No Matt = Monday.

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga. I’ve had two mugs of tea and am just contemplating a third. I’ve been reading the newspapers on line. Washing cycle is almost complete (a quick freshen up of clothes) and looking out I’ll need to use extra pegs as it’s windy woo at present.

No idea what to do with our day. Might go down to the paseo later for a last walk along by the Mediterranean before we fly home on Wednesday. No chance tomorrow as it’s ‘ladies’ which is sacrosanct. Mandatory attendance unless you provide a sick note. 🤣

I like how your house is prepped ready for your in-house nursery provision Grandmabatty. Enjoy your mini break Mick it’s come at a good time for your well being I think. You do right getting up and about Ekwa those anxious thoughts in the wee small hours are a bugger. I loved your description of the cygnets ‘coming in to land’!

Enjoy Monday all - whether you have plans or none. x

Good morning from the NE where it is 1 degree and dry.
SIL got stuck in football traffic yesterday and it took him an hour to get here, usually it only takes twenty minutes. I didn't realise there was a Derby match between Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
The bulb had gone in one of my ovens so he changed that for me, fiddly job but done now.
The duck parmentier was delicious, the last time we had it I ordered it from Michel Roux but yesterday I made it myself and we both agreed it was superior in taste. Must write down the recipe so that I can recreate the dish for GD1 as she loves duck dishes.
Elder sister sent a message to say she is visiting this afternoon after she has had a new carpet fitted in her flat. This is her sixth and final week in the UK, she will be off home to Germany at the weekend. I wish I had half her stamina.
Have a good day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Enjoy your trip today Mick. A beautiful sunrise in South Yorkshire this morning, and not quite so cold. We had a lovely meal out for DD’s. birthday yesterday and she was very pleased with her birthday cake so my effort wasn’t wasted! Son in law put Apple TV on my set last night and he seems to have scrambled all my terrestrial channels. I don’t know what he’s done to it! DH where are you when I need you!! He was the tv expert. General housework and associated goings on for me today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning all from a frosty West Oxfordshire. We are going to see friends about one and a half hours away later on. We have known them for nearly 50 years! We have only seen them once since covid began so we are looking forward to it. The first half hour of any meeting is spent discussing our various ailments, before moving onto more interesting topics. Have a good day.

Good morning all - oh when is it going to start getting warmer!

The ‘old’ neighbour of Dd texted her to say the cat was in their conservatory.! Yay! They had lured him in, so dd picked him up and hes now warm and cosy in the new house. Thank goodness!

Dd has her penultimate immunotherapy infusion today. I hope all the messages got through to the hospital, to say she has moved.🙏, as the nurse comes to the house to administer it. (Don’t have any faith, I’m afraid). Thank goodness she’s been well enough to cope with her move.

Today we have a tip time booked at 9.30 with lots of DD’s ‘stuff’, - DH’s ribs are still sore, so I’ll do all the lifting. The staff at the tip aren’t very helpful.😤. .

Hoping you all have a good enough day. Love and kind wishes to all who are poorly or sad or stressed or worried. 🙏

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. No frost today.

Have a lovely break away Mick.

I managed to have a restful nap yesterday afternoon after GDs sleepover. Today I need to tidy the playroom after some excellent imaginative play with her. I will do my zoom yoga and pick up GS from school.

NannyJan that’s a stunning photo. So pleased you have had a lovely time.

Wishing everyone a lovely Monday. Hoping those suffering illness and stress have some respite today 🌻🌻

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 23-Jan-23 08:09:20

Good morning from Oxfordshire where it’s -6 but clear skies today, hopefully it will warm up (a lot) by the time the dog wants to go out for her walk.
A free day as I did the housework yesterday so just ironing, oven and fridge cleans to do. I might get out a new jigsaw that I had for Christmas or read a book, decisions!
Have a good time Mick
Have a good day everyone, stay warm and safe from slips and slides.

EkwaNimitee Mon 23-Jan-23 08:06:21

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark but not freezing Carlisle where it is currently dry.
Have a good trip Mick. I must get out and about more myself but don't feel very moved at this time of year.
Yesterday I did give myself a telling off re lack of exercise and went for a walk in the country park. It was cold! There were a lot of birds out on the big pond. I thought it odd to see them apparently standing on the water then realised there was a thin layer of ice over it. 3 of the cygnets now have their all white outfits on and were flying round and round getting ready for their permanent departure I guess. One of them came in to land. Whether it knew of the ice or not I don't know but it's deceptively covered by a thin layer of water so instead of dropping into water, he/she slid along for several yards!
Today I shall move gently through the usual housework and laundry. I've been awake since 5 having been disturbed by a headache and swimmy head, one of my usual chronic but generally mild infections. Always better getting up and getting on with stuff rather than lying in bed in the dark and wondering if it's the onset of something terminal!

Wishing you all a positive day.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

I hope you have a good trip, Mick.

I plan to have a very easy day again. Most of yesterday was spent in bed, with awful nausea and dizziness, a side effect of my meds, but I must persevere.
It was late afternoon, before it eased off.

DD and SIL paid a visit and I held an audience from my bed, while DD searched my wardrobe, to find funeral wear for Friday.
Her work attire, is smart casual, so she had nothing suitable in her wardrobe.
We have a family joke, that she never leaves here empty handed.

Lying in bed, I remembered the piece of beef defrosting, but couldn't face all the prep to roast it and I knew DH wouldn't have a clue.
Suddenly, I had the bright idea of putting it in the Ninja all in one on the steam/airfry setting.
It took only twenty minutes and DH said it was delicious!

Wishing you all a pleasant day and good luck with the estate agent, GM.

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Not much to report today, I must get a wiggle on and get ready for work.

We had a rather disturbed night due to the daft dug wandering the house. We crate trained her as a pup and she always sleeps there, during the day the door is open whether we’re in or out but it’s closed at night and she sleeps soundly.

After some discussions we decided that she might like a bed without the crate as it takes up quite a bit of space under the stairs so yesterday we took her to the pet shop to choose a bed, which she did. grin

However last night was a disaster. She padded around restlessly, came up stairs, jumped on our bed, was evicted and eventually, after several failed attempts to get her into the new bed, went to sleep at the top of the stairs. Aaaargh!

I think I’ll give it another shot tonight but the crate may have to be reinstalled.

Wishing everyone the best possible day.

karmalady Mon 23-Jan-23 07:52:45

good morning and a red sky in very cold s somerset

Have a very good break at warners Mick

I did several different things yesterday, how I like it. I included a utility room cupboard and a kitchen cupboard as well as knitting and watching two dvds, the queens castle and northern exposure.

Stove lighting uplifted the house temperature. I have already removed the ash, cooling in its holder. I shall finish cleaning it later, when it has thoroughly cooled. I see that national grid are on alert later so I will save some national energy by using my stove again.

Soup maker will be unearthed later and I want to make veg soup

Bad luck re sinuses. Have you tried Sudafed nasal spray? It’s available over the counter and I find it helps. Also Kyolic Garlic from a health food shop is worth trying on a routine basis.

Wyllow3 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:44:35

Morning all from outside Durham: it's been a nice but tiring stay with family, lots of cuddles: but a dense fog outside and not looking forward at all to the Motorway drive south so hope the fog lifts or is less down in the valleys.

Travel safe all, have a good break Mick and may cat endeavours go well Ashcombe, hope the valuation is good Grandmattie

Bests for childcare and meet ups with friends and family all and take care poorlies.

Good morning from a dull, frosty Colchester. Once again below freezing but no sunshine as of late.
Will try to persuade DH to contact the GP about his cough. We have a walk in surgery every morning and it's 5 minutes walk from home.
Otherwise it's shopping and laundry for me.
Love to all 🦩 x

brook2704 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:41:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a much milder at about 8º and cloudy. We’ve not got the very cold frost and clear skies that I think are further south.
Enjoy your trip away mick it sounds lovely
Hope there’s some good news about the ceiling whitewave fingers crossed for you
I’m off to the gym for a Zumba class this morning and then a dip in the pool. Also a quick trip to Tesco to fit in sometime too.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from North Yorkshire where it’s a balmy 1 degree. Allegedly. Didn’t sleep very well due to blocked nose due to ongoing sinus issues and post nasal drip. Into the seventh week now it’s ridiculous. I should ask for antibiotics but I keep thinking I shouldn’t bother the surgery and all that it will involve. Daytimes are fine mostly. Anyway yesterday made some headway with sorting all the accumulated electronic devices that are no longer required so plan to go to York next week with them to a place that gives a few quid for them. So many photos and videos on old phone, mostly of DGd. Already far fewer of the twins on new phone, a good thing I suppose but it’s always the first baby to arrive that has all the memorabilia it seems. Housework, bed change etc today. Have the best day you can folks.

dragonfly46 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:37:48

Good morning from chilly Leicestershire.

Today will be spent recovering from our very hectic weekend in Brighton. I did enjoy my own bed last night.

I also need to chase up a prescription, ring the Dutch tax office and change a dental appointment as we are going down south again in a couple of weeks to dog mind and see DD’s new house.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Susan56 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:35:19

Good morning from West Wales.

We drove down yesterday to celebrate MIL’s 92nd birthday.A very scenic journey, lots of snow on the hills. It’s really warm in the hotel🥵We haven’t planned what we will do today yet but it will involve a drive and lunch out.We will get to MIL’s mid afternoon.

I didn’t get to read yesterdays thread until late evening.I loved the photos of the cathedral Grandmadinosaur.I was born and brought up in Liverpool and have happy memories of concerts in both cathedrals either singing in the school choir or playing in the orchestra.I remember our school choir being one of several school choirs in a musical called Let my People Go performed in the Metropolitan Cathedral with BBC news reader Richard Baker as the narrator.Good memories.

Enjoy your break Mick.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

GrannyGravy13 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:34:36

Morning all

Safe travels and enjoy your trip Mick

Gym this morning and a visit to the dentist this afternoon (routine check-up)

I have to do some finger shopping sometime today for the numerous family birthdays coming up in the next few weeks, always a problem so soon after Christmas.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Whitewavemark2 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:18:33

Good morning from the South Downs. -3c at the moment, forecast to rise to 4c, but dry and sparkling. So looking forward to going out without a ton of clothes on.

Hoping to hear something about the ceiling today.

Meeting up with work colleagues today in Haywards Heath for lunch. Hear all the gossip, as one still works.

Must switch on the Teasmade and wait for my tea. The dog is still snoring, he will stir as soon as it gets light.

Enjoy your day one and all, keep healthy and hearty.

NannyJan53 Mon 23-Jan-23 07:09:15

Good morning from a very cold Black Country.

Back to normal now after our very lovely relaxing few days away in Budapest. Last day we had a few hours in the Thermal Baths. Photo is the view over the river from Pest to Buda.

Monday walking group this morning. Then this afternoon admin. Have to pay Car tax, the tax man, and sort out car insurance. Had renewal notice and they want £49 more than last year! So its time to shop around, as that increase is ridiculous, I have not claimed the past few years, and do less than 5000 miles a year.

Wishing you all a warm Monday

cornergran Mon 23-Jan-23 07:04:57

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, frosty corner of Somerset.

Found the guest bed yesterday, it’s too easy to dump things there. Managed some admin and enjoyed writing emails. Mr C was engrossed building a model. We’re running out of space to put them. Must redirect him to a jigsaw.

Coffee with a friend this morning, I’m looking forward to that, we’ve not met for months as she’s been unwell. The ironing will call me this afternoon. Early night is planned as we’re up extra early tomorrow to travel to meet my cousin in the depths of the Cotswolds. It’s mid way between us, a long drive but worth it.

Enjoy Heythrop Mick, we’ll not be far from there tomorrow. Hope all goes well with the agent grandmattie. Good to know you’re getting back to your volunteering kitty.

Take care everyone. Stay warm. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

kittylester Mon 23-Jan-23 06:51:28

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. I'm sure there was talk of a rise in temperature but it hasn't happened here yet.

Today I am helping on a zoom Carer's course and Dh is off to the gym. This afternoon, we have a potential new cleaner coming to check us out.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

SunshineSally Mon 23-Jan-23 06:39:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very chilly and dark south Hants.
Mick I hope you have a lovely time away. Ashcombe Aw a new puss - how lovely 🥰. Which reminds me … our puss is due his flea tablet - now where did I put the oven gloves (self protection!). Thankfully DDog eagerly takes his - wrapped or even unwrapped in a piece of cheese!😂
granddMattie I hope all goes well with the estate agent today 💐

We’ve a new bed being delivered and constructed in one of the spare bedrooms - which we’d spent yesterday clearing out. At long last I’ll have somewhere to go to when DH and the cats’ snoring gets too much 👏👏. I’ll just need to remember to be super quiet so as not to wait DDog as I pass the sitting room!
A visit to Dunelm for some sheets will be in order today too.
Have a good day - thinking of those that are unwell or with worries 🦩🦩
A hug 🤗 and 🌻 for you all x

Grandmabatty Mon 23-Jan-23 06:33:44

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry, I think. It's still too dark to tell what the weather will be. Mick a nice trip for you. Grandmattie your plans are proceeding well. Ash good luck with getting the cat to the vet!
Yesterday was a nice day. I met up with my friend who, as expected, vented quite a bit about the state of the management at school. We put the world to rights. The rest of the day was spent pottering.
Today is the usual childcare day. The living room is turned into a playroom, the highchair is already in the kitchen and breakfast is prepared. Chocolate chip rolls for dgs1 and Weetabix for dgs2. Melon slices for both. Have a good day all.
