Good morning from Shropshire.

The visit to the memory clinic was not successful resulting in my mum being very upset.I felt really upset too.It wasn’t the right clinic for mum’s problems which was apparent within about two minutes of the appointment starting but they carried on regardless. In the end I asked mum if she was alright to carry on and she was so upset she couldn’t speak so we ended the consultation.Where we go from here I have no idea.

We went out for lunch then did some shopping. We stayed with mum until she seemed herself again. My brother has said he will visit her today.

Today I will just do a few jobs around the house.DH will pop into town for a few things.

Good news that your stepfather hasn’t had any more nosebleeds Urms.DD suffers terribly with nosebleeds, worse one was 9 hours which included an emergency admission to hospital.Horrific at the time but got her the treatment she needed.Going on DD’s history three nights without a nosebleed sounds like it’s sorted🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hope Marydoll is feeling better today💐

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good Morning Mick and everyone from windy but dry, at the moment, Carlisle.
Yesterday was non-stop heavy rain all day, I just kept busy with this and that! I'm not going out today either, no point in possibly buying plants that will just get blown around the garden before I can get them in. I'd been wanting to get myself a fairly mature tree to make a more immediate impact then I realised I'd have to be digging an extra big hole in my heavy clay. I'm just not up to that so a smaller one it will have to be.

I'm sorry to hear your not so good news on the health front BlueBalou, I hope you enjoy your pampering session later.

A few health worries about on here currently. I wonder if we worry more about them when we're constantly hearing about the dire state of the NHS? I know I do. Agree with your 'rant' Urms.

Well, I'm off for a bit of brisk action in the housework department so hopefully, you all have a good day.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Meet up with DF getting over Covid went well and she is looking better but has had a huge fright. DH and I attended a new U3A yesterday and found it very welcoming, we shall be going back and hope to join a group. Off to meet friend for a coffee and sort the world out, just hope we can keep off the subject of the Prince, doesn't help our blood pressure.
Best wishes to all those feeling unwell.

SusieB50 Wed 11-Jan-23 08:40:01

Good morning from a bright start again in East London . Rain is due though I’m sure . Urms Pleased your SF is OK now🤞the problem is solved .I agree so frustrating for all with the mix up in medication. My neighbour had a similar issue . He was instructed to attend his GP surgery to have his clips removed after his hip replacement. When he attended he was asked for the clip remover that he was supposed to have been given on discharge . He was sent home and told to go to the hospital ward to collect one! Crazy they didn’t have spare in stock . A walk to the Chiropodist today and a grocery delivery later .

Gingster Wed 11-Jan-23 08:32:44

Good morning all and it’s bright here in Essex. No sign of rain 🤞.
Yesterday was a lovely day with my friends at Stratford Olympic park but the weather was dire, so we stayed under cover with a long coffee break and then a long lunch. We won’t see each other until May, as one of them will be in Oz with her family.

Today Dd will pop in and I’ll see what she needs doing re her move next week. Such a lot to do.

Tonight is choir, so I must sort out the music required for this evenings session.

Kind wishes to all who are poorly, worried or just fed up.
Spring is on its way 🌹🌷🌸🌼

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is shining for a change.
DH saw the plastic surgeon yesterday and will be having his two lesions removed in a couple of months. One may need a skin graft. He is very laid back about it all.
I'm going into town on the train this morning for a few bits, a birthday card for a granddaughter who will soon be 14, an anniversary card for DH. We will have been married for four years at the end of the month.
This afternoon I will do a bit more of my jigsaw and prepare a chicken stirfry for tea.
Good to hear that your DSF has had no more nosebleeds Urmstongran, fingers crossed. Sorry to hear about the muddle up with the district nurse.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday xx

MawtheMerrier Wed 11-Jan-23 08:30:58

Good morning all from N Bucks where it is clear, windy and feels nippy - but that might just be me.
One of the worst nights I can remember for coughing and no sleep resulted in a LFT at 4.30 this morning as I could hardly have felt worse- including the headache, sore throat and earache.
But no, I can’t believe it’s not covid! How much worse do I have to get?
Just reading all your plans for the day have threatened to give me a relapse. I have 2 zoom classes today which are doable and somehow have to do something on the computer with a PDF from D and SIL’s solicitor to give evidence of the origins of some money I am lending/giving them towards their new house. As someone who can send and receive emails, do an internet shop and read books on my iPad, this looks like a bridge too far so I’ll have to ring them I think.
Oh for the days of pen and paper. Anyway my brain hurts.
Wishing you all a pleasant day 😷🤧😷🤒😷

NannyJan53 Wed 11-Jan-23 08:28:03

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

The trip to the Doctor yesterday ended up with me having 2 prescriptions I will have to take for life! Gel for my 'dry eyes' and I asked about the results of my blood test. Upshot is my cholesterol level was 7.6, so he advised Statins! I so wanted to avoid that! The pharmacy at the Surgery didn't have the eye gel, so I took prescription to Boots in town who said they have it in stock, and to come back in 10 minutes. Duly turned up to be told they couldn't release it from the other Pharmacy, who they had rung to be told they had released it. So Boots took my number to let me know when it is ready. Seems very odd, they have stock but I couldn't have it!

Today I am going out to lunch with my friend as I have a 50% voucher off main meals from Ember Inns. Then heard last night from my friend in Lincs who is currently in Hospital, blue lighted apparently in great pain. Tests revealed Appendicitis. Hopefully she will be home today.

What a palavar Urms for your DSF, it does seem there is no co-ordination between departments. Glad that the nosebleeds seemed to have abated though.

Hoping your DD is ok now Kitty, what a shock for you and her x

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Jan-23 08:17:53

Morning all

Dry and calm here, rain and wind forecast for later.

I have cooked the 7yr olds breakfast and made him a packed lunch, DH has just walked him to school (GS wants to walk on his own as we are next door but one to the local school, but school policy is that for early clubs an adult has to check them in)

Off to the gym this morning, must get my fitness levels up, every little helps (mind you I still ache in places I forgot I had after my personal training session Monday which I followed up with a Callanetics class)

Hopefully going to our local pub tonight as I really fancy fish and chips and honestly do not fancy the smell of cooking/eating it permeating the house #lazygran I am learning Urmstongran pleased your SF had another good night, it’s frustrating when the NHS is incapable of joining up the dots

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 11-Jan-23 08:10:40

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I need to get up. It is the monthly WI Coffee Social which I must be attend as I’m on the committee. It is always good fun. My brother in Australia was in touch last night. He and his partner have booked flights to come over here in April for my 70th. My sister has already booked her flights. Because of covid we haven’t been under the same roof since my niece’s wedding in December 2019. Have a good day everyone and Urms, I do hope the relevant people get their act together. It must be so disheartening.

Alygran Wed 11-Jan-23 08:08:54

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It was raining when I got up but now there’s a clear blue sky. It’s very windy.
Off to my charity this morning to make the coffee and chat to the mums. Film Club in the village hall this evening. It’s West Side Story this time. In between I hope to have a walk. Yesterday was so wet I didn’t get out.
Good to hear your DSF hasn’t had another bleed Urms. My elderly neighbour had this problem last year, ended up in hospital for a few days but has been fine since.
Take care everyone and have a good day.

Liberty Wed 11-Jan-23 08:06:00

A very good morning from what looks like a calm and so far dry Suffolk. We could tell from our flooded drive yesterday that the lanes would likely be flooded so we didn’t venture out to collect DH’s car from the garage. My keep fit classes restart this morning so I’ll pick him up after that and drop him off there. My keep fit class is a lovely one, about 15 or so friendly women varying in age from 60+-80+ and all up for a laugh and a joke. We get together apart from our weekly class a couple of times a year the last time being a lunch followed by crazy golf in the autumn.

A pile of ironing unfortunately has my name on it for the afternoon. Hope whatever your plans are you find some relaxation and peace.

ginny Wed 11-Jan-23 07:59:06

Good morning everyone.
Not feeling great this morning. It is our first craft club meeting this afternoon but I’ll see how I feel. Luckily my friend is in-charge of the project.
Otherwise an easy day, maybe catch up with the sketching print that I missed due to visitors being here and also do todays. Both quite challenging, something white and wallpaper !
Wishing all a good day and thoughts with those who are troubled or poorly.

dragonfly46 Wed 11-Jan-23 07:58:03

Good morning from a blustery Leicestershire, we are promised sun this morning.

Pilates first thing, then Ocado delivery then picking the car up from service.

Our surgery have just appointed someone who specialises in prescriptions Urms I am not sure how efficient he is but he sorted out some medicine for DH which was unavailable. I hope you get yours sorted today.

Chrissielou Wed 11-Jan-23 07:55:10

A dark but calmer start to the day weather wise in Oxfordshire. Everywhere is so wet and many fields flooded around us. We keep to higher ground when dog walking.
Working at home this week, much prefer it to going into the office. I'm not a very sociable person, although can pretend to be when required.
Sad to hear of all the health issues and for those with worries, and let's face it, that's most of us to some degree, have an calm day.

Beechnut Wed 11-Jan-23 07:44:07

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s not raining.

A few jobs to do and probably see if there is enough for the washing machine to go on.
Better news of your step father Urm. I expect the nurse has many times like that unfortunately.

Have the best day you can all 🌼

kittylester Wed 11-Jan-23 07:39:47

Good morning all from a, currently, dry North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was a bit full on in the Lester household. My appointment with the gp was encouraging but I came out of the practice to discover that DD3 had slipped on her morning walk round a local reservoir and the lovely lady who found her had rung 999. She had been told there would be a 6 hour wait. The ambulance actually only took 30 minutes. She has a badly sprained ankle rather than a broken one. We were on route to rescue her having collected DS1's wheelchair so, instead, collected her car and stood ready for further instructions. I think we will be on school run duties for a while.

In the midst of all this DH did a voluntary drive and I tried to put the house to rights after our weekend with DD2.

I hope today is calmer.

Pittcity Wed 11-Jan-23 07:32:18

Good morning from a dark, chilly Colchester. Yesterday was cold and wet. No rain expected until this afternoon now.
Usual Wednesday coffee meetup in the city centre this morning. Our group has been going for quite a few years and are always welcoming to new ladies.

Urms my Dad has his legs treated and dressed at a weekly surgery appointment. He has to make sure that the equipment is delivered to the surgery from the pharmacy before he goes. It's definitely an odd system and you need to be on the ball.

Love to all 🦩 x

baubles Wed 11-Jan-23 07:31:07

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where the incessant rain makes for a miserable outlook.

I got lots done around the house yesterday so felt quite pleased with myself.

It’s a work day for me so I’ll have to shake a leg.

Wishing you all the best day possible, hoping those feeling under par have a better day.

brook2704 Wed 11-Jan-23 07:28:48

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s just getting light and it looks windy and wet
Today I’m off to the gym first thing for a dance aerobics class and then a dentist appointment afterwards. Ive one tooth that’s really quite sensitive so I’m not sure what’s going on there, hopefully they’ll know and be able to sort it out
Such good news about your DSF Urms so pleased things seem a bit better and hope the injections can be sorted today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Jan-23 07:25:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5°, windy and wet. Urmston you are correct that health can turn so quickly. My lovely friend is an example of that. I am glad you weren't required last night for your sake and for that of your stepdad. BlueBalou💐 I'm glad Grandmattie that you enjoyed the meeting last night. Ashcombe I hope you feel better today.
Yesterday was busy with the two boys. It was very noisy too. I'm not used to that anymore. A sign of living alone I suppose. However all three of us survived. I enjoy spending time with them, even if I am exhausted by the end of it.
Today I have an early haircut as I had to cancel the last one due to covid. Then I'll visit mum. I'm not seeing my friend today as she has to go to the lawyer. She's had a UTI on top of her other health problems. I feel so sorry for her.
I made chicken curry last night and I have enough for today so this afternoon will be mainly pottering and doing nothing much. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Wed 11-Jan-23 07:21:00

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It feels cold but it's supposed to be dry today.
The art centre is temporarily out of action after flooding so our yarn group will be in the church hall. I hope to get this cardigan finished.
Then I have a hospital appointment for my hip.
It's my DB birthday today. He says he feels old so I reminded him that I would always be older 🤣
DD was looking after 7 DC yesterday during the teacher's strike.
I hope that the ambulance driver's strike doesn't impact on any of our GM era.
Have as good a day as you can.

grandMattie Wed 11-Jan-23 07:20:11

Urms, like you I learned the hard way for DH.
Hospice, GP, pharmacy, district nurses who incidentally were heroic in their attempts to help. The Surgeries were generally the stumbling block, followed by the pharmacy. I discovered (by bribing them with chocolates) that once they got to know me, they would order the drugs while waiting for the GP to bother sending the prescription. Good luck

Grandmadinosaur Wed 11-Jan-23 07:19:18

Good to hear your SF has had another night free of the nose bleeds Urms . Fingers crossed it carries on. Re the nurses visit yes it is sad and an annoying waste of precious resources that they can’t get their act together. As you say it sounds like it is replicated around the country. Hope it can be sorted for you soon.

Urmstongran Wed 11-Jan-23 07:06:59

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dark but dry. Busy down there below me this morning, a Trafford road sweeper lorry has just noisily trundled past, lit up like Christmas tree, the 6:35am train to Manchester Oxford Road has just pulled away from Platform 1 and, in the distance, I can see the red winking lights of a plane coming into land at Manchester airport.

I’m absolutely delighted to tell you all that there was no night time telephone emergency call from my stepfather. Yay! That’s now 3 consecutive nights. I’m hoping this means he’s turned a corner. From 2am I woke up every hour though (it’s on my mind very much after bedtime) and found myself just checking the time on my phone, dreading a call, but grateful there hadn’t been one.

Yesterday was challenging. My stepfather opened the door to a district nurse who had called to administer urgent Vit.B injections, every day for 5 days. She went away, asking my 90y old stepfather to ‘sort it out’ with his GP as she assumed he’d have them. He of course rang me. I was on the phone for over an hour, ringing the doctors surgery, who gave me the ‘hub’ number for Trafford district nurses. Turns out that Apparently the ampoules have to be ‘on the property’ when they call - and they weren’t. I rang the surgery back requesting an urgent prescription be dispensed today and when (if) they arrive I’ve said I’ll let the district nursing team know.

Left hands and right hands come to mind. Himself said ‘multinational companies can sort out major logistics smoothly yet the NHS departments cannot liaise between a doctor, a pharmacy and a district nurse’. I bet the poor district nurse was cross. That visit was a waste of her time. Just one tiny example of the inefficient coordination that goes on in the NHS. Replicate this up and down the country? No wonder there’s a black hole sucking in money and resources. Yet nowadays we even have the technology to assist!
Rant over.

Anyhoo ...
We are going over to him mid morning and picking up a list to do his M&S shop for him. He said last night he didn’t think he felt up to coming which is perfectly understandable so we’ll fetch his groceries. I said he can always see how he feels and change his mind if he wants when we call.

Have a good Wednesday if you can and while you can. These last couple of weeks have been an eye opener for me. How things can turn on a sixpence and how a person can go from coping to leaning can be quite alarming when events change.

Starting tomorrow I’m going to try to be succinct!
I may have to use bullet points ...
😁
