Good morning from E Kent. It’s too dark for details, but it’s dry and there doesn’t seem to be a frost. The waning moon was bright in the eastern sky, We are reaching the heady heights of max of +1C today!
Did a lot of housework yesterday then had an unexpected catch-up with some ladies. That was really nice as I hadn’t spoken to anyone since Friday when DD called.
Today, I’ve got my lovely decorators coming to patch up all my downstairs doorframes damaged by DL’s wheelchair.
Tai chi later, then my pc man is calling to do a remote check as to why opening Windows takes such a long time.
May everybody have a day where they are in a good place and feel content. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -4° and very frosty. No snow in the night, thank goodness. Mick I'm glad it went well for you. Grandmattie it was nice that you had a catch up.
Yesterday was hard work because dgs2 isn't well with some virus or other. He wouldn't nap much but didn't want to do anything much. I suspect today will be much of the same. I will probably be in bed early tonight. Have a good day all.

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s dark and definitely cold in our corner of Somerset, a fine day forecast

Yesterdays trip over the bridge went well. Having a younger person around really helped. A good beginning including two trips to the recycling centre, we think another two or three to go. It’s 12 years since the shed door was opened, it contains a lifetime of DIY ‘this will be useful one day’ items and many, many once expensive tools. As you can imagine much had decayed, helped along by some visiting mice.

Dentist this morning. Mr C has to perform a throat and nasal covid test every day now in advance of a procedure in Friday, we’re hoping we don’t forget. The meter man returns this afternoon for round four with the gas meter. In between it all I’ll iron and remove some dust.

Take it easy today mick, as you say it’s far too cold for being still outside. A nice surprise for you yesterday grandmattie.

Stay warm everyone, my thoughts are with those struggling in whatever way. Hope Tuesday is gentle with us all.

Urmstongran Tue 17-Jan-23 06:35:02

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Málaga. It’s still very dark here but the forecast later is for sunshine and 18°C. It’s Tuesday so it’s my Ladies Who Wine afternoon, yay! I’m really looking forward to seeing my two friends who live out here. We will have a lot of catching up to do as I last saw them in November.

I will shower, breakfast then coffee and read some more of the novel on my Kindle. It’s ‘Portrait of a Marriage’ by Maggie O’Farrell who wrote the fabulous ‘Hamnett’. Then it’s a wash and blow appointment before I set off straight from the salon. My hair looks like wild sage so I’m glad I popped in to make an appointment yesterday.

Glad to hear your appointment went well yesterday Mick and hope your treatment pathway goes well for you.

Enjoy Tuesday all who can. I do understand why some folk struggle - it’s a tough time of the year and brings challenges for many. x

Nannagarra Tue 17-Jan-23 06:38:31

Good morning from -1 degree Sefton.
Glad to learn your scan went well Mick.
Just as I posted yesterday the roofers arrived to put in a whole day’s work and make massive strides. Will they be keen to go on an icy roof today I wonder.
Nothing particular is on my agenda. Possibly I’ll potter in M & S which I hear plans to expand. There is no urgency to food shop: DH has made a chilli con carne - perfect in this weather.
Have the best Tuesday possible.

Morning all from a frost bitten West Oxfordshire. I may pop into our nearby town today to sort out my iPad which refuses to charge. OH is getting very excited about the Bee Keeping course he is starting tonight! Otherwise I have a quiet day apart from some admin. I bought elder son’s partner a magazine subscription for Christmas but she hasn’t had one delivered yet. I will have to chase them up. Oh, I know. I have to find a photograph of myself in this village for the WI competition tomorrow! Have a good day.

BlueBalou Tue 17-Jan-23 07:06:25

Good morning from a cold, icy Wiltshire 🥶 Apparently a number of accidents because of black ice so cancelling today’s appointments and will rearrange them.
I slept very badly so a quiet day here.
Stay safe and warm everyone x

dragonfly46 Tue 17-Jan-23 07:13:32

Good morning from a frosty Leicestershire.

NWR was cancelled last night as we had a covering of snow in the afternoon then it froze.

Not much on today except the cleaners who are coming for the first time since before Christmas. I never seem to get it looking as good as they do.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Jan-23 07:17:09

Morning all

There doesn’t appear to be any frost, my iPad is telling me it’s -4° outside.

Changing bedding this morning and some pottering. Pick up The Imp and his brother (A) from school, A will have his weekly sleepover and The Imp will go with Grandpa to meet mummy (DD) from work.

Have a good Tuesday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

baubles Tue 17-Jan-23 07:28:24

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where the light covering of snow from yesterday has frozen hard. It’s -3*.

I’m also reading that book at the moment Urms. I do like Maggie O’Farrell’s books.

Working again today but for a change I’m covering for a different shop. I used to volunteer there so I know my way around.

Wishing everyone a good Tuesday, especially those who are in poor health.

Pittcity Tue 17-Jan-23 07:29:46

Good morning from a dark and below freezing Colchester. It may get above freezing for a moment this afternoon.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day but I suspect it might be a quiet one.
My good news is that DD2 had a scan yesterday and I am now allowed to tell everyone that DGC number 4 is due in July.
Not so good is that my Mum needs treatment after worrying blood test results.
The NHS are coming up trumps for both of them.
Keep warm (except you Urms )
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, -4° outside. It is set to be bright and sunny, so I may venture out on a health walk this afternoon.

A morning of tidying up, and also phoning my travel company again. Getting fed up with the non-appearance of my refund.

Think yoga was a step too far yesterday; I suffered for the rest of the day. However, I enjoyed my walk to Knit and Natter afterwards and enjoyed a coffee in friendly company while we knitted.

Take care if venturing out in the frost, and have a nice Tuesday.

karmalady Tue 17-Jan-23 07:43:07

good morning, s somerset will not be higher than 3 today so I am staying indoors as ice on pavements and roads will not disappear. Avon and somerset had dozens of accidents overnight.

The stove plan worked perfectly, I lit it at around 4pm and it stayed on all evening, slowly fading out all night. I shall clean it late morning and do the same today. I used smokeless eggs yesterday and it was a much smoother, more gentle, heat. It did not send me to sleep in my chair

DDs, sw and wales have nasty lane conditions to contend with for a few days, one has floods all around and the other has intermittent floods, mostly field run-off. Both will have very icy conditions as they go off to front line work. Nothing I can do so I must not worry or dwell on it

The upside is that I get a chance today to wear a very warm hand-spun and knit cabled jumper that is normally too warm to wear

Jaxjacky Tue 17-Jan-23 07:52:06

Good morning Mick and all from heavy frost in S Hampshire, -4. I have one client left to sort from yesterdays calls and stats to complete. After that a little housework and sort out my seed box, I’ve had a few delivered and just shoved them in their box.
Stay safe and have a pleasant day if you can 🦩🦩.

Susan56 Tue 17-Jan-23 07:52:25

Good morning from Shropshire where it is very chilly🥶

I have woken up with a sore left eye with very blurred vision.I have an opticians appointment booked for tomorrow luckily.

I have another appointment this afternoon so will need DH to act as chauffeur as I won’t be able to drive.Maybe I’ll walk into town🤔will see how icy it is.

Congratulations to you all Pittcity👶🏼and best wishes for successful treatment for your mum.

Glad your scan went OK Mick.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 17-Jan-23 07:57:12

Good morning all from chilly -3 in Harrogate. I am hoping to get some shopping done this morning if it’s not too icy.
Oh for 18 degrees here Urms that would be just lovely!
Good luck with the results of your scan Mick glad it went smoothly.
I have DGd coming after school so DD can go to the shops.
Have the best day possible folks

brook2704 Tue 17-Jan-23 07:58:36

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve quite a lot of snow and it’s about -2º. It’s forecast to be cold all day so I think it’ll stay for a while
A big congratulations to your DD and your family pittcity exciting news ahead with a new baby to look forward to!
A quiet morning today and then I’m popping into town this afternoon. We’re helping with the after school activities by picking DGC up from her dance class and then dropping her off at choir. She has a very busy Tuesday but enjoys it all.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Chrissielou Tue 17-Jan-23 08:00:10

A very cold dry -6° start in West Oxfordshire this morning. Hoping for another sunny day, it was a joy to walk the dog after work yesterday, a beautiful sky at sunset too.
Another working at home day, the heated throw is very welcome.
Hoping you all have a peaceful day.

kittylester Tue 17-Jan-23 08:10:23

Good morning all from a very frosty and foggy North Leicestershire. The temperature is -2°.

Choir this morning. It is only in the village but I still can't walk there and sing. So I will drive.

We have had a worrying few days with my elder brother. He has had complete memory loss for the last 3 or 4 days. My sil was eventually persuaded to take him to A&E and he has an appointment at the TIA clinic this morning. My sister in law is hopeless so my other brother is going with them.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 17-Jan-23 08:13:19

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a frosty Hull. I’m hoping the roads are ok after reading about your icy roads up and down the country.

I need to go and get my uncle’s shopping this morning and go and pick up mum and go to Bridlington to visit him. I haven’t seen him since just before Christmas so I’m sure he’ll be full of news.

Huge congratulations to you all Pittcity. A new baby to look forward too.

Have a good day today if you can my thoughts to those poorly and worried🌻🌻

Ashcombe Tue 17-Jan-23 08:14:46

A late good morning from a cold Torbay after we slept late following a busy day and being late to bed.

I enjoyed returning to my exercise class yesterday but found I needed to sit for some of the routines, which was fine. The welcome I received was heartwarming (pardon the pun!)

In the evening we formed part of the Front of House team with DH as Manager, whilst I was a steward for the first time in many months. It was a charity night for a group who fundraise for sending folk to Lourdes. They had sold lots of tickets (they keep the takings) but the organisers arrived late and were rather disorganised. The performance was delayed because we couldn’t get them into the auditorium. Repeated announcements about the imminence of curtain up were ignored, especially by those in the bar. In the end I went in the bar and (in my best teacher on the playground voice!) told them the play was due to start. We had the same problem after the interval. It was chaos at the end, too, because of the disorganised way they ran the raffle. Sigh!

I hope everyone stays warm and safe in this treacherous weather. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

SunshineSally Tue 17-Jan-23 08:16:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from south Hants where the weather is as cold as JaxJacky says. Thermals on today!

I slept badly yesterday, too many things going round in my head … so today is a plodding day, with maybe sorting out some more of that room! We’ll also take DDog out.

I’ll get dressed, grab a coffee and then settle down to read your posts.

Have the best day you can. Take care of yourselves 🦩🦩and a hug 🤗 and 🌻 for you all x

Gala Tue 17-Jan-23 08:16:59

Good morning from a misty & murky Sefton. There's also been a fair sprinkling of white stuff. It's cold. I have a Zoom strength exercise class first thing then I will hibernate. I have had a very disturbed night. DH has "volunteered" to walk a no doubt reluctant greyhound & then visit the fish man.
Take care out there today.

Beechnut Tue 17-Jan-23 08:20:20

Good Morning everyone from a brrr cold and frosty Severnside. Wise to stay at home Mick.

I’m not going swimming this morning as I forgot to cover the car windscreen and I’ve pulled something in my side. There are other things I can get on with indoors. I made some parsnip and apple soup yesterday.

I’m going to try to imagine I’m in your sunshine Urm as I can see a little bit of blue sky up there.

Good wishes to all 🪷
