Well done Luckygirl you should feel very proud of yourself!

Oh, very nice! 👍 I’ve had Polos and even though they were the lowest-powered versions, they were fun to drive. Good in snow, too, which is quite important in NE Scotland.

You haven’t told us the most important thing, though - the colour! grin. I had a white one and a yellow one. I could never have had an affair, had I wanted one, wink when I owned the yellow one - people for miles around knew my car. 😂

Good for you. My car is 12 years old, so I am looking at new ones. The thing is that I still really like my car and they don't make that model anymore.

I have to realize at 61 that my next car purchase will be my 'retirement' car, so has to be good on gas, comfortable to drive and reliable. Also needs to be a hatchback for the dog. I wish we had a Volkswagen dealership nearby since I do like them. We are limited on choice because of being remote.

Yes, you’ve definitely done the right thing. Now go ahead and enjoy your purchase.😊

Thanks for all the encouragement. It feels like a big step but I think it is the right decision.

Congratulations. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I reckon you’ve done the right thing. I remember how savvy I felt when I bought my Polo all by myself. Turned out to be a decent car 😁

Well done indeed! In the time I've been in my home I've gutted it - well someone else did the work you understand, but choosing fixtures and fittings didn't worry me one jot but the thought of buying a car terrifies me!!

I got to thinking recently how come other drivers can park so perfectly without all the 'toing and froing' I do to park straight. Then I realised, it's the parking sensor. I want one!

Enjoy driving your new car Luckygirl3.

You have made considered decision on what you think is right for you, so well done. Fortunate that you were able to have your SIL give it the once over before buying, helps to have some back up when making a major purchase.

Well done Luckygirl and why not ? Two years ago I bought a 2 year old Kia Rio, after having a Honda Jazz for 7 + years. I am divorced and as you say, it was a big chunk out of my savings. I hardly do any mileage, about 3500 miles a year.
My friend has always had Polos - very reliable cars, but a bit out of my price range.
Happy and safe motoring !

Well done Luckygirl3. I’m about to embark on the same thing - it’s daunting.

This is the first time I have had to buy one on my own, although the previous one was in my name because my OH had Parkinsons - and I am hoping I have done the right thing!

We have always had VW Polos, and the current one is 10 years old, lives outside and is a bit damp inside (which causes demisting problems) and has no parking sensors. I felt that I would feel safer in a newer car with some modern refinements.

I have found one which has parking sensors and only has 11,000 on the clock in spite of being registered in Oct 2019. My SIL is a mechanic and he has looked at it for me and thinks it is worth the money and that I am getting a fair deal on my old car.

It is still a large chunk out of my savings, but I felt that I needed to have a car I would feel more secure about in order to be out and about. I live a long way from the nearest town.

I just hope I have done the right thing!
