Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and its been raining here in brackley as well.
Yesterdays Hospital visit was OK , I get impression an operation will be done in next few months , but will have a stomach scan first .
I will not be going on my trip to Harrogate in March due to the above , I have only paid the deposit so no great loss .
The trip to the JR had its hiccups , the bus I got on which goes direct did not start ,so i got a bus into Summertown north Oxford ,and caught a bus from to the JR , at least I did not have to walk up the hill to the main entrance.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dull Black Country, where at least it isn't raining.

Great walk yesterday along the canal to Kinver, a coffee stop and a walk back to the cars. Then I caught the bus to Merry Hill in the afternoon for a few last minute bits and pieces for our trip to Budapest next week.

Over to Mums today to take her out for lunch and hopefully a walk if it is dry.

I often think of Gilly Urms and hope she is ok, also the crumpet queen.

Hoping too things improve for Marydoll and hoping Maw is on the mend.

Wishing you all a lovely Friday.

MorningMick and All.

A clear sunny day here in South Bucks for a change.

About 2 years ago Marydoll and myself were in touch with Gillybobs trying to persuade her to return to GN. We emailed each other a few times, but I realised after a while she didn’t intend to return to GN and I decided that I had to back off as she obviously wanted to be left in peace.

Good morning all and it’s dry but still a bit of a breeze here in Essex.

Yesterday was productive helping Dd with some of her packing. The twin boys (16) are a great help and very useful with their strong arms and height. Still lots to do and Dd is amazing with her get up and go, considering her condition at the moment. Her leg was very swollen last night, so she must try to take it easy today.

Today we’ll meet up with our Friday friends for a drink and light lunch at our regular pub. Last week none of us could go , so had to let the landlady know , as we are the only ones that turn up, at this time of year.

Dh is still in pain with his sore ribs. Not much we can do about that! Just takes time.

Happy packing Urms - you will enjoy Spain even more after your busy and worrying few weeks.

I hope you all have a pleasant day. Hope Marydolls health, meds and ceiling get sorted asap. 🙏

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a blustery Hull.

Love to our gran friends who are feeling under the weather this morning. 💐

Urms I was thinking about Pantglas yesterday wondering how she is.

This morning I have my first yoga of the new year. I need to make a curry paste in prep for a chicken curry for my party tomorrow. I was going to make the whole thing today but with it being chicken probably best to make it on the day.
Picking up GS from school this afternoon.
Yesterday seemed so full of bad news which shocked us from wider family and people we know. What’s going on. Woke up to the news Lisa Marie Presley has died. I’ll definitely need my relaxing yoga this morning.

Wishing you all a good Friday the 13th. Virtual hugs to those with illness and stress. 🌻🌻

NanKate Fri 13-Jan-23 08:22:16

Hoping for better news from Marydoll 💐

hollysteers Fri 13-Jan-23 08:23:14

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest Lancashire coast.
We have certainly had some wind here, as have others. I thought the house might lift off as in the Wizard of Oz..
Hope all your medical arrangements work out well Mick and I’m sorry about your holiday.
I’m off to art group soon reluctantly but like it once there. Will have a couple of crumpets, which reminds me of our much missed crumpet Queen.
I have hyacinths and blue Iris on the kitchen windowsill which are cheery.
Thoughts to all with troubles.

Liberty Fri 13-Jan-23 08:24:16

Good morning all from what looks like a calm and dry Suffolk,so far! Just enjoying my first cuppa which always tastes the best of the day. Will catch up reading your posts later and hope they contain news of pleasant things planned for the day and not too much sadness or ill health.

I’m meeting a good friend for a lazy catch up lunch in a local pub. We normally meet up every couple of weeks but haven’t seen each other since a pre Christmas lunch on the 20th December because we both tested positive for COVID on Christmas Day! Luckily we’ve both had 5 jabs and got the virus mildly. She has no ongoing symptoms and my DH and I both still have a loss of taste but I think it’s getting better.
I decided to test this with a glass of Malbec last evening and, thank goodness,I could enjoy the flavour.

Hoping for a good day for all and an easier day than yesterday for those with worries and health problems.

Good morning Mick and all....I too miss all those ladies URMs and the lady in Cornwall who made things out of concrete...
Friday 13th is son number 3s birthday..he was a Friday 13th baby and my daughter was born on Halloween ...take care everyone 💐

Good morning from blustery Leicestershire. No ominous clouds here kitty they are scudding across the pink sky at great speed.

Had a lovely coffee morning yesterday with old friends from the golf club and DD picked up the keys to their new house. They now have to sell their old one!

Podiatrist this morning then a restful day. Must go to a pin machine as well as none of DH’s cards worked on the underground,

I was just thinking about gillybob last night. We are missing quite a few posters.

Enjoy your break Urms and I hope Marydoll is feeling brighter and has her medication.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 13-Jan-23 08:37:23

Number 2 son was born on the 13 August. Just. I was all geared up for him to be born on the Glorious 12th. However he was born at 12 minutes past midnight on the 13th, which happened to be the midwife’s birthday!

harrigran Fri 13-Jan-23 08:38:36

Good morning from the NE where we have gale force winds, it has been a very noisy night.
Yesterday I spent the whole day washing and ironing and ended up with bad backache. I was very cross because for some reason I could not get Classic FM on the radio and that's what helps me through the ironing.
A quiet day to myself before the family come at the weekend.
Take care if you are out and about.

Abitbarmy Fri 13-Jan-23 08:41:51

Good morning everyone from a damp and breezy North Yorkshire. I don’t post very often and even less so lately as have been waking up so late. I don’t know what’s going on as I’m usually someone who doesn’t get or need 8 hours sleep. Had a very satisfying phone call yesterday from the endocrinologist who is investigating my dodgy thyroid tests. He is going to do more tests and scans so if there’s anything going on they will find it. Plan on doing some de-cluttering today whilst DH goes to a funeral of an old but not not old age-wise colleague who sadly was taken by cancer. She leaves a 10 yr old daughter so particularly heartbreaking. Having been widowed many years ago and left with two small children, I remember vividly the dreadfulness of it.
I hope everyone has the best day they can today, and Urms trip goes to plan, I’m jealous. Hope to hear better news from Marydoll also.

Alygran Fri 13-Jan-23 08:42:26

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It was very wet and windy overnight. The for sale sign two doors along has snapped and the flag bit is across the garden.
Off to the coast today to have a walk and lunch with a friend in Saltburn. It’s breezy there at the best of times!
Jazz Cub this evening.
Safe flight tomorrow Urms. Enjoy your break.
DD2 sent some possible holiday destinations through last night. She is contacting the travel agent today. Last year we were left with little choice as we were a bit late getting sorted.
Hope the poorly people are feeling better today.

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Jan-23 08:43:37

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and dry. The wind has abated from yesterday. I hope your operation is soon Mick. I, too, miss the posts from the ladies mentioned. They added something to my day. Urms safe journey tomorrow.
Yesterday I pottered about and didn't do much. I was feeling really low and depressed at the situation with my son. I still find it hard that he cut us all off this time last year. Anyway, there's nothing I can do about it so I'm trying to be positive today.
I woke today after nearly eight hours sleep. I was awake a few times but that's usual. So today I feel rested. I will have to go to Aldi for food but finally the plumber is 'supposed' to be replacing my shower today. That means I'll have to stick around so Saturday housework will get done today. Macaroni cheese for dinner. Have a good day all.

EkwaNimitee Fri 13-Jan-23 08:49:14

Good morning Mick and everyone from windy and showery Carlisle. It was a very wild evening and night and I was thankful I wasn't still in my last residence which was very exposed to the Irish Sea gales. As the weather promised to be better today, I thought I would have my postponed visit to a big garden centre on the other side of Carlisle. I have vouchers to spend! Plus I am sick of being stuck indoors by this dark wet weather which is getting me down. I'm still humming and hawing but will probably go, they do have a cafe and a huge indoor area if things get bad.

Thinking of you, Marydoll, if only all our good wishes could bring about actual improvements in your situation!

And have the best possible day all.

Georgesgran Fri 13-Jan-23 09:02:52

Good morning from a windy Durham. Gale force through the night, but other than a few overturned tubs and pots and my garden furniture upside down in the middle of the lawn, there appears to be no real damage.
I’ve requested a telephone appointment with my GP because the cystitis isn’t really going away. I’m a stranger to the surgery, only going for my annual blood test – so it’s all new to me.
I often wonder what happened to sheepandcattle who posted regularly and I believe scentia is taking a sabbatical?
I hope SueD’s DS responds to his treatment and Baggs DD gets some benefit from hers.
Please take it easy Maw and MaryD - hope her meds can be sourced - what a state!
Enjoy Saltburn Alygran - is the funicular working?
Will have to stay in today, keeps me out of mischief as it’s Friday 13th!
Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Fri 13-Jan-23 09:04:05

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, 7°C.
That's a bit of a wait for your cancer op Mick 😔 and a shame about the cancelled holiday.

Another day of being confined to barracks, but I'm going to try and come downstairs for a wee while. It's so easy to lie in bed, do nothing and wallow.
I am unable to do very much at the moment, any exertion brings on an attack of breathlessness and dizziness and yesterday's shenanigans didn't help!
The sodden plaster and water has made such a mess in the kitchen. It appears the valve has been leaking for ages and water had accumulated above the ceiling.
After eight washes by DH under my supervision, the grey floor tiles and marble worktops are still white!
The British Gas engineer was outstanding, he spent over four hours on a very tricky job. Seeing how unwell I was, he was so kind and kept apologising for the mess.

On a more positive note, all our downstairs ceilings could have been damaged, but that disaster was averted in time. Mr MD did flap and hesitated telling me, because I was so feeling so ill.
He brought me a cup of tea at 7am, before telling me. Why? He was afraid the shock would trigger an angina attack. ( I'm having them on a daily basis), It was an even bigger shock to see the state of the kitchen and that he had panicked!!
He hadn't the sense to turn off neither the water nor heating, so the system was still pumping water through the leak. 😱😭😤
I literally fell out of bed, rushing to deal with it.
Having no voice again , posed yet another problem. British Gas' automated system, nor Alexa couldn't recognise my hoarse voice! I wanted to scream and scream and scream, but nothing came out! 😁
You couldn't make it up. I know sound like a fake poster, who is making it all up!! #noticebox from Glasgow!

About four years ago after a new upstairs bathroom was fitted, the radiator in my small craftroom stopped working, we had umpteen plumbers and gas engineers out, all to no avail.
The only way to find the problem, would have been to lift all the floors upstairs (new carpets and tiling 😱), so I left it.
Whilst poking about in the the ceiling, the engineer noticed something strange, a closed valve on a pipe. Half an hour later, after four years, the radiator was working again!! I could have hugged that engineer.

I was touched by all the kind messages yesterday, it gave me such a boost, as I have been feeling very sorry for myself..
However, think I should perhaps clarify my situation. I was too unwell to post this week, but feel a wee bit better this morning. Light at the end of the tunnel?
The other reason was, I didn't want to bring this thread down, and diminish others' problems.
I'm now in the later stages of heart failure, caused by my RA and certain genetic factors. Unfortunately, my condition is quite unusual and there is little intervention, which would improve my quality of life. The medication is solely to keep my very high BP and heart rate at a safe level, thus preventing yet another heart attack. The priority is to keep me out of A&E.

Unfortunately, there is a manufacturing problem and national shortage of my medication, and two, one of them the new drug, will be unavailable until February. There are no other suitable options, due to contra indication problems and drug sensitivity, so a number of drugs have been discounted.
My GP spoke personally to the cardiology professor, while I was present, and has also emailed his secretary. We all know the state of the NHS, so it's a waiting game now.
It so good to hear that some posters on here have actually received excellent medical care and are making good progress.

My dear pal Grammaretto, glad to hear you are now on the list for a new hip at last.
Maw, I hope you are over the worst and Susan, so sorry to hear about your mum. She could be my late mum's twin! 💐

I'm going back to read all your news now, then contact the insurance company about the damage.

Have the best day, you can folks.

dustyangel Fri 13-Jan-23 09:05:10

Good morning from a dry Algarve. I’m having my usual cuppa in bed so haven’t actually looked at the weather yet but the crack in the skylight blind is showing signs of sun. It’s 9°C .

Very little planned today, DH has taken the car to the garage for some necessary work and within a few minutes John at the garage will bring him back. I feel warm here so I might be able to catch up with you all before I get up. It depends how the posts have multiplied since I started.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 13-Jan-23 09:06:46

I’ve very fond memories of spending time in Saltburn as a child Alygran I had relatives who lived not too far away and my dear grandparents took me every summer. Happy days. Enjoy your day there.

dustyangel Fri 13-Jan-23 09:12:36

Oh Marydoll I wish I could give you a big hug. A timely reminder that it’s only enjoyable lying in bed if it’s your own choice. 💐

aggie Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:17

Good morning from Co Armagh where all is comparatively quiet after a tumultuous night , things had been put away or tied down so no apparent damage
I popped out in my bare feet with the robins oats , he hopped about screaming at me to get on with it !
Anyway it’s not icy
I’m off to painting class shortly , it’s great to get back to a sort of normality
Wishing all our poorly people a better day , and elusive medication sorted , no candelabra in our nearly refurbished chapel , but prayers are being freely sent to those who need them

luluaugust Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:37

Good morning from a sunny, very blowy W Kent. Off to the local farm shop this morning for sausages as I am feeding two GC this evening. I know an apple crumble will be hoped for, so that should keep me occupied enough for today.
Marydoll what a situation to be re the tablets, my DH had similar problems with supplies a couple of months ago.
Very best wishes to all under the weather or worrying about a problem.

Taichinan Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:58

Good morning Mick and all. The sun is just over the horizon on the Angus coast and it looks to be a nice day. Washing out I think.
I was told a new fish shop had opened up in town so paid it a visit after tai chi yesterday. It is really good and the owners are so enthusiastic and friendly. I do hope they manage to make a go of it. I bought breaded haddock, which was lovely, and I have fish cakes for tonight's tea. Oh, and they make their own Cullen skink so I had a pot of that for lunch yesterday.
Today I must call the Handiman and hope he can resolve the leak which has appeared under the kitchen sink - he's a fraction of the cost of a plumber and I'm told he's very good and can turn his hand to anything 🤞.
I was sad to read yesterday if how poorly you have been Marydoll - and those holes in your ceiling are definitely not what the doctor ordered. I hope your meds are sorted pdq and you begin to feel more like yourself again soon.
Thinking of all the others with not the best of health too, and hope you have a better day. Enjoy all your doings everybody, and enjoy your visit back to your other home Urms - so glad your Stepfather is on the mend. Take care everyone x

Greyduster Fri 13-Jan-23 09:24:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is trying hard in South Yorkshire but it’s touch and go. I slept in this morning - the wind was doing its best to empty a skip along the road and large plastic containers were blowing about. Then I rolled over onto my new hip and the pain woke me up. It don’t like it! DD is coming over today to do a couple of jobs, take me shopping and we’ll have coffee at a nearby garden centre. I cleaned all the floors yesterday so there won’t be a lot for her to do. I suppose I’ll get told off!
Alygran enjoy your walk - I haven’t been to Saltburn for years. I’m told it’s a little jewel now.
Have the best day you can folks. I’ve just noticed it’s Friday 13th😱!

mumofmadboys Fri 13-Jan-23 09:29:33

Hope you soon feel a bit better Marydoll. Not helped at all by ceilings coming down!
