Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

The trip to the Doctor yesterday ended up with me having 2 prescriptions I will have to take for life! Gel for my 'dry eyes' and I asked about the results of my blood test. Upshot is my cholesterol level was 7.6, so he advised Statins! I so wanted to avoid that! The pharmacy at the Surgery didn't have the eye gel, so I took prescription to Boots in town who said they have it in stock, and to come back in 10 minutes. Duly turned up to be told they couldn't release it from the other Pharmacy, who they had rung to be told they had released it. So Boots took my number to let me know when it is ready. Seems very odd, they have stock but I couldn't have it!

Today I am going out to lunch with my friend as I have a 50% voucher off main meals from Ember Inns. Then heard last night from my friend in Lincs who is currently in Hospital, blue lighted apparently in great pain. Tests revealed Appendicitis. Hopefully she will be home today.

What a palavar Urms for your DSF, it does seem there is no co-ordination between departments. Glad that the nosebleeds seemed to have abated though.

Hoping your DD is ok now Kitty, what a shock for you and her x

Good morning all from N Bucks where it is clear, windy and feels nippy - but that might just be me.
One of the worst nights I can remember for coughing and no sleep resulted in a LFT at 4.30 this morning as I could hardly have felt worse- including the headache, sore throat and earache.
But no, I can’t believe it’s not covid! How much worse do I have to get?
Just reading all your plans for the day have threatened to give me a relapse. I have 2 zoom classes today which are doable and somehow have to do something on the computer with a PDF from D and SIL’s solicitor to give evidence of the origins of some money I am lending/giving them towards their new house. As someone who can send and receive emails, do an internet shop and read books on my iPad, this looks like a bridge too far so I’ll have to ring them I think.
Oh for the days of pen and paper. Anyway my brain hurts.

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is shining for a change.
DH saw the plastic surgeon yesterday and will be having his two lesions removed in a couple of months. One may need a skin graft. He is very laid back about it all.
I'm going into town on the train this morning for a few bits, a birthday card for a granddaughter who will soon be 14, an anniversary card for DH. We will have been married for four years at the end of the month.
This afternoon I will do a bit more of my jigsaw and prepare a chicken stirfry for tea.
Good to hear that your DSF has had no more nosebleeds Urmstongran, fingers crossed. Sorry to hear about the muddle up with the district nurse.

Good morning all and it’s bright here in Essex. No sign of rain 🤞.
Yesterday was a lovely day with my friends at Stratford Olympic park but the weather was dire, so we stayed under cover with a long coffee break and then a long lunch. We won’t see each other until May, as one of them will be in Oz with her family.

Today Dd will pop in and I’ll see what she needs doing re her move next week. Such a lot to do.

Tonight is choir, so I must sort out the music required for this evenings session.

Good morning from a bright start again in East London . Rain is due though I’m sure . Urms Pleased your SF is OK now🤞the problem is solved .I agree so frustrating for all with the mix up in medication. My neighbour had a similar issue . He was instructed to attend his GP surgery to have his clips removed after his hip replacement. When he attended he was asked for the clip remover that he was supposed to have been given on discharge . He was sent home and told to go to the hospital ward to collect one! Crazy they didn’t have spare in stock . A walk to the Chiropodist today and a grocery delivery later .

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Meet up with DF getting over Covid went well and she is looking better but has had a huge fright. DH and I attended a new U3A yesterday and found it very welcoming, we shall be going back and hope to join a group. Off to meet friend for a coffee and sort the world out, just hope we can keep off the subject of the Prince, doesn't help our blood pressure.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from windy but dry, at the moment, Carlisle.
Yesterday was non-stop heavy rain all day, I just kept busy with this and that! I'm not going out today either, no point in possibly buying plants that will just get blown around the garden before I can get them in. I'd been wanting to get myself a fairly mature tree to make a more immediate impact then I realised I'd have to be digging an extra big hole in my heavy clay. I'm just not up to that so a smaller one it will have to be.

I'm sorry to hear your not so good news on the health front BlueBalou, I hope you enjoy your pampering session later.

A few health worries about on here currently. I wonder if we worry more about them when we're constantly hearing about the dire state of the NHS? I know I do. Agree with your 'rant' Urms.

Good morning from Shropshire.

The visit to the memory clinic was not successful resulting in my mum being very upset.I felt really upset too.It wasn’t the right clinic for mum’s problems which was apparent within about two minutes of the appointment starting but they carried on regardless.In the end I asked mum if she was alright to carry on and she was so upset she couldn’t speak so we ended the consultation.Where we go from here I have no idea.

We went out for lunch then did some shopping.We stayed with mum until she seemed herself again.My brother has said he will visit her today.

Today I will just do a few jobs around the house.DH will pop into town for a few things.

Good news that your stepfather hasn’t had any more nosebleeds Urms.DD suffers terribly with nosebleeds, worse one was 9 hours which included an emergency admission to hospital.Horrific at the time but got her the treatment she needed.Going on DD’s history three nights without a nosebleed sounds like it’s sorted🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Ooo, I think we are in for a sunny day in S Yorks.

Tired as a tired thing as busy yesterday so I'm hoping my 10am medical appointment can be Zoom - actually, they use Microsoft teams, I've put in a request - cross fingers as a phone call just isn't as good but that's The fall back.

It's tiring just getting dressed some days atm with CFS but i get to see a specialist on that in February..

But I got my weekly shop in yesterday evening. Price shocks on most significant items.

I've also had an appointment come through for consultant, I thought I'd have to wait longer than Feb 1st, but expect waits for tests etc after.

My surgery also has two specific prescription people, one a pharmacist and one an assistant to do the legwork. they are very good, but its true one has to be on the ball and join the dots for many medical things. And do it for N and D at times.

Yet these are usually just the same people who delivered an efficient service not so long ago. Its pressure of need - few have the time to do the job properly and follow up.

There are simply not enough resources, as far as I can see.

My thoughts are with GN's who are struggling health wise, and hoping todays meet ups go well.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a brightening South Yorkshire. It was so wet yesterday that I didn’t get out at all. A walk is on the cards today to blow the cobwebs away. I had my final physio check up with the hospital that put my new hip in and they have signed me off, with an open appointment for the next six months in case any issues arise. I am good to get back in my car if I want to, but I’m not going to push that one too hard. My son in law is going to be my co driver for the first forays, so I’ll just wait for him to find time to take me out and we won’t be going very far at first. I’m not in any tearing hurry. I have missed it though.

Wonderful cleaner pointed out staining on ceiling of one of the bedrooms so it looks like a roof leak. Excellent local builder can’t even come to look till next week so I will be neurotic every time it rains - and there is a lot of rain in the forecast. Not happy! Am also waiting till tomorrow to talk to the surgery about why my new blood pressure meds seem to have made no difference to the worrying numbers. Nothing like measuring it twice a day for making it rise.

Encouraging news from Urmston, frustrating news from Susan and sympathy inducing news from Maw. Hope things improve for all three.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest Lancashire coast.
My neighbour has noisy work going on next door which he warned me about, but I’m not bothered and I’m out this afternoon to a lunchtime recital and then the nail salon, although I hate being fussed about (pampered).
Nice Tuesday music club yesterday and I sang “Ma he’s making eyes at me”, “Smilin’ Through” and “Loves Old Sweet Song”. Felt a bit froggy though. Then the clearing up afterwards, but mitigated by the lovely homemade cakes we had scoffed.

Had long face time with cabin crew DD in the south. Their new uniform has been revealed and no one likes them and no hat! Just not as smart, very workaday.
I now have Duolingo French on my IPad and enjoying it.
It’s nice making plans Mick and thoughts to all with worries.

We had a lovely time looking after DGDs last night and putting them to bed. As soon as GD1 saw the car lights she flew down the drive straight at us for cuddles.
Today we will pick up GS from school we haven’t seen him since the 28th of December so can’t wait. He doesn’t come for cuddles but we kiss the top of his head and inhale him lol.

I was woken up this morning by a bouquet of flowers from my friends up in Stanley which are so colourful such a lovely surprise.

Enjoy your Meadowhall trip Grandmadinosaur try not to get too tempted by the lovely shops.

Good morning from Co Armagh where the rain has paused ! I’m going out to the Village club shortly , it would be nice to get there dry ! My hair got a blast of spray to combat the wind !
I’m dressed in layers , the hall hasn’t been used over the festive season and it might be freezing , or the clever tea ladies might have got the heating turned on early !

Late to post this morning another unsuccessful call to Drs, shall keep trying but may have to do what I feel should not have to happen and attend the urgent care centre.
Good to see Urms stepfather had a trouble free night shame about the district nurse problem.
Back to nursery pick up today must sort Dgs treat out, his first words on pick up are I'm hungry.
Will grab a cuppa 🍵 and catch up with everybody's happenings.

Morning from East Ren, I started to read posts but am stopping to write myself and will finish reading later, otherwise like quite a few days I won’t have time!

Hope your DSF continues to stabilise Urms. The inefficiency is horrific and seemingly widespread, it looks as though Covid etc has exposed as well as magnified many existing problems.

I also spent yesterday childminding due to the teachers’ strike and am baked and crafted out! (Not my natural forte). Another one in two weeks, oh deep joy😳.

Will push on with ironing before I head for my exercise class and catch up coffee so will just wish everyone a good day 🦩

I have done my zoom Zumba toning class & am just drawing breath before we go off to our Pilates class.....new day, new time & new venue. We now have to put this in our weekly diary so we remember to go on the correct day to the correct place!
I have had a very busy week so far - why is it always feast or famine? - so will have a very lazy afternoon catching up with everyone's busyness.

Good morning all from a bright cheery day on the Angus coast. Lovely to have the sun back after yesterday's wind and rain. I had an optician's appointment so had to go out in it - not pleasant. However the check-up showed that the macular hole isn't enlarging and vision good in the other eye so that was worth going out for! Apparently a macular hole is just 'a thing' and isn't to do with the condition macular degeneration, which was a relief to know.
All the tales of NHS/pharmacy inefficiency on here are quite scary and I dread the time when I shall have to call for their help - and that time is bound to come. It does seem odd that very elderly people are expected to make sure they have the correct medication or what have you in hand for the Health Visitors, or the right equipment for the hospital follow up etc. This situation has probably been building for a long while and ignored, with the demands of COVID having been the catalyst that has brought us to this, seemingly "suddenly". Oh dear, that turned into a bit if a rant, but so glad all is going better for your DSF Urms. He is indeed lucky to have you and not be completely alone as so many are.
I was supposed to be taking my friend out for lunch today but she has just phoned to say she's been up all night with a tummy upset and isn't up for it. I shall miss our outing - but there's lots to be getting on with here (including the ubiquitous tai chi paperwork 😉)

We have had quite a smooth run re. NHS, the odd hiccup quickly solved. As phone conversations are beyond DH’s reach we had to inform various agencies by letter, to contact me only to take and make any necessary phone calls on his behalf. GP surgery occasionally need to be kept on their toes. I agree with your DH, in a world of modern technology, joined up thinking /communication, shouldn’t be a problem!
GDs have no school today due to teacher strikes and are coming to ours for lunch, best medicine for DH.

Good morning all from Stockport which this morning is dull but at least dry.
We have had so much rain that it is a pleasant change.
I still shall not be going out though, my world has shrunk since covid, it is quite sad.
Susan I was upset for you and your mum about your experience yesterday.
When my H started down the same path probably 12 years ago, we were visited at home by a psychiatrist who stayed for a considerable time.
He chatted to him about football and slowly did the tests.
He then arranged an MRI and only when the results of that were ready did we visit the Memory Clinic for the diagnosis.
After that things went rapidly downhill.
The nurses who ran the clinic were I am sorry to say “not good”
Didn’t turn up for visits, when they did it was seldom the same one twice and it just seemed a box ticking exercise.
GP’s were not interested as we were under the mental health team.
I had hopes things had improved but it seems not.

Rant over for today but it does bring it all back.

A very late good morning from me here in Northampton; slept in till 9.15! It's a bright sunny day here after yesterday's wet and miserable weathet. I shall probably venture out to the well-being cafe this afternoon.

Spent most of yesterday afternoon on the phone to the travel company yesterday, and am awaiting a phone call from them today, not very satisfactory in my opinion.

I retorted that if he’d had his jab he wouldn’t have been so ill . He still refuses jabs , I got too heated ! Told him if he got it again he might not be so lucky, hospital might not save him this time

I have to go to the dentist shortly as a massive filling came out and an extra tooth added to my partial denture has fallen off - luckily I didn’t swallow it 🤣.

Mawthemerrier you are having a bad time - it sounds as though you maybe have one of the flu-type bugs that is going around. I hope you feel better soon.

Bluebalou sorry to read that your heart failure is getting worse. A friend has had that for some years and struggles with the limitations it places on what she can do.
