Good morning from north Suffolk a few miles inland from a very fashionable bit of the coast. I have been reading and enjoying your posts for a few weeks now and feel I should now contribute as well. A bit about myself…. Still have my DH after a very worrying time health wise at the end of 2021 but so far,all ok thank goodness. I am nearer 80 than 70 but not by much at present and have 8 grandchildren ranging from 15 to 5. The Bristol lot are here for the weekend having spent Christmas in Sydney as SiL is from there so lots of catching up going on and looking at videos on the teens’ phones! Meeting up with son and his family who live about 40 miles away for lunch. Younger daughter and family live in Hessle so too far for them to join us. I’ll try and keep in touch regularly as I’m full of admiration for those who do. Hope you all have a lovely day however you spend it.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear skied Carlisle where it is about 6C.
Yesterday it was the same when I got up, drizzling by the time I went out early in the car and, by the time I got out of Sainsbury's, the skies were black and I had to run for the car as the heavens opened to douse us in torrential rain. However, after lunch, a sunny afternoon.
If it stays fine today, I may go out and put in some bedding plants, otherwise it's finishing off the papers and plodding on with my book.
I'm wishing all the unwell improvements and better times and wishing everyone a pleasant Sunday.
I'm off to fettle my painful neck muscles with some lovely Tiger Balm!

Good morning from damp SE London.

The show was excellent last night - a mixture of acrobatics and burlesque. I wish I had the core strength that the performers had.
The travelling up there was easy on the new Elizabeth line and then a taxi back.
A quieter day today - will probably go out for a roast at some point after I have walked doggy.

Hope Urms SF had a good night and you have a better day Marydoll.
It is hard GrandMattie I can understand you wanting to start over somewhere new.

Good morning and welcome Liberty, a busy time for you.

dragonfly46 Sun 08-Jan-23 08:52:52

Welcome Liberty.

Gingster Sun 08-Jan-23 08:53:19

Welcome Liberty. Do you live in Suffolk or are you just visiting?

SusieB50 Sun 08-Jan-23 08:54:59

Good morning from at the moment a dry sunny EastLondon . Last night very heavy rain and wild winds, the garden looks a real mess. I have not been awake long as I binge watched “The Split” series 2 last night. I didn’t see it when it was first aired and am really involved in it now. I haven’t read the other posts yet as need to get a wriggle on . DS hopefully finishing off stripping the old folding doors they are using in their loft room. He can then do a massive clear up!
I need to make a start on a rising pile of paper work today , but also a quick brisk walk to loosen up stiff joints Wishing everyone a good as day possible.

We have lived here in Suffolk for 39 years, Gingster, having left London when our youngest was 1 and eldest just 8. We were in Stoke Newington years before it became so fashionable as it is now. Similar things have happened to parts of Suffolk too in the last 40 years.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday's family lunch went off well in the end with a little help from DS with the dishing up. So nice to see everyone sitting round the table again. DGS3 bought his GF with him, we have met her a couple of times now, she brightens up the table as she has long blond hair and we are all very dark haired until we go grey!
Quieter day today I must contact DD2 as my lovely GD has just had her first romance come to an end, she is very upset as we all were once.
Take care everyone.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp. Alexa tells me it’s 5°C with rain forecast. I’m like Rip van Winkle! - I’ve just slept for 10 hours (with only a quick bathroom trip at 2am).

I’m not doing Sunday dinner. My stepfather said yesterday he’d rather ‘stay put’. I don’t blame him. We are going to pop over and see him for a cuppa in a couple of hours and he’d like me to bring some bananas from my ‘larder’. I got a text last night from my daughter saying “..... is desperate to see grandma, any chance you could call in for half an hour after seeing grandpa?” Aw, every chance I think darling girl.

You have faced so many challenges grandMattie this past year or two. I’m in awe of your capability. I hope you enjoy the 10:30am service and any interactions with other parishioners. Ash you always have sweet words of inspiration to share. Enjoy your lunch. I’d best not do a ‘roll call’ as it might seem hurtful not to be included yet I think you’re all so lovely and a great bunch of ‘virtuals’. It’s definitely the nicest way to start the day isn’t it? x

Grammaretto Sun 08-Jan-23 09:15:38

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country.

No real plans today, gym this morning then, then probably read this afternoon. Chicken dinner tonight which I will cook in my Air Fryer! I hardly use the main oven now.

Welcome Liberty its lovely to hear from new posters on here.

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Jan-23 09:23:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry at the moment although there are cloudy skies. Liberty welcome to Mick's lovely thread. Marydoll another restful day for you. Grandmattie I feel for you. Hopefully once you've been, it won't be as painful to go again.
Yesterday I had the boys for a few hours. Dgs1 told me I was his best friend and I was chuffed to bits until I remembered I had given him chocolate! He was very cuddly yesterday though. Dgs2 is not cuddly and more inclined to swipe my specs off unexpectedly. He does like to sit on my knee and we play 'Horsey Horsey'. The three of us had a lovely time and I'm fortunate to spend time with them. Dd and sil went shopping and spent their Christmas money and vouchers so they were happy too.
Today I will be pottering around at home as childcare and early rises begin again tomorrow. I'm going to make chicken stock and use it for broccoli and stilton soup. I will make chicken curry too I think. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from sunny East Yorkshire. Up late today.

On Friday evening we ordered an item online that was to delivered tomorrow. Good job I checked my e mails early yesterday as I received one from DPD saying it was to arrive in a one hour time slot late morning. It duly arrived at midday.
In the afternoon we popped into the city centre. The watch DH bought me for Christmas needed a link putting back in and DH had to change a duplicate book he’d received. For our evening meal we had a tapas style tea. It was minus one of my favourites - the meatballs which I’d forgotten to take out the freezer. Still we enjoyed it.

Just skimmed the threads but hope you enjoyed your birthday Shazza
Hoping the poorly ones are doing ok.
Have a good day everyone.

harrigran Sun 08-Jan-23 09:33:06

Good morning from a dry and bright NE.
Still in bed with a cup of tea, always tired on a Sunday after a day with all the family.
Sister and BIL came and we had a drink together, DS and family arrived and made themselves a late lunch and then coffee and cake. I think the teenagers must just get out of bed and get in the car without having eaten.
I cooked a gammon joint for dinner and we shared a bottle of no alcohol wine.
DS spent the evening looking at holiday cottages, we found some lovely ones that had everything we wanted including grand pianos and swimming pools. It is their 20th wedding anniversary in the summer and they would like to go abroad but they don't do sun, sand or package holidays, so will take some organisation.
DD and SIL are coming today and taking me out to lunch, she is travelling home to Brussels tomorrow after she was forced to extend her stay because of rail strikes.
Have the best day you can.

Good morning all from a sunny Black country, long may it continue.
A small amount of ironing but then again may leave it and continue with my book.
Chicken for dinner later.
Shall now go back and read everyone's happenings 41 postings already, Shazza the lights look amazing.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and may you all find some 🌞.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire; the weather has I proved a bit since Wyllow posted and the sun is out now. I’m late to the party this morning. I slept well until about six o’clock when I got two text messages reminding me about an appointment on Tuesday!! Then I managed to get back to sleep. DS came down yesterday, but only for the day. It was lovely to see him. He put all my Christmas decorations in the loft, we went for a walk around the estate sans crutches, sticks or any other paraphernalia, and then he took me down to the supermarket so that I could pick up a few bits. He cooked us a roast chicken dinner and then went off back home satisfied that I haven’t fallen off my perch since he saw me at Christmas. Today will be a day of bits and bobs with the usual foray outside, and pasta for dinner.
Welcome Liberty; nice to see new posters!
Have the best day you can folks.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 08-Jan-23 09:49:26

Good Morning and welcome to Liberty and to any new posters I might have missed while being on my hols. 👋👋

Urm that is so funny from Matt this morning. 😂 love to your stepfather.

My DH is just limbering up for tennis. Just hoping he doesn’t get injured🤦

Taichinan Sun 08-Jan-23 09:51:33

Good morning all from an Angus coast where the sky is blue and the sun is peeping in and out between white clouds. The washing is ready to be hung out! The moon was brilliant again last night again - in fact I woke up at 4.20 thinking it was morning (but was very happy to go back to sleep for another four hours 😉.)
Marydoll I was so pleased to read that you at long last got some decent GP attention, it must be such a reassurance for you to feel that someone 'has your back'. Just take things easy so that you stop scaring your lovely man!
Urms what a lovely lady you are in the way you care for your SF. I hope he's now on the road back to fitness.
I hope the 10.30 service is not too much of an ordeal for you grandmattie. I'm sure folks will be saying how lovely it is to see you and how much they've missed you. You're such a brave lady.
And hello and welcome to you, Liberty.
Nothing exciting here today apart from hanging the washing out! I must also attack some tai chi paperwork - I keep putting it off, which is why it's always on my to-do list!
Have the best day you can everybody and remember the sun is always shining, even if it's behind black clouds x

Welcome Liberty 👋

Ziplok Sun 08-Jan-23 10:00:38

Good morning. Fine here so far, but the sky is looking a bit grey, so I think we might have rain soon but I hope not.
Quiet day ahead I think, just a few Christmas cloths to iron and put away the I think I’ll settle down with a book.
Hello Liberty.
Better go, I can here DH moving about, so better put the kettle on 😁.

Good morning from a bright and breezy Co Armagh
My lovely cleaning lady is here to see what I haven’t been doing while she was away over the holidays !! She hasn’t rolled her eyes yet so things mustn’t be too bad !
Last night as I was going up the hall to bed I thought I’d poke my nose out to see what the weather was doing , and in the porch was my parcel . I had had an email to say it would be delivered between 8 am and 8 pm ! Goodness knows how long it had been there . Oh I know it was safe there , but surely the driver could have rung the doorbell !

annsixty Sun 08-Jan-23 10:16:24

Good morning from a grey and dreary Stockport.
I am late to the party this morning after a disturbed night.
Our outing to the Turkish restaurant was disappointing although I suppose I enjoyed being out.
The place was so busy with no less than five birthday parties.
Lots of small children and so noisy.
Consequently food took a long time to arrive and wasn’t up to standard.
We both had a couple of glasses of wine which then set off acid reflux about an hour after I went to bed.
I coughed until I was very sick, then sat upright in bed sipping water until the early hours.
I feel rather “stretched “ this morning so another quiet day.
Going out is no longer the pleasure it used to be sadly.
Have the best day you can everyone.
