Old fashioned things you still do

I iron everything, wear an apron, make gravy from scratch when cooking a roast, use polish and a duster and make suet puddings for DH.
I use throws because DDog sneaks up on the settee, make tea in a teapot with a cosy if I’m feeling like it and rarely cook ready meals.
My adult DCs possibly think me old fashioned but I have done these all my life 😊

When I make fairy cakes I just decorate them with a little plain icing made with icing sugar and water or lemon juice. Not with a huge mound of butter cream that is taller than the cake itself.

I don't often add the glacé cherry as in days of yore, though.

I use real hankies, and I love ironing them, and tea towels. Love the sharp creases. Am seriously thinking of switching to flat be sheets for this very reason - it is not possible to iron a fitted bed sheet with precision!!

I have 3 mug trees. One was my DS school woodwork project.

I had a great aunt whose house was like a museum and she was preyed on by dodgy antique dealers.
The wallpaper dated from the 1920s and her DH first world war boots took pride of place.
To her nothing was an antique. They were her treasures.

I’ve never used a sat nav, following my nose and using maps has worked very well for the last 50 years.

A funny story about being old fashioned. When I used to clean my mother's house she insisted I used her old mop which was a white, string cotton mop head. It got down to about ten strings but she still insisted. When she went to the hairdresser, I would rush home and get my own Vileda mop and clean all her floors so she was none the wiser. Bless her!

We had an old bit of Panettone left. It made lovely bread and butter pudding. But I did make a bread pudding one time with hot cross buns .

Sending greetings cards. I still send Christmas and birthday cards but I know many people, both young and old, who think this is old fashioned.

My grown kid tells me I'm old fashioned because I use a mechanical timer rather than the time/alarm function on my phone.

crazyH you may well be right. I don’t like them anyway. Most of my mugs are too big and hang somewhat precariously.🤭

If I was out and felt I needed a cup of tea, I might go into a teashop, sit down, buy a cup of tea and drink it there.

I have never wandered around outside with a takeaway hot drink in my hand.

I still watch DVD’s & listen to vinyl records (although it seems vinyl is trendy again) I polish my shoes & boots with Cherry Blossom Polish using shoe brushes and I have a manicure set & always do my own nails. I use a teapot and knitted tea cosy when making tea for a few people.

Regarding Fullers Earth, when I was a young teenager we used to make face packs with it, not seen any for years, it was good stuff.

We go to the pictures not the cinema.

Milk goes in a jug, sugar in a bowl and butter in a dish!

Our car has a gear stick and needs a key in the keyhole to start it. And we use maps to navigate.

G'children enjoy a game of French cricket using my old tennis racquet from school.

I can cook,bake,make from scratch and always have,however,I have no one to cook for,so all scaled down for me.

Had bread for guests at christmas,which no one ate,I would have made bread pudding in the past, but no one eats bread pudding any more.

I have moved with the times,but not really through choice,I used to love the smell of bread pudding wafting through the house when my children where growing up.
