Of, not if.

A late good morning to you all. I’ve only skimmed the posts, I’m afraid, but did read yours mick and hope you’ll mention your weight loss to your GP, and saw yours MD - glad you have at long last been able to see a GP with some common sense.

It was raining heavily here this morning but has now brightened up a bit, so hope it stays that way.

Kind thoughts to all if you feeling unwell or with worries.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast. So nice, I feel I should take a walk in the dunes, but I need to clear away Christmas stuff and generally tidy up.
Nice first of the year art session yesterday with lots of coffee and people’s thoughts on Harry, oops Harold…
Then run through new songs with guitarist in the afternoon, arranging suitable keys etc.
Hope you soon get back to your regular routine Mick and glad to hear your improvements day by day Ashcombe
Card making.

Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy and mild here in Lancashire. I am unable to read all your posts just now, will catch up later.

Happy Birthday Shazza

A very late good morning to you all. I attach photos of yesterday's rise of the full moon that kept me awake until after 3.30am and meant I slept in until after 9.30. Six hours' sleep though - can't be bad!
Today is DD's 49th birthday! I remember so well that day in Malta when she was born and her soon-to-be older brothers racing round everywhere shouting "we're going to get a baby today". Those two are now 54 and 55 - where does the time go? Anyway she's spending the weekend bagging some more Wainwrights in the Lake District with New Man. I am so happy that those two have found each other - her late husband's cancer was diagnosed when their babies (now 17 and 19) were just four months and two years, so really this is the first carefree time she has had for a very long time.
I'm sorry I haven't read any of your posts yet - that's a treat for later - but it really is time I got this show on the road and achieve something on this wet and dismal day. I hope all your days are brighter than this one and that you find your sunshine, in whatever form it appears 🌞

Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Northampton; shan't be going out today! Have only just got up as I slept in, and haven't read any of this long thread yet.

A pleasant day yesterday with neighbours here for coffee in the morning then in the evening a visit to our newest neighbours for mulled wine. There is still a lot to be done to their house after its years of neglect by a previous owner, let us just say it is a work in progress.... But it was an evening of good company with all neighbours in our little close gathered together.

My plans today are to finish getting the decorations and tree down and packed away. I always leave it till the last minute as I love having them up, and it will look so bare afterwards! Oh, and I've got a large curry to put in the slow cooker, think I'd better do that first.

Wishing all a pleasant weekend.

Good morning to you all from a wet & windy N.,Cambs.,

Mick, is it just the little weight you gained whilst on holiday just before Christmas that you are losing? Do take care.
Although I am still trying to lose some of my excess, (certainly gained a little this past monthsad).
I'm more than half way through a "pre-diabetic-prevention-course, on line" Doing OK, but "could do better"!

Pleased that you had a better outcome at your surgery, Marydoll, if only it could always be so. I hope you are feeling easier now.

Sorry you've had to postpone your holiday, Urms.,, I hope your DSF is getting the help & treatment he needs.

annsixty, best wishes to you & your DGD.

Congratulations Granyfaraway on the birth of your new DGS, exciting times ahead.

Happy Birthday, Shazza, wine cupcake looks like you are having a great holiday, lovely photos.
So young, at 60, (makes me feel really ancient, smile)

Good morning from a very wet West York's,nothing planned for today.
Happy birthday Shazza🎂🍷hope you have a lovely day.*Marydoll*good to hear you had a productive consultation sometimes it is a new eye that's needed.
Urms hope your Sf is feeling the transfusion has done it's job.
Willow you can now get on with the rest of your life with less stress.

Urmstongran Sat 07-Jan-23 10:26:13

Many happy returns of the day Shazza! And those photos are stunning!

SusieB50 Sat 07-Jan-23 10:12:05

happy birthday Shazza the photos have brightened up a dreary looking day in the wilds of East London!
So pleased that you saw a wonderful GP Marydoll I too had a very good experience with a trainee GP back in June when I was very unwell . She organised ECG , bloods and CXR immediately . Just glad that there is a generation of up and coming new docs wanting to be a GP.
Today I hope DS will complete the paint removal of the folding doors he is renovating. He isn’t the tidiest of workers and the smell of paint stripper is not nice. Twin GD may come with him today unless there’s a better offer as DiL has a day out with her sister.
I miss little ones toddling in excited at playing with Grandma ! These two although pleased to see me soon migrate to their phones after they have raided the fridge …
Decorations all packed away ready for DS to put in the loft again .

ShazzaKanazza Sat 07-Jan-23 09:51:38

Good Morning from S Yorks. Grey grey, rain rain.

Happy birthday Shazza Always nice to get sunny pix (you young GNetter!)
and glad to read of GP matters/followups Marydoll.
Nearly a mile pretty good going, Greyduster

End of an era my divorce came through yesterday and also...a lovely female sky engineer, so kind and efficient..I now have smart TV and can operate it.

Bests with all your endeavours today.

Stilllearning Sat 07-Jan-23 09:12:32

Just checked back in, very glad to read about your comprehensive GP appointment Marydoll, you must be so relieved and not before time. I hope it leads soon to a much better quality of life for you.

annsixty Sat 07-Jan-23 09:08:58

Good morning from Stockport.
A quiet day today until I, hopefully, go out tonight for a meal in a lovely Turkish restaurant tonight with my friend and neighbour.
She has had a bad cold so I hope she is fully recovered.
My GD’s appointments went well yesterday and she is having elective surgery on Feb the 8th.
I was totally thrown by my changed routine yesterday, it really doesn’t take much, the saying that old age isn’t for wimps is so true, but better than the alternative.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Alygran Sat 07-Jan-23 09:07:59

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very wet this morning.
Happy birthday Shazza
Pleased to hear you made some progress with the GP Mary
Nothing much on here today, a quick run round with the vacuum cleaner and an agenda to prepare for a meeting next week.
Have a good day everyone

dragonfly46 Sat 07-Jan-23 09:07:23

Good morning from wet SE London.

The journey down yesterday went well as the roads were fairly quiet. I think everyone was staying at home.
We are going to a show tonight so hoping the Elizabeth line is running.

Pleased your appointment with the doctor went well Marydoll.
Sorry to hear your holiday is being postponed Urms but hopefully they can sort your SF out.

Happy Birthday Shazza.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 07-Jan-23 09:06:05

Good morning Mick and all, from a wet and windy Oxfordshire.

Another day of sorting, I’m skirting around 20 boxes of ‘stuff’ that MrOops has collected for the Ukraine, they won’t disappear until next week so I’m saving my big clear out until his boxes go.

But tidying up cupboards and drawers is good and most are semi sorted ready to box up.

So pleased you found someone to listen to you Marydoll it’s been a long time coming, let’s hope your GP will stay at your practice, our was closed again to everything but emergencies yesterday, so much sickness around at the Surgery.

Happy Birthday Shazz have fun, take care travelling Karmalady

Have a good day everyone, stay warm and dry. Hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.

luluaugust Sat 07-Jan-23 09:03:04

Good morning from a grey overcast morning in W Kent. All the available family are coming today for lunch, lasagne and pud, the first time I have hosted 11 for a very long time and I must admit that although I have kept it very simple I do feel nervous. I know they will help with the lifting if I ask.
So glad you got somewhere Marydoll it just shows it can be done.
Happy birthday shazza now I really feel old!!
Best wishes

Gala Sat 07-Jan-23 08:59:18

Good morning from a very gloomy & extremely wet Sefton. A reluctant dog is being persuaded to 'go for a lovely walk' at this very moment (I can hear them from my cosy bed!). Let's see how long that walk lasts.
No plans for today & no need to venture out. I have good books, my cross stitch, some good tv recordings, oh & the ironing. My day is sorted.
Take care all. ((Hugs)) to those of you with worries & struggles.

Urmstongran Sat 07-Jan-23 08:56:25

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp. Alexa tells me it’s currently 10°C with showers forecast. L’il Miss is coming over to play mid morning for a couple of hours while her parents take the Boy Wonder to play football in Stockport.

Himself will be changing our flights today with Mr O’Leary. We planned to go to Spain tomorrow but we need to push the flights back and shave a few days off our holiday to accommodate taking my stepfather to Wythenshawe ENT clinic on Monday. I also need to see him settled for about 3 nights (hopefully) before we go. If need be, we will of course just let the rearranged flights go.

We are babysitting tonight as our daughter & son in law fancy an evening out for a curry.

Enjoy Saturday all who can. I’m going to read the 36 posts that were already up when I signed in. This thread has become very popular indeed which is nice. Oh, here’s my second cuppa. ...
😊

GrannySomerset Sat 07-Jan-23 08:55:28

Wild night with rain hurled at bedroom windows, but quieter this morning though still very wet. Nothing at all planned so I shall find a film or two later today and let the day wash over me.

Glad that Marydoll encountered such a helpful and sensible GP and hope such care continues. It’s bad enough to feel so unwell without being so abandoned by those whose job is to support and help. Glad Shazza had such a brilliant birthday, and hope for a good day for all our posters.
