Good morning from a moonlit E Kent.
I seem to have had a reasonable night as I didn’t wake up until early 0530 instead of the usual 0300ish.
Quiet day yesterday, ditto nothing planned for today.
I must go to the shops to get a few bits; the walk is good for me.
Hope MD had a successful consultation with her GP, that Urms DSF is doing ok and all the poor lies are better. Birthday/anniversary wishes to all.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay after a stormy night.

Take care of yourself, Mick; have you spoken to your GP about the weight loss? I hope Urmstongran’s DSF is able to go home and Marydoll had a good outcome with her GP.

Yesterday, I took down the cards and packed all the Christmas decorations into boxes, including those from the tree. All that’s left is the tree to take apart and “persuade” back into its box! My energy levels are returning to how they were a few years ago; having DH here helps especially as he relieved me of the Lidl run yesterday.

Enjoy whatever you’ve planned this weekend. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

karmalady Sat 07-Jan-23 06:38:44

what a horribly windy night in s somerset, it kept waking me up, howling around my windows. I went down and put my bin into the garage soon after I went to bed and that set the tone for the night

I am motorway driving today, a very busy motorway into wales but I am going to leave later than planned, I hope the wind dies down somwhat

Sar53 Sat 07-Jan-23 07:07:41

Good morning everyone from a very windy Essex by the sea. I can hear it howling around the building.
A trip into town this morning, nothing else planned today.
Enjoy Saturday everyone, don't get blown away xx

BlueBalou Sat 07-Jan-23 07:16:12

Good morning everyone, it’s very wet and windy here in Wiltshire, I didn’t sleep well at all.
Yesterday was lovely with the sunshine, please can we have more?
DDogs enjoyed a trip to a new dog field; much to my amazement our DDog did some agility there, even the tipping seesaw! She’s never even seen agility equipment before so I was really surprised!
It was, however, very muddy so two dogs needed a hosepipe to clean their feet when we got back . Luckily I have plenty of towels on the back seat of the car as well as seat covers especially designed for dog owners to limit the mess.
DD and I made banana bread and walnut cake 😋, both turned out well, and a lovely apple crumble.
Today I need a quiet day, I really have overdone it the last couple of days…….
Have a lovely weekend everyone, here’s hoping for ☀️

Good morning all from Glasgow. Still dark and quiet outside, heavy rain overnight and it’s continuing this morning. I do miss pottering about in the garden. The only time I do go out is to hurriedly fill the bird feeders in between heavy showers.

A script to collect for DH and a small shopping for basics at some point is the plan so far, other than that, bits and bobs to do around the house.
Hoping your consultant was helpful yesterday Marydoll🤞

Best wishes to all for a good and trouble free day.

Gingster Sat 07-Jan-23 07:30:34

Good morning all and yes it’s breezy with rain forecast here in Essex.
Not ideal, as Dd has a skip arriving with ds1 and Dh going round to help fill it. The twin boys will help too. DS2 offered his services but as he lives in Hertfordshire, and is not really needed, Dd persuaded him to stay home. She moves In a couple of weeks and it has all been very stressful !
What with her cancer treatment and so much to sort out ! It never rains but …. !

I’m going to stay away as I can imagine things will get a bit tense. Little gd can come here with me .

I’ll make them a shepherds pie for later so that’s my contribution.

I’m hoping all poorlies and worried grans get some respite today. Take care ♥️.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 07-Jan-23 07:32:26

Morning all from a moderately howling West Oxfordshire. Today I really am taking the tree down and packing away all the ornaments! We have booked lunch nearby so that will be a good outing. OH wants to buy a door for our garage so he may go off and do that after lunch. Not a particularly interesting day planned but some things have to be done, including continuing clearing out younger son’s old bedroom. Mick, if you’re unaccountably losing weight, you need to speak to your GP. Have a good day all.

kittylester Sat 07-Jan-23 07:38:38

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is quiet, dark and 10°.

DD3 is holding a family get together today. One way and another, we didn't manage to get together over Christmas. Dd2 and family will then come here and stay overnight.

Ashcombe, it's a good feeling to be getting back to normal isn't it. My energy is returning but physical strength still needs a boost.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

peli Sat 07-Jan-23 07:40:06

Good morning all. Very much hoping that Marydoll & Urmstongrans DSF had successful results @ their app'ts!

Today I'll store away the 2 small (fake) trees by the door, & the illuminated reindeer family - I'll miss them!
But now it's time for the annual visit of the snowmen decorations, up along the mantle - I always like seeing their smiling faces!
It's sunny here, so maybe the 2nd very early daffodil will open up to join its' mate - both boldly shoving themselves up amongst the friendly pansies.
Enjoy yr Saturday!

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 07-Jan-23 07:43:13

Good morning all from Harrogate.
Are you deliberately trying to lose weight Mick? If not, see your doc.
Hope your GP’s appointment was satisfactory Marydoll and you are now on the mend.
Yesterday I slept in, then went to town, bought next Christmas’s Xmas cards in the sale. We had coffee in Harrogate’s posh store - didn’t know it had reopened. Today I’ll be baking this morning and hopefully having a nap this afternoon after a lousy night.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a blustery Oulton Broad.

I wanted to say a big thank you to the people who've sent their best wishes and congratulations on the birth of my new grandson! Appreciated :-)

So far, all going well. They went home from hospital the following day (Weds) and, as baby's feeding well, they are currently getting good periods of sleep! DD and Sil finally named him Seb (Sebastian).

I asked my DD if there was anything they needed as I was going shopping and will be seeing them on Tuesday. They've just realised babies can go through several changes a day (lol) and asked for "more babygros". So Thursday and Friday I thoroughly enjoyed making the most of the sales in all the main stores. We don't have a John Lewis in Lowestoft, nor any department store but I found Tesco, Boots, Asda, Morrisons, TK Maxx and finally Matalan all had some good choices.

I also bought the ingredients to make my popular bread pudding to take over for some ballast while feeding. It's a great recipe I've had for years and doesn't turn out dry like in the bakers shops. I also use wholemeal bread, and add things like walnuts, cherries, apricots etc and it usually is very moreish!

On Tuesday, I will go to see DD and Sil with three bags in the car. I will feel like a late Mother Christmas!

Hope everyone else is well. Today I have decluttering to do (charity bags/clothes mainly) as I'm moving house soon. Plus the usual walk with my two dogs.

ginny Sat 07-Jan-23 08:01:03

Good morning from a damp and blustery N.Bucks.
Good shop this morning then we have to take medicines to MIL and DD2.
We have a leak in the upstairs bathroom so DH will investigate and hopefully mend that.,
Nothing much else planned.
Thoughts with all who have troubles and illness.

cornergran Sat 07-Jan-23 08:03:20

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and very windy corner of Somerset.

11 jigsaws culled yesterday, laundry done, a short break with friends booked and a venture out filled the day. We’ve nothing planned for today. I’ll be making some carrot and coriander soup for lunch then sending some emails while Mr C has a jigsaw to keep him happy, a quiet one here I think.

Safe travels karmalady and all on the move. Special thoughts for those dealing with illness or other pressures. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 07-Jan-23 08:03:34

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s quite blustery and there are raindrops on the window but it’s not raining now.

Yesterday I did a Morrisons shop in the morning. In the afternoon I met DS for a coffee. It was nice to have rare time alone. Pre Covid we often used to do this in his lunch hour at a supermarket cafe close to his office. The cafe there is now closed so we met locally. As DH suggested I think we should make it a monthly occurrence. There was something that had been bugging me and I was glad he felt the same and it has been resolved for the future.
I also had a call from my surgery re a recent blood test. Border line for blood sugars. I’m having a call with the nurse next week. Blood sugars? Could it have been wise for my blood test to have been a couple of days after Christmas 😕

DH is still asleep so not sure if what we will be doing today.

I do hope marydoll got some help at her GP appointment 🤞

Good to hear Urms stepfather is getting the treatment he needs and hope he is feeling bettter soon.

Wishing my dear friend shazza a very, very happy birthday today. I know her DH will make it a really special day and spoil her rotten making memories to look back on fondly. Much love to you 💐🍾🎂🥳 xx

Have a good day everyone.

monk08 Sat 07-Jan-23 08:08:54

Good morning all from a very wet Black country.
Happy birthday Shazza🎂🥂 enjoy your day in such a beautiful place, many happy memories from our time there.
I do hope all hospital and doctors appointments were successful yesterday.
No plans for the day but friends from Redditch coming later, we shall go to the club and meet with our other friends, plus DH needs to renew his membership.
Well usual full English calling, will catch up later.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some 🌞.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 07-Jan-23 08:11:31

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Madeira. We are in for a lovely day today.

It’s my 60th birthday today. My family decided to make it like New Years Eve in the late bar and were counting down till midnight. I had no idea my cousin in law had spoken to the DJ and I had to go up and dance and I had lots of attention which I get extremely embarrassed by. It was great fun though but we got in very late and I think there could be a few sore heads among our party today. I’m not sure who will get up for breakfast. My naughty hubby has got me a huge badge which he said I have to wear!

Today we are having a chilled fun and games day around the hotel just doing silly things together.
Yesterday we had an amazing trip around the west of the island the driver was very informative. There were lots of gasps of amazement at the staggering views.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone and enjoy any celebrations. Thoughts to those poorly or weighed down by stress. 🌻🎉

ShazzaKanazza Sat 07-Jan-23 08:12:17

Thankyou Grandmadinosaur 🥰

ShazzaKanazza Sat 07-Jan-23 08:15:00

Some of the lovely views from yesterday xx

Marydoll Sat 07-Jan-23 08:16:19

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it's currently 6°C. As Kalu has said, its very wet, on the way to the doctor's yesterday, we found the river lapping onto the road. It's been like that since last week. I'm a bit fed up with all the rain. Our garden is waterlogged and needing tidied up, but no chance, due to the torrential rain.

I hope Urms SF is feeling a bit better and AnnSixty, had a positive day at the hospital.
Grammaretto, many people are having cataract operations at the Golden Jubilee hospital in Glasgow. I have heard nothing, but glowing reports from friends.

Thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. I had a very successful, hour long consultation (totally unheard of) yesterday with a GP.
She was so concerned and shocked at my condition and lack of support, that she phoned the professor in Glasgow, who is conducting the research into my condition.
This is a long shot and I will probably be told off, but I'm going to try and contact him, she said.
She did get a hold of him and despite being in a clinic, he took the time to listen to her.
He offered advice on the unobtainable medication and asked her to email his secretary and to put me on his cardiac clinic list ASAP. I have won a watch!

It turned out that this was a trainee GP and she managed to do in ten minutes, which my surgery hadn't done in the last year, despite my frequent phone calls. I was in tears at both their kindness.

However, I was so upset to find that the second cardiac referral had never been done by the GP I spoke to last month. He has always been a wonderful GP for the last twenty years, but something has happened to him since lockdown, he is no longer the caring man I knew. I am so sad and disappointed in him.

On a plus side, the GP messaged my favourite GP, who had done a cardiac referral to the local hospital three months ago, updating him and asking him to keep an eye on me.
She was also concerned about my RA and advised me to phone my consultant and not wait for my next consultation.
I felt as if a great weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

On parking at the surgery, I had noticed that the pharmacy lights were all out at 3pm and a huddle of angry people waiting outside. When I came back over an hour later, the doors were locked and more people were waiting outside. This meant, I couldn't pick up my new prescriptions.
One woman told me that she had been back three times. The GP told me that there had been numerous complaints about this pharmacy.
The pharmacy closes at 5pm and is no longer open on a Saturday, but at 6.37pm last night, I received a text to say my repeats were ready!!!
They must have been working late to catch up on the backlog, but what about the people, who needed medication yesterday. What a shambles!

Today will be a day of doing nothing, a little sewing and watching Turkish dramas.
I didn't tell my children how unwell I was, (they are all stressed at work and worry about me), but DIL's father, our next door neighbour, bumped into DH in the surgery and DH proceeded to tell him how unwell I was.
He is a wee sweetie wife and cannot be discreet, so I suspect I will having visitors today!

I wish you all safe journeys and a pleasant day, whatever your plans. Healing vibes to all those in sick bay! 💐

Grammaretto Sat 07-Jan-23 08:17:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's just getting light and dry for now.
I have friends coming around later including a student who wants to make a film in my spooky house!
I couldn't refuse though after years of being a film set for DS who is now a film producer, I am inwardly groaning.

Gingster I think your pie will be very much appreciated. There are plenty of strong young ones to do the heavy work.

I'll come back to read what you've all been up to
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 07-Jan-23 08:18:46

I can imagine your embarrassment at having to get up and dance shazza
Enjoy your day. Wear your badge with pride - people will think he got the number wrong 🤣
Welcome to the 60s club.

Marydoll Sat 07-Jan-23 08:19:34

Happy birthday, Shazza! It sounds as if you are having a wonderful holiday.
Beautiful photos.

Susan56 Sat 07-Jan-23 08:21:54

Good morning from Shropshire.

The children both slept well although H coughed on and off all night which meant a disturbed night for us.He slept through it and is full of energy this morning.

Our day will be mainly Lego, kinetic sand and jigsaws.I have to take DGD to a party later.

Hoping Marydoll got some help from her GP and that Urms stepfather is feeling better after his transfusion.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩
