Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

Urmstongran Wed 01-Mar-23 20:29:14

‘Evening All’.

Thank you dear kitcheners for such uplifting and kind support here in soops. Definitely the place to enter for worried souls in need of comfort.

💐 for you dustyangel tonight. We are both travelling along a difficult pathway right now. Anxiety is all consuming and just so draining isn’t it?

At times like this I envy those amongst us who have a religious faith. It must be so comforting to pray and feel heard and be able to say ‘It’s in God’s hands’. To be able to offload and trust.

gillgran yes thank you so much, you’ve remembered well! It’s our youngest DGS birthday on Friday, he’ll be 6. We’re having a little family get together on Friday evening and then he’s going to Clip and Climb with his friends over the weekend
I hope your DGD has a lovely birthday too in a couple of weeks

gillgran Wed 01-Mar-23 19:42:30

soop, I see that it's your DGS's Birthday today, a lovely age to be, (I vaguely remember being in my 20's..!!)
That's a great photo of him & his Dad, they share a nice smile.

My goodness, these DGC grow up so fast, our eldest is 20, & the youngest will be 6 later this month., (the other 3 are almost 17, nearly 14, & 8+.).

brook, enjoy your family time in Cambridge, it must soon be your DGS's birthday, I remember him being a couple of weeks older than our youngest DGD.

dustyangel Wed 01-Mar-23 19:22:31

Thank you to everyone for your good wishes. It really does help to be able to ‘talk to you’ on here. flowers for you all.

I seem to have got it wrong . It’s Happy Anniversary to the Corners and Happy Birthday to Jax. 🍾🥂🎂🥳 for you both.
How lovely to be able to buy some snowdrops to plant Jax, something to look forward to every year.

brook2704 Wed 01-Mar-23 18:01:05

That’s a really lovely picture soop such gorgeous smiles! Wishing your DGS a very Happy Birthday
Sounds like you had a good shopping day with your DGD grannmarie, a lovely thing to do together
I’m just home after a busy day, swimming this morning with DGD and then a long catch up over coffee with a friend. Tomorrow I’ll be busy finishing packing as we’re off to DD1s in Cambridge for the weekend and then onto Spain for a couple of weeks. It’s just another one of our little adventures, not too much planned up front but will see when we get there!
Hoping Urms and Dustyangels DHs are both ok and the test results are good
gillgran and your DH, sounds like you’ve both been through it this week, take care, sending 💐
You’re such a good kind friend grandmabatty 💐

Blossoming Wed 01-Mar-23 17:53:17

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I had a lovely walk down to the river earlier, a mix of sunshine and showers with a bitter wind but I was well wrapped up. The hospital rang just after I got home, my eye appointment has been brought forward to this Friday. I’m lucky to be able to accept appointments at short notice. What a lovely pic of those handsome menfolk soop. Good news about the glaucoma grandmabatty I feel your pain about the cost of thin lenses but they are so light and comfortable. Glad the TMJ info helped Gillgran, hope the cataract surgery goes well,

Thinking of you Dusty and Urms ❤️❤️

Hullo all, I'm a daily lurker here - may I join in? (Mornings seem to whiz by, so posting later on in the day is much more do-able for me.)

Sending a virtual hand-squeeze to Urmstongran & dustyangel. Worrying of that kind is so v hard to put aside!

Just now making a pot of tea for anyone who'd like a cup, & I've made a loaf of (calorie-free) banana bread.

brook2704 Wed 01-Mar-23 17:25:09

cornergran Wed 01-Mar-23 17:10:39

Hello everyone. Many thanks for the good wishes. We had a good day wandering once we extracted ourselves from some horrific traffic, a very good lunch helped smooth ruffled feathers. A quiet evening ahead with a glass or two and much cake.

Two calls came while I was driving. Once from a hospital I am due to attend for a day procedure. The hands free wouldn’t cooperate and Mr C couldn't hear what was being said. The person promised to call back a little later. She didn’t so my first job tomorrow is to try to track whoever down. My best guess is the appointment has been changed. The other was to postpone flooring being fitted, can easily sort that. We’re not fussed as long as it gets her eventually. Life eh?

There certainly seems to be a lot of medical stuff about. My best wishes to all and my hope issues can be managed.

Enjoy your evenings everyone. Look after yourselves.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 01-Mar-23 17:01:51

Hello all. It sounds like too many of us have difficulties whilst fewer have joy. I had a mammogram this afternoon. It wasn’t too bad. I think so much depends on the Radiologist. Sometimes it really is like being squashed in a door! Not today.

It is the WI committee this evening. I hope I’m prepared. When I get home and while I’m eating my dinner (OH is doing sausages, beans and fried potatoes) I will watch on zoom a talk about the beginning of the London Underground. I am a bit of a train freak. Not the actual trains but the effect trains had on society. If I had continued with my History Masters years ago, my dissertation was going to be on that very topic.

Have a good evening everyone.

gillgran Wed 01-Mar-23 16:40:11

Happy Birthday, Jaxjacky, enjoy your day, how lovely to think of your snowdrops flowering on each of your future birthdays. cupcake wine

Congratulations to Mr&MrsCorner, on your wedding anniversary. flowers wine

Sorry to read that both Urmstongran & dustyangel are awaiting worrying health issues for their husbands. I do hope that these can be resolved.

We do worry about our families, & indeed ourselves, often the worry of waiting is worse than the knowing, (& what can be done).
Our week of medical things is 2/3rds over!
My cateract assessment was thorough, but lengthy. I'm booked in for the first one on the 8th, & the second one on the 16th. Quite a trek to the clinic, the traffic was busy but flowing yesterday, so fingers crossed it will be OK.
Both had dental checks today, ( thank you Blossoming, I have the exercises/ soft diet you mentioned for my TMJ).
My DH, who has glaucoma in both eyes for which he uses eye drops, also has Epiretinal Membrane,(scarring) in one eye,(also being treated by other drops). Now the other eye has developed Macular Oedema, secondary to Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion, for that he has the first injection tomorrow. (thank you annsixty for your kind words & advice).
I'll try not to bore you with any other ailments any time soon..!! wink.!!

Warm thoughts for you all, x

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Mar-23 16:10:37

Happy birthday to you Jaxjacky. I hope you are having a good day. DustyAngel fingers crossed for your husband and for Urms dear man.

Grannmarie Wed 01-Mar-23 16:08:59

Many happy returns, Jaxjacky, enjoy the rest of your birthday!💕💐

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Mar-23 15:52:45

My thoughts are with you dusty and Urms hoping for the best of outcomes for you all.
Good news on your eyes Grandmabatty and what a kind friend you are 🌹.
A Happy Anniversary to the corners 🥂
It’s my birthday, I’ve had lovely gifts and cards, out for dinner later, MrJ bought me some snowdrops from a flower stall in Winchester ready to go into the ground for next year.
I’ll catch up later ttfn.

dustyangel Wed 01-Mar-23 15:42:05

I’ve said it before soop your family are a lovely looking lot. The photo of your son and grandson is such a happy one too.
I hope you have a positive outcome to your hospital visit.

Happy Anniversary to Cornergran and her husband if they pop into the kitchen.
Grandmabatty, DH managed to scrape our car literally the day after it had been re sprayed! I suggested that we didn’t tell the chap who did the respray immediately as it might break his heart, actually I thought it might get scraped again but DH has been extra careful ever since.

Dear Urms, we too have had possibly worrying news about DH’s health. What worries me most is that our doctor telephoned him to call in to the surgery while he was out and about, worrying in itself but it also means that I don’t know exactly what he was told and couldn’t ask any questions. Lots more tests to come and a lot more worrying waiting for both you and me.
I wish you and your DH the very best of news.

Grannmarie Wed 01-Mar-23 15:37:12

Grandmabatty, crossed posts. What a special thing to do for your dear friend, I'm sure it will have given her much comfort and peace of mind, knowing that this detail has been lovingly attended to.
For you and your friend, 💐💐

Grannmarie Wed 01-Mar-23 15:33:21

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰
Soop, what handsome menfolk there are in your family, super photo! Your collie painting is very handsome too, what a gift you have.
Neine and Dusty Angel, thank you for your kind wishes for our P.P. and his family. His Mum's funeral will take place next week in their home parish. A coach is being arranged to take our parishioners through to attend her Requiem Mass.
Neine, glad the Rite of Election went so well for your DH. I see lovely photos of our local Cathedral R. of E. on the Diocesan website, a very special occasion.
Blue Sapphire, thank you for sharing your lovely photos and memories of your DH. Thinking of you.💐
Happy Anniversary to the Corners! More celebrations! 💐
Aw, Grandmabatty, what a shame about your car! What an upset, but as long as you are OK that's the main thing.
YiaYia, I'm glad your appointment gave you options, hope all goes well now. Good luck with your house hunting.
GG13, congratulations to your eldest son, I hope your gathering went well. I've realised how difficult it is to assemble all the family at any given occasion. My eldest son has a 0 birthday in the summer, I'm hoping and praying that all the family can attend.
Jaxjacky, well done to you and your team on your Quiz win!👍
Brook, It was good that you could have your DGS and DGD on separate days, its nice to have one to one time with them.
I had DGD here yesterday, strike day, her Daddy dropped her off in her PJs and Goonie at 7.15 on his way to work...we went straight back to bed! Later we did a 'shopping spree at the mall' her phrase,🤣 basically we wandered around Claire's, Primark and Boots until she had spent the money that was burning a hole in her pocket! Her Mummy texted me in the evening, thanking me for her great day, it was my pleasure. 💕
TOYA.

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Mar-23 15:24:24

Soop two very handsome men

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Mar-23 15:23:37

Good afternoon kitcheners. Ladies, many thanks for your kind remarks regarding my stupidity with the car. You are right. It's only 'bent metal' 😂
This morning I had more eye tests to determine if I have glaucoma. I don't. Apparently my corneas are thick and that can give a false high reading of pressure. I then ordered new specs and prescription sunglasses. The cost is horrific because the lenses are made thinner. Oh well, who needs a holiday? Afterwards I visited my friend who is much weaker and more tired. The morphine is having a stronger effect too. In between times she was bright and she got me to write her death announcement for the local newspaper and do some other organising stuff. That was hard but I'm in awe of her mental strength. Anyway I have rice pudding baking and a chicken roasting so a comforting dinner tonight. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

soop Wed 01-Mar-23 14:44:13

If I haven't welcomed you before today, please make yourselves at home, Annapops and benjamina. I am rather out of touch at the mo'. This lovely lot are amazing. Their support knows no bounds.

Urms My thoughts are with you and your dear husband. I wish that the flowers were real, not virtual. Stay strong. X

Grandmabatty Metal can be fixed. Albeit, at a price. You are far, far more precious.

A pic of middle son and his son, 24 years of age today.

GrannySomerset Wed 01-Mar-23 08:36:51

Thinking of you, Urmston - nothing worse than the unknown. Hope your anxiety is unfounded.

MawtheMerrier Wed 01-Mar-23 00:18:28

Chins up Urmstongran - the waiting and the worrying are always the worst.
Whenever we got a dodgy diagnosis - and believe me, there were a few- we’d try to say “Fine, so what are you going to do about it” because we knew however weird or obscure Paws latest issue was, the doctors had seen it all before and dealt with worse.
We’ll be with you all the way - and it will be fine.

MawtheMerrier Wed 01-Mar-23 00:13:48

Grandmabatty don’t fret, Paw who never had a bump in his life (unlike me and also 2 of our daughters) used to say “It’s only bent metal”.
