NO, not me - but our first child. Just can't believe it, how can it be? HOW?

My baby boy is 30 shortly, my girls 33 and 34 respectively. I too was an ‘elderly prima gravida’ hence why they are so close in age! I can live with that but my granddaughter is a TEENAGER this year and that is just weird! Where does time go indeed?!

My first is also 50 this Easter incredible. She is having a much better life than I did, I am so pleased for her.

I was saying this at work, I only feel my age when I think about how old my chidlren are (41 & 37). I don't know how I had them as in my head I'm about 25, although my knees are 70

Hemgranot Sat 28-Jan-23 13:37:54

My only child is 18. Makes me forget I’m 61!

Babamaman Sat 28-Jan-23 13:43:01

One of my many great children told me a story that made me gawf out loud. She is 15 and said her boyfriend wanted to “well you know g.gran” ( I did)
“Well” she carried on telling me”I thought how proud you looked in that photo of you heading the 4th generation and he asked me then to remember what I was thinking and feeling so I told him what I was thinking. About you holding the 5th generation baby and he just got up and made a mug of coffee and has been less interested since!”

I will be 70 in May, my DD will be 50 in August , with my 2 DSs hot on her heels!
DS1 was 48 in December and DS2 will be 47 in March . They were all grown ups by the time I was 50!

Bluecat Sat 28-Jan-23 14:46:10

Our eldest will be 45 on Thursday. Unbelievable. In my head, she's in her early 20s and our youngest is about 18. In reality, the latter will be 37 in June. Where did the time go?

jenni123 Sat 28-Jan-23 14:48:12

My eldest will be 63 in June and my youngest will be 52 in July, there are 2 more in between them.

My mum's eldest is nearly 70! She just can't take it in. 😅

Bijou Sat 28-Jan-23 15:11:06

My daughter who died aged twenty would have been 75 this year. My son is 73 and my three grandchildren are over fifty"

NannyEm Sat 28-Jan-23 15:18:50

My daughter just got the results of her blood test back. She is post menopausal and will be 50 next week. I can remember the day she was born and the day her baby was born, 24 years ago.

Wait till your son is a grandfather, that really brought it home to me!

kittypaws49 Sat 28-Jan-23 15:42:03

My lovely boy would have been 40 this month. Always thought I would see him with his first grey hairs, I told him, I just want to live to see you grow old, but it was not to be.

Bijou Sat 28-Jan-23 15:49:29

My son is a grandfather of four, the eldest is twenty two. Another on the way as my fifty two year old grandson and wife are expecting.

MawtheMerrier

Our little boy would have been 50 this year.
I often find myself wondering, and imagining what he would have been like

Likewise me, Maw. My daughter would be 50 on June 11th. Not sure how I'll get through the day.

Harris27 Sat 28-Jan-23 15:55:43

Maw🌺 time just flies! I’m a nursery teacher and feel old when the kids I looked after bring there’s in now. One I used to feed jam sarnies when he played footy with my son! Eldest son 45.

win Sat 28-Jan-23 16:10:43

Like you Maw we often wonder what might have been, our youngest son would have been 53 now. Thinking of you, the huge loss is always there.

So many untimely losses on this thread 💐 to everyone who lost a child, regardless of age. 💕

My FinL was horrified this year when my husband (his youngest) drew his pension grin

Gundy Sat 28-Jan-23 16:45:58

No matter how old - kids will be kids - and you’ll always be mom, mummy, mama. Even when you’re 90, your 70 yr old child is not going to listen to you. Hehe…
Cheers!

Heartfelt sympathy to all who have lost children, and also to those whose children, though living, were never to grow into the adults they should have become.
