Long thermal socks

I found a solution! I have been wearing M&S thermal tights - bought last year - and they ride up and the gap between them and my socks is where I get cold. Today I put on some I haven't worn this year - I know because they are navy and my others are all black - and they are longer and don't ride up! The solution was there in my wardrobe and it's taken till now to realise it Grrrrr!!

I wear footless thermal tights from M&S and they are very good.

Footless tights creep up my legs, get all bunchy, stick at my lined jeans. How do you get around my slight problems, if I may ask?

I do, sometimes, wear tights under socks, but I'd like there to be a better way to stop the bunchys. I must be doing something wrong.

I wear footless M&S tucked into woollen socks and like Forsythia there’s no bunching at all, very comfortable all day.
They are very lightweight thermals but very warm.

I find M&S socks grip my legs and leave an uncomfortable mark - and I have quite skinny legs.

I’ve only used the ones from M&S and I find they don’t creep or bunch. I bought them because I struggle with getting ordinary tights on. I bought footless and wear with the matching thermal socks and with boots on you’d never know. Hope that helps.

M&S lovely lightweight thermal thighs which I wear every day under my jeans and they keep me lovely and warm. They also do lightweight tops which I wear under my jumpers and they don’t feel bulky. Bought them last year but still selling them. I’ve stocked up.

Nordic socks, knee high, wool.

British Heart Foundation shops do a good line in thermals - socks, tights and leggings available here.

Another suggestion for hand knitted socks or leggings DanniRae - if you don't have a proper sock pattern I wonder if you could adapt a sleeve? With lots of rib for stretch-ability. I made my first leg-warmers many years ago by using a sock pattern and stopping before I got to the heel and casting off. You might need some elastic to keep them up - there's nothing more irritating than what I call ' a fally-down leg'.

Not exactly the last word in elegance but under your trousers/leggings no-one's going to see. I must admit I once found myself in an unexpected healthcare situation and the nurse was a little surprised at these er, underpinnings.

Mens socks are much more generous size wise I find. I have small fat feet and always wear mens socks x

I have always bought men’s thermal socks even though my feet are not wide. They are a much better fit around the calves.

I buy men’s slippers as well. 😂

Yes, me too. Fabulously warm socks, keep my feet and lower legs toasty warm!

I find that leg warmers work well to cover the exposure between the top of my short socks and the bottom of my trousers.

Have you tried any of those outdoors/hiking shops? I'm sure they'd have warm thermal socks, though they might be a bit on the thick side unless you're wearing hiking boots.

I got the same ones as you Lexi and in black as well as grey. Lovely and warm when I was away in -20 temperatures and stayed up in place, even though I’d walked miles.

I bought some long grey socks from M&S early this winter, I saw them near the till when I was buying thermals. Not sure whether the socks are thermal, but they are jolly warm. I am wearing them now. Being grey they do look a little like school socks, but there again, it’s to keep warm not go to a fashion parade, an additional plus is that they do stay up, so I avoid the Nora Batty look when my trousers hitch up. I can’t wear thermal tights, I have never been able to find a pair that is long enough in the body, I am quite tall.

Do you have to have socks? I can highly recommend fleece-lined tights from M&S.
