Good morning Mick and everyone from chilly but bright Carlisle where the sun has only just got up. It's 4C at the mo. Yesterday evening and night were wild, with 50mph gusts--according to the Met. Worse down the coast where I used to be. However, hollysteers, it looks like you will have a nice sunny day for your trip up here today.
Yesterday, I had a long phone chat with my sister after I got back from shopping then, after lunch, when I thought I might get out in the garden, it turned grey and windy so it was down to reading the papers.
Today....maybe the garden, I have a small tree to relocate and another to put in its place. A slow careful job for me. I'm hoping that this summer I will be sitting and admiring more than digging holes. My new neighbour is interested in starting gardening and is planning for borders so I'm looking forward to developments there.

Matt made me laugh this morning Urmston, shouldn't have really, he was sadly on the mark. As for your time difference, I was surprised to find that, on our favourite spot on the east coast, we were on the Greenwich meridian. I always thought of Iberia as sticking out more into the Atlantic.. It's those flat maps distorting things I guess.

And now I'm off to do a few minor jobs so will wish you all a hopefully enjoyable Sunday.

Good morning all. After a very windy and wet night, it is much calmer and drier so far this morning.
Glad you reached Malaga safely, urms. Enjoy the warmth and sunshine.
A quiet day here after being out for the afternoon yesterday. Will potter around doing a few jobs and then read, I think.
Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the rain has momentarily stopped.

DD rang yesterday to suggest we pop over if we had no other plans. It was lovely to see most of the children although the eldest was out at a birthday party.

Poor DH got soaked to the skin twice yesterday walking the dog who was none too happy either. Here’s hoping for a better day today.

Church later then I’ll make a batch of bolognese sauce, some for us and some for the freezer.

I’ll try to find that film Kalu, I’m always looking for recommendations as I like to have something to watch while I crochet.

Have the best day possible everyone. Good wishes to the ill and worried.

Wyllow3 Sun 15-Jan-23 09:12:26

Morning from a wet S Yorks but according to the forecast its going to get brighter but colder. I'll welcome the sun and wrap up!

Quakers, and maybe the gym after. My CFS is worse, so one thing a day or days in bed are becoming the norm. Hibernation seems right for this time of year.

Best for poorlies and may family, outings, and holidays go well.

Good morning from a bright, chilly S Hampshire. Your lovely picture has an air of Beardsley hollysteers.
Never stop your descriptions Urms we can vicariously enjoy your happy place.
Yesterday was wet, again, so it was the weekly paper and not much else, MrJ was working, we watched Glass Onion in the evening, very funny.
Today will be a brisk walk in the chill, pub later for the meat draw and bbq pork steaks for dinner.
Enjoy your day if you can 🦩🦩

A late good morning from Inverness, we’ve grey clouds, frost on the cars and it looks a bit windy
I’ve only just woken up, but it took me ages to get to sleep last night so I’ve not really had any extra sleep. I’ve nothing much planned for today just a gentle pottering around the house and a bit of decluttering
So good to hear your DH is now sleeping better kalu and he’s got more energy. Hoping things continue to improve from now on
Pleased you arrived safely in Malaga urms I wish I was back there in the sunshine. I must get another holiday booked somewhere!
The crème egg research sounds such a fun job grandmabatty happy memories!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all and it’s dry and sunny. How lovely! 🌞.
Yesterday was monsoon weather.

Dd and family are coming for lunch after little DGD has her swimming lesson. They move on Thursday so their house is topsy turvy . They will appreciate being here for a while.

I’m not surprised your sf is tired Urms after all he is 90!
Try not to worry about him and enjoy your ‘happy place’.

I was watching ‘take a hike’ on tv and they were on the Isle if Skye. One of the walkers produced ‘tablet’ which they all enjoyed. Reminded me of Marydoll. I’d never heard of it before. 😉.

Hope all your Sundays are fundays. 🙏

Greyduster Sun 15-Jan-23 09:25:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Wyllow has given you our local weather and it is I deed making an effort to brighten up which means I might get to stretch my legs - when I eventually get up! I had hot chocolate before I went to bed last night and slept like a top. I spoke to GS last night who had just come back from an indoor climbing weekend organised by his school. He was super excited about it but complained that three of their group had a big room with an en-suite bathroom while he and the others had a Guinea pig hutch. I told him that life is a bit like that so he’d better get used to it😁!
Nothing much on the cards today; I’ll make a cake, and potter.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a windy NE yet again, it was a wild night.
Had a lovely afternoon and evening with DS and GD2.
DIL is off on a course tomorrow so DS will have to do the school run which is half an hour each way even when it is not rush hour, he will have to work from home in between.
GD1 sent a message last night to say she was sorry she didn't visit but she had to work on an art project, such a caring teenager.
SIL will visit this afternoon and we will cook dinner together, today we are having duck confit with dauphinoise potatoes, roast root vegetables and green beans.
Have a good day.

luluaugust Sun 15-Jan-23 09:35:42

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent. Today I am cooking the turkey crown I had in the freezer just in case. Having spent yesterday defrosting the freezer I decided I better get it cooked and done with. I guess we will be tired of it by the time it finally goes.
A chat with my DB now to catch him up with family events.
Enjoy the eggs Marydoll, enjoy Malaga Urms
Good wishes.

Susan56 Sun 15-Jan-23 09:41:13

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday we managed to tick quite a few things off our to do list.I normally make a list in January of what we want to achieve in the year but it can be a bit overwhelming so this year we are trying monthly goals.

Todays plans are to clear out the under the stairs cupboard and book a holiday. We are torn between Scotland which we know we love and Norfolk we have never visited.

Greyduster I was saying to DH last night that I had always wanted to try indoor climbing. He said well you still could.I don’t think my arthritic joints would agree with him!

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Greyduster Sun 15-Jan-23 09:52:47

Susan, it is very physical. My GS is a month shy of 16, lithe and strong, but even he found the longer stretches taxing. But perhaps you could try bouldering, or some of the “taster” climbs which might be fun. Never say never!

Georgesgran Sun 15-Jan-23 09:57:31

Good morning from Durham - quite calm now after an absolutely wild night. (The weather, not me!).
Yesterday’s admin went well, all cleared, and I even did my tax return. What they say I owe seems about right. Result!
I’m pleased to say the cystitis is responding to the antibiotics but my early night backfired in that I was awake from 2:15 AM just listening to the howling gale and hoping the ridge tiles stayed in place.
Meeting up later with DD2and DGS2 at a local garden centre, then I’ll bring her little dog here for a week, as she has to go away and it helps her DH.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and all from another lovely day on the Angus coast. It's getting much colder though - a max of 4° today with a yellow warning for ice. It was -something° during the night. Urms our sunrise here is 8.36 and gradually getting earlier - joy! So glad you're back in your other happy place and SF is doing well. Don't read too much into his tiredness though - all part and parcel of getting older. And his poor body has taken a bit of a battering recently which will take him some time to get over. Now relax and enjoy the Spanish sunshine.
Oh Marydoll, I wish you hadn't mentioned Cadbury's cream eggs! I'm just glad I'm going nowhere near a shop today! Glad your family are taking good care of you.
Enjoy your quilt making Grandmattie - your love for Philip will be in every stitch, and his girlfriend will know that. What a lovely thing to do.
Glad you're feeling brighter Kalu, you've had such a worrying time. Winter sunshine is a great healer.
Yesterday was an 'achieving' day for me - in particular that tai chi paperwork is no longer in the to do pile! It really didn't take all that long at all, but procrastination had made it grow arms and legs - as it does. Nothing planned for today. My laurels will be well and truly sat on 😁😇
I hope all the poorlies feel a little better and that the sun breaks through the clouds in some way for everyone. Enjoy your Sunday x

GrannySomerset Sun 15-Jan-23 10:07:29

Yesterday’s flood went down as quickly as it came up, leaving a trail of damage for some neighbours though we seem to be safe. Raining again, though, so not going anywhere today though DS and family are due later this morning - provided the floods don’t prevent them from reaching us.

Thinking enviously of Urms in the sunshine and sympathetically of Marydoll and hoping we all have a good enough day.

Susan56 Sun 15-Jan-23 10:11:59

Thank you Greyduster. Will look up bouldering🧗🏻‍♀️

Litterpicker Sun 15-Jan-23 10:24:07

Good morning Mick and all. Sunny here in coastal West Sussex. I’m so glad it has stopped raining for a while.

I hope it stays dry long enough for us to have a walk later. I always struggle through January - keep posting about Malaga Urmstongran, I would like to be there but hearing about it will cheer me up 🙂

Have the best day possible. Hope all goes well will your scan tomorrow Mick

hulahoop Sun 15-Jan-23 10:33:22

It's a bright morning here after a wild evening and night.Alexa says it's 4degrees .Another nothing on agenda day. I have just put a cotton wash on May hang larger things out for a blow. Urms I'm envious !! Hope all find a bit of sun today.

BlueSapphire Sun 15-Jan-23 10:35:25

Good morning everyone from a windy but dry Northampton, 7° here today. No plans for today except catch up with the weekend newspapers, clean and tidy the kitchen and watch some.tv. Steak for dinner tonight, so will give it a bashing with the steak hammer and put plenty of black pepper on it.

Went into town on the bus yesterday, as I wanted to get DD a gift voucher from our excellent independent jewellers - she turns 40 on Thursday. I'm never sure of her taste, so this will let her choose something nice. We have a big family lunch booked for next Sunday. I very nearly came out of the shop with a new pair of ear-rings, but on closer inspection I changed my mind.

Then into the bank to pay in a cheque, and then had a nice lunch of fish and chips at a recently refurbished bar in town. It was a favourite place of ours in the 1970s, but gradually fell into neglect and disrepair. Nice to see it doing well again. The large glass of sauvignon blanc went down well too!

Then back on the bus to the little retail park to pick up an order, and do a top-up shop in M&S Food and Sainsbury's. Was home about 4.30, thankful to sit down as my back was
still aching after my 'fall' on Thursday. Didn't need to cook last night as I was still stuffed from lunch! Feeling much better this morning, and will take it easy today.

No doubt you will be enjoying the lovely sunshine today Urms! The change will do you good.

Happy Sunday to all.

aggie Sun 15-Jan-23 10:43:46

Good morning from a bright still Co Armagh, yesterday wind has gone thank goodness !
I’m frantically crocheting at a shawl/ throw / whatever for a baby born on New YearsDay , I’m not enthralled by the yarn , I hope the mum likes it , after all isn’t it the thought that counts ?
grandMattie I hope you got on ok at the service , you do seem a bit “down” , time for a move ?
Marydoll I am jealous of the crème eggs , but I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and my waistline doesn’t need them , I’ve even contemplated binning the second layer of the chocolates my eldest Grandson bought me !!
Might be a step too far ! 😂

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Jan-23 10:45:29

Morning all,

Blue sky here but rather breezy.

Enjoy the warmth Urmstongran that part of the world is my happy place also.

A lazy day, and we are going out for a late Sunday Lunch (6ish) I should sort out a wardrobe, but not sure it will happen.

(((Hugs))) to all our morning friends 🙋‍♀️🦩

annsixty Sun 15-Jan-23 10:48:15

Good morning from the usual wet and dreary Stockport.
I didn’t get round to posting yesterday as I had a duvet day feeling unwell and very tired.
Urmstongran although I am 3/4 years younger than your SF I think it is ok to feel tired.
Some days I feel tired again by 11am and close my eyes for 10/15 minutes on the sofa.
It is just getting old.
I had a decent night’s sleep and feel better today but will take it easy.
I hope all our poorly ones and family who are poorly soon improve, this miserable weather isn’t helping at all.Have the best day you can everyone.

Blossoming Sun 15-Jan-23 11:09:03

Good morning everyone. Another cold, damp day here. I’m going to try and get to grips with my new Fitbit today.

Hope all goes well tomorrow Mick, enjoy your trip Urms it sounds wonderful.
Enjoy your Sunday all.
