which is already set

Basic things are done here, such as making my bed but I need to get going and do a bit more. Meals today are planned, I always write them down in my diary, it ensures I eat well. Really I want to get cracking on with knitting my jumper

Stilllearning Tue 03-Jan-23 09:30:46

Morning from S Lanarkshire where I’m still in bed until the house heats up. My Hive disconnected itself from the internet before Christmas and I’ve not managed to fix it. I thought I had last night but no such luck.

After all the family visits etc, today is ‘ get my act together’ day!
I did start some indoor exercise yesterday which I am resolved to continue if I don’t get out for a decent walk. It’s so easy to get out of the habit isn’t it? Or is that just me!

Lovely cheering photo Ash, blue skies make everything feel better.

A get together meal with former colleagues is planned for this afternoon and I hope it goes ahead but lots more rain forecast for later today and our roads are still on the verge of flooding so people may well and understandably, pull out.

Urmston, I binge watched series one of Happy Valley last night too. I’ve never done that before but found it very satisfying!

Hope everyone who is feeling under par has a better day 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from a cloudy/bright W Kent. Will continue with getting the tree and decorations put away and dealing with another pile of ironing, nothing too exciting! I have to try and find some lasagne sheets the supermarket hasn't had any for a couple of weeks so somebody else will be getting my custom.
My DM was another one who always said if I'm still here when given an invitation, at present I only think it.
Hope all appointments go well today.

Happy birthday to the Imp. I forgot to mention him.

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Jan-23 09:10:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and wet. It's still quite dark too. Ash I hear the delight in your voice at being able to do more. Marydoll I'll look for that game too. Happy birthday to NannyJans mum. My gran used to say "If I'm spared" too. Kittylester well done. Small steps but in the right direction.
Yesterday I de-christmassed the house and I feel better for it. I first footed DD and the boys and took leftovers that I knew they would eat. I made sil a hedgehog too as he's been mithering me for one for ages. Dgs2 was having a nap and dgs1 was tired so it was a quiet visit.
Today I will hoover as I can see stuff I've missed. And that will be the extent of my labours. I'll continue with some Spanish and potter about. Have a good day all.
