That should read 5,30 PM!!
Good Morning Wednesday 22nd April 2026
Welsh Senedd Election - PR in action. This will be interesting!
Downsizing and parting with furniture
Mandelson failed security vetting. Starmer says he didn’t know
Good morning from a dark, gloomy E Kent.
I shall just post this and witter later, just in case someone else has started the thread in Mick’s absence.
That should read 5,30 PM!!
Morning all
Thank you grandMattie for opening up. I hope our dear Mick is enjoying his break away.
It’s -1° here and allegedly rising to 4° by midday, might get the t shirts out 🤣. DH has just walked the 7yr old to school all of 10metres, the little one had a bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast that should keep him going until lunchtime.
I am off to the gym this morning, then I have the last little bit of paperwork to sort. I shredded a full pink sacks worth yesterday, it was a job I have been putting off for months, sorting out my filing cupboard hopefully it will inspire DH to do the same.
Safe journey Urmstongran , sorry to hear of your sad news regarding another virtual friend
A beautiful photo of a very regal pussycat Ashcombe
(((Hugs))) to all in need
Have a good Wednesday folks 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. It looks like it's on for the day too.
Whitewave it all sounds rather too much to have to deal with. Ash a very pretty cat indeed. Beechnut aargh! I can deal with spiders but I wouldn't like one crawling on me.
Yesterday was another full on child care day. Dgs2 has discovered how to switch the table lamp on and off and was so proud of himself so did it a lot. He was so funny. It did get a bit wearing but it kept him occupied for ages. Dgs1 and I continued to paint his dinosaur once I'd picked him up from nursery. Then we made volcanoes, lizards and burgers out of playdough.
Today is a quiet day home. Hurrah! My friend is in hospital in Glasgow and it isn't easy to get to, so I will be supporting her via WhatsApp. I'll have to nip to Aldi for butter as I've run out completely and the haggis, neeps and tatties need butter in the mash. I'll say a Burn's poem to myself while preparing it. Have a good day all.
Ah yes, it’s Burn’s Night harrigran. I remembered then forgot!
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but still very mild at 6º. Yesterday it reached 13º - unheard of in January here!
Today I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes and then meeting my friend for a coffee and a chat this afternoon. That’ll take care of most of the day
Hope you’re enjoying your time away grandmadinosaur, I really like the little villages in North Wales but it’s ages since I’ve been there
A lovely photo of the new addition Ash
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
My Scottish stepfather doesn’t like haggis OR porridge (I love both) and I rib him about it. He does like whisky though! 😁
Good morning from a frosty -3 in S Hampshire. Shame DL didn’t get some manners with her new leg gMattie.
We have our Aberdonian friend coming for haggis tonight, we like it, he tolerates it!
The weighty tome of the latest Robert Galbraith book will be passed to a friend this afternoon, she’ll exchange with books she’s finished.
Best wishes to those struggling or suffering.
Have your best day🦩🦩
Good morning from Durham where again, a glorious pink sunrise has been replaced by grey sky. Visited my rental house yesterday - I need 20 lightbulbs for various fitments before the estate agent can get in to take photographs!
Coffee this morning with a friend, then I need to make some decisions, having watched Martin Lewis on TV last night.
gM when DH died, we asked for donations (raised thousands) to a local charity - after 9 months, I queried if they’d got it. I got a curt reply and nothing since - very disappointed.
Must order some wallpaper later all online now.
Hope Maryd is still resting.
Best wishes to all. X
Spiders, Beech? Having been brought up in Mauritius, spiders don’t bother me, neither do large cockroaches, flies, mosquitos, moths, etc. what does faze me, though, are stick insects and praying mantises. Ugh!
Good morning from a misty and dull Black Country, where it is not as cold as yesterday,
MrJ has a blood test at 9am, luckily the hospital is a 10 minute walk from here. Then he has to go over to Telford regarding the house is is buying to rent out, to see that the jobs he asked to be done are now completed.
No real plans for me, may ring my friend to see if she fancies meeting up for coffee. She only lives 10 minute walk away.
Lovely looking cat Ashcombe I had one quite similar when I was a child, she lived until the age of 18! We called her Marshall, no idea why !
Wishing you all a lovely day
Good morning everyone from a very grey and damp Northampton; I° out today, and no frost. Set to have rain showers this afternoon.
Had a lovely sunny walk with the group yesterday afternoon, made even better by gathering for coffee at the sports centre afterwards. Then a friend and I had an excursion to our little retail centre where she needed to buy a child's birthday present. I had a fancy for chilli today so popped into M&S Food for some mince, then got a few things in Poundland, including a pack of Cheeselets which our Sainsbury's only stocks at Christmas!
The plan is to go to the cinema this afternoon to see a recently released film called 'Corsage', about Empress Elisabeth of Austria. I need to get my skates on and get that chilli into the slow cooker first.
Happy Wednesday everyone, and stay warm.
A morning reading for Book Group tomorrow and singing this afternoon so need to get a move on.
Love Ash’s very pretty cat and am impressed as always by Marydoll’s bravery. Perhaps when signs of spring are more evident we will all feel a bit brighter - this cold spell feels like much harder work than usual which seems unreasonable given what a lovely autumn we had. I did buy my first bunch of daffodils yesterday so that felt hopeful.
GrandMattie and Beech, spiders don't bother me. Having lived in Singapore, Cyprus and Northern Australia I am not worried about many creepy crawlies, except perhaps cockroaches. But I would run a mile at the first sight of a snake!
Wishing Scottish grans a happy Burns night. I should have remembered that as it’s my nephews Birthday today. I might join you in a whisky later.
Thank you Brook the scenery on our drive yesterday was stunning. I love to see the mountains.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another mild day expected here.
Washing and housework this morning then meeting a friend for coffee before going out with others for an early supper and film.
The RHS gardens were a bit of a mixed bag. There is a huge amount of work going on, changing beds and paths. Several areas were taped off. I did stand and watch the Robin for a while.
Thoughts to all the poorlies.
Have a good day everyone.
Enjoy your Wales break Grandmadinosaur it sounds lovely. My wrist is a little tender with a top layer of skin off it. I’m such a numpty.
Marydoll it’s good to hear you sounding a little more upbeat today💐
I was Googling gluten free Haggis the other day and I noticed McSween do one. I’d love to try it but DH isn’t keen. When friends came from the Scottish Borders on my birthday they brought a fruit loaf I can’t remember the make of it but I gave it to my daughter as I couldn’t eat it and DH doesn’t enjoy fruit bread and she’s declared it’s the tastiest fruit loaf she’s ever had. X
I adore Robins Alygran little bullies though they are. x
Good morning everyone from cloudy Carlisle where it is 8C at the moment. Yesterday morning the sun actually came out for a while!
Today, a little housework, research on the computer and a catch up with reading. Plus I ought to try and sow my sweet pea seeds. I don't want to do anything energetic outside as I still have a swimmy head and don't want to aggravate matters.
Ashcombe I envy you that lovely pussy. H/she certainly knows how to pose for the camera!
Some sad news about today, my thoughts and sympathies with those affected.
Good morning, all GNs and Michael in absentia. Thankyou for doing the honours, GrandMattie. The sun is out in a blue sky in South Yorkshire - and it’s verrry cold! They finished resurfacing our road yesterday. The machinery they were using actually sent vibrations through floor in my lounge and we are about fourteen feet from the road! It was fascinating to watch though (it doesn’t take much to fascinate me these days!). I am going to try an experimental cake in my air fryer oven this afternoon. I’m prepared for a total flop!
Ash, a beautiful cat. She (I think she’s a queen too) has a look of my last cat about her but Bram wasn’t grey. I do like her colouring.
Pitt I know I’ve said this before but your DH has my total respect for fishing in this weather. He deserves his stew! Our season doesn’t start until March - and I don’t hit the bank until April, or even later!!
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from an overcast Co Armagh
Club this morning , think Art is on the agenda, the guest comes to us at least once a year , we never know what he comes up with , but it’s always fun
Shazza I have at least three Robins come to peck at some porridge oats , but it’s the blackbirds that are the bullies here though the Robins do chase each other too
Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and overcast. I thought the temperature might have risen as the patio looked shiny when I let Rosie out. When she just about did a triple Salko with double toe loop galloping in I realised that wasn’t wet, it was ice.
I’ve had enough of cold haven’t you? Yes, “crisp and cold and sunny” is lovely , but I am so tired of feeling cold all the time, or as Cari Rosen said on Twitter “I used to go backpacking for a month with fewer clothes than I am currently wearing in bed”
Opera Plus this morning, Film Studies this afternoon - (the David Lean “Great Expectations”) both on Zoom so I don’t need to worry about icy roads or pavements!
Wishing you all a safe and pleasant day and Burns Night with the Selkirk Grace
“Some hae meat and canna eat
Some hae nane that want it
But we hae meat
And we can eat
Sae let the Lord be thankit”
Good morning from Sefton where it has been raining…not a problem, as our new roof is now complete. The scaffolding remains and could, theoretically, be moved some metres along as several of our neighbours are about to start building works. As driveways fill with skips and the road with workmen’s vans, parking our cars is rather like a giant slide puzzle.
Yesterday, before Tai Chi, I called in at the supermarket to use the recycle plastics collection bin. Luckily two hours’ parking is allowed as I couldn’t get the @@@ car started again - flat battery - and felt bad about cancelling the class. While I brushed knees and repulsed monkeys DH came to the rescue, gave it a run and moved it for me. Recharging is needed but it behaved itself later and transported me to swimming. Perhaps an extended drive to Ikea would be of benefit…but there is a limit to DH’s patience.
Today our measurements for internal doors will be checked, then it’s yoga and fun time with the DGC. I’ll also catch up with your posts.
Whatever your plans, have the best Wednesday possible.
Good morning all from the Angus coast - where I'm decidedly discombobulated. It's raining! That wasn't forecast on my weather app and I have a king-size duvet slopping around in the washing machine. However, as I type the sky has brightened and there's a rosy pink glow on the hills so maybe the promised wall-to-wall sunshine will materialise after all. I'm taking my friend up country for lunch today, so I do hope so.
Grandmattie we do that at tai chi too and it does become somewhat confusing. Have you tried two rows facing each other? I love that one, but the class not so much!
I had a phone call from DGD3 yesterday asking me if I'd like to come to her netball match next Saturday. Her call woke me from my nap so I wasn't quite 'with it' when I answered - when I asked who was speaking I thought she said Santa. I'm not going to live that one down anytime soon 😁!
Nothing to report from here as you have probably realised so off I shall trot to read all your posts. Have a lovely day xx
I love the sentiments in that grace Maw. So true. We have much to be thankful for.
Good morning everyone from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Burns night tonight at music club, so will be singing “My love is like a red rose” and other appropriate songs. Making an effort with a bit of tartan. I have no Scots blood to my knowledge, but my late DH did.
Before that, a pop into town to the lunchtime recital, so quite a busy day. The house could do with some attention, but blow that, while I can gad about, I will.
Welcome Leanetta and thoughts to anyone with worries.
Will read through later tonight.
