Using the Verb Get or variations of Get

Good morning all. Very late to the feast today - after a third bad night in a row I slept late. My body is on a go-slow (if not on all-out strike. Methinks an Oodie Day is coming on.
Anyway, it's a gey driech day on the Angus coast with not a speck of sunshine or break of blue to be seen.
Had a lovely couple of hours over lunch with Dancing GD and her friend yesterday. Brook, in answer to your question she thinks they're going to Inverness to take part in "some festival or something", so it may well be at the Eden Court Theatre. I knew Eden Court when it was young (😉) and we lived at RAF Kinloss for eight years. We went to a pantomime there when DD was three and she very memorably, in a brief moment of silence after a prolonged bout of shouting between the Giant and the audience, informed the Giant at the top of her little voice that Jack and his friends were "hiding under the table!". To which the Giant replied "Well at least somebody in the audience tells the truth!". That was 46 years ago, and I can still see the whole scene in my mind's eye!
I haven't read any of the thread yet, so I shall toddle off now and make myself presentable for the day before indulging in a prolonged Thread Read.
I hope everyone enjoys just a little bit of sunshine in their day x
Kalu and Grammaretto the tongue twister as I remember it is Around the rugged rock the ragged rascal ran
Maybe the Leith Police were after him
Good morning everyone from cold grey Lancashire, currently 2°C. The early morning fog has lifted but the light is very flat. No plans for today, bacon rolls for brunch as always on a Sunday followed by an afternoon catching up with R4.
Kalu
It may have been Rock for all I know. I'm an incomer remember, but my DMiL was born and bred Edinburgh and keeps me right about most things
A wee history on here if anyone is interested:

A late Good morning from Stockport.
I didn’t wake until 9:30, which actually isn’t extra late for me as I am a very bad sleeper.
I have been out two evenings on the run after not going out of the house for two weeks so I was tired.
When I left my friend’s house it was so icy, their pavements hadn’t been cleared, that the taxi driver had to come up her drive to help me get to the car.
That is when you feel very old.
Hope all the poorly ones have a better day and the rest of you gave the best day you can.
Oh, I forgot, roast pork loin here also this evening.
Grammaretto, I am familiar with the Radical Road history. The version we were taught at school was an old nursery rhyme. I should have proof read - the rascal ran round the rugged, not ragged rock. Marks lost for that bloomer.
Good morning from a very frosty West York's the frost has not moved for a week now looks lovely but Slippy underfoot . Grandmadinasaur my 5yrs old gs went to see the monster trucks last week he loved it his dad said it was very noisy and some children were crying because of it. Have a lovely Sunday .
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The snow has vanished overnight so it must be milder.
Kalu I was taught Round and Round the Radical Road the Ragged Rascal Ran
Napoleon's prisoners made the Radical road, the footpath around Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.
I love your story grandmadinasaur of FiL and the building of the cathedral!
grandMattie I suggest you join the help house move thread on here in case you haven't already. It's a fount of wisdom & good advice.
Not a lot on today's agenda. I may call on DMiL in her new abode.
The film tonight is David Bowie. Moonage Daydream. Will I go?
Marydoll you sound so much more upbeat since starting the new treatment. I hope the side effects are not too bad
Happy Chinese New Year everyone.
Good morning from Glasgow where it is 6deg and drizzly.
We had a lovely time with GD2. Lots of giggles at her French accent attempts. I wrote down what our French mistress had us repeat to learn how to roll the letter R:
Round and round the ragged rock the ragged rascal ran…more giggling but she was determined to master it whilst applying her ‘make-up’ preparing to go home ! Not so much work as a toddler, she also spent some time FaceTiming her friends. I took her home around 7.30 and stayed for a coffee and chat with DD1.
An at home day today just foutering about.
Best wishes to all for a good day.
Good morning all- very late today since I had a glug of Night Nurse which clearly didn’t knock me out completely as I let Rosie out around 3 am, but went straight back to sleep and woke up at 8!
No plans today - it’s gloriously sunny but freezing so a dog walk later when I can summon up the courage (and layers) but I also have a film to watch for Wednesday (the David Lean “Great Expectations” ) and a book - Mao’s Last Dancer to finish for Tuesday
Wishing you all a pleasant day!
Just a thought Grandmattie having compiled your list of your requirements, why not email it direct to the Estate Agents? I know dealing at a distance is hard when it comes to viewing, but presumably you have already consulted Rightmove online to see what’s available? So much easier than 40 years ago when we moved from S London to N Bucks! Good luck anyway 🏡
Good morning from a bright and sunny W Kent pity about the heavy frost. A stay in day and Sunday lunch, a chat to my brother later.
Enjoy your break Mick.
Good morning from a chilly and cloudy Staffordshire, where I stayed overnight at DD’s with the girls whilst they went out.
Arrived home from Budapest yesterday. It is colder here than over there! Lovely city and great food. Lots of history and old buildings. Too big to see everything in a few days though.
Will drive home later, via Mums.
Wishing you all a lovely Sunday
Good morning from another icy crisp day in East London. I woke for a loo stop last night and took ages to get warm again in bed . FaceTime yesterday evening with DD and family was chaotic as the GC were showing me their indoor gymnastics! Today I’m going to the Toby carvery with a friend for lunch . We have a very precise booking @12.55 ! I hope DS appears today to finish his DIY project of refurbishing some folding doors . He is using the small bedroom which is also in the throes of being renovated. It was my late DH study/craft room and I need to get on with that .
Good morning everyone from Inverness where the snow has more or less gone now and it’s much milder at about 6º and no sign of any frost. Now that the weather has improved a bit really need to get out in the fresh air either for a walk somewhere or at least a potter in the garden.
Hope you feel better soon georgesgran, wrap up warm if you do go out
Hoping all is ok with the cat Ekwa a slight overfilling is easily done but fingers crossed not caused any damage
If you’re meeting up with family and friends today enjoy the get togethers. Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a freezing South Yorkshire. Minus two outside, struggling to get to ten inside and the heating has been on for an hour! Nothing much on my agenda today. I slept very well last night. It’s DD’s birthday and we are going out for a late lunch at a local pub as GS hopes he will be playing football today. I think he’s being optimistic - their pitch will be frozen solid.
Have the best day you can folks and keep warm!
For those interested, my house is worth around twice the price of a flat in Bristol!
Good Morning. Haven’t posted for about a week . I’ve been busy but somewhat under par so took a rest from somethings.
Yesterday we took DGS , who is just under 2 to a small farm . He loved it and it was suprisingly warm in the sun. It must have worn him out as he had a two hour nap . That refreshed us all for playing in the afternoon.
Today we are off to DGS2 s for a birthday tea, he will be 7 tomorrow.
Sending good wishes to all especially those with problems or feeing poorly.
Good morning from Durham. I think I could cut and paste that it’s cold and frosty here, as it has been all week.
Thankfully, my cold appears to be one of those shorter affairs, although friends have warned their’s were the same, until they reappeared and dragged on for weeks – Jobe’s comforters?
I still don’t feel well enough to babysit DGS2, so DD2 has made alternative arrangements, but DD1 has suggested a short walk with her and DGS2 to get some fresh air, as I haven’t been out of the house since Wednesday. I’ll see how I feel later.
Hope 🐈⬛ is found. One of ours went missing for a week and came home smelling of horses.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle where it is about IC. No frost covered cars this morning though snow is still lying about on the gardens, steadily diminishing.
I had a morning of petty annoyances yesterday, too petty to mention but they culminated in a bigger one. I'd made the last of my stops at the garden centre and wasn't far down the road to home when a warning came up on the car dashboard- a system fault. I was, naturally, alarmed! I crept into the next village's car park and checked my manual. Could have been anything but seemingly ok to carry on for the time being. So I drove warily home and made an appointment with my garage for a diagnostic check next Tuesday. Over lunch it occurred to me that it probably wasn't a coincidence that I'd refuelled the car earlier...and slightly overfilled it. Mr Google told me that that was a Bad Thing! I won't go into technical details but I'm hoping expensive repairs won't be necessary.
Today, I'm not moved to go out though probably a walk would be good. We'll see.
Do have an enjoyable day, all.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Everything's white with frost again.
Slept in late as DH was coughing most of the night, so I was in DS's room (he was spending the weekend with his GF)
Need to walk to Aldi to get something for a Sunday roast. DH won't be happy with anything else on a Sunday.
Otherwise just staying warm.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning. Clear sky here in West Sussex by the sea. We are heading to church where we lived before moving here. It’s only about 40 minutes drive away, but inland. I hope it’s not foggy. We will have soup, bread and cheese with friends after.
Yesterday DD1, SiL and his dad came over and we went to the cinema to see Empire of Light which we all enjoyed. They came back for roast chicken, slow-cooked ham and accompaniments. Timings were tricky but thankfully the chicken, left in a low oven, was cooked perfectly.
The dinners sound good Whitewavemark and LadyLeftFieldLover, especially the puddings - I do love a pudding 🙂
How lovely to have the twins with you Abitbarmy. I have loads of recipe cuttings too. I have been culling them and occasionally trying out as I tend to get stuck in a rut with cooking.
Thinking of all with troubles 🕯
Kung Hai Fat Choy to any celebrating Chinese New Year 🙂
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very frosty and yet another beautiful sunrise.
Yesterday went really well. We took flowers to the churchyard then had lunch in the village pub. We were the only ones there but sat near the roaring fire. DD1 and co went home after.
Back to the pub today for the singles lunch. DD2 is coming so there will be 9 of us.
I’ll leave you with the sunrise through the kitchen window taken half an hour ago and wish you all a good day.
Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, clear, frosty corner of Somerset.
A decent day yesterday, Mr C had his wish granted for a garden centre trip which included breakfast. He had a quiet afternoon while I caught up with emails.
Today I must tackle the storage room that should be a guest bedroom. There’s a bed in there somewhere. Roast pork and apple pie late afternoon.
That sounds a sensible plan grandmattie, good luck with the search. We were at Heythrop last year mick. Take comfy shoes, it is very big.
Look after yourselves everyone. Hope Sunday is gentle with us all.
Good morning all. Here in South Lanarkshire the temperature has risen to 5* and the frost has disappeared.
We had such a busy day at the charity shop yesterday, a total of seventy seven bags of donations were handed in. Thank goodness I had a bunch of great volunteers to help.
Today will be a quiet one. I’ll meet DH for brunch after I’ve been to Mass then will probably spend the afternoon pottering and doing a little crocheting.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
