Hello again! Well, as I mentioned on the morning thread I made a white chocolate cake. It looks pretty good too filled with white chocolate and lemon buttercream which I happened to have a batch of in the freezer. But… as I was whisking away I smelled burning! My electric whisk died. I had to finish off the cake with a wooden spoon which is difficult with arthritic thumbs. As soon as it was in the oven I looked at the John Lewis website and ordered another one. To be picked up from my nearest Waitrose tomorrow. OH still hasn’t been in touch with his GP about his transient global amnesia. He still isn’t the full picnic today. Have a good evening.

You must be looking forward to spending some time with your DS, great that the treatment is improving. I’ve been busy doing busy things, as my youngest dd used to say. Dh had a small op on his knee on Tuesday so he’s hors de combat for a few days. Stitches out next week. I had the ballet run with 5yo GD yesterday, then she came back to have her dinner with us before I took her home. The skies were very clear last night and she complained bitterly again about the moon following her around - ‘It’s always there, Nanna, watching me!’ 😁

Today my car had to go in for a service first thing then I had an appointment with a physio. I’ve had painful feet on and off for a long time but it has got much worse. She diagnosed a chronic form of plantar fasciitis and a problem with tendons. She admired my exceedingly high arches, though. 🤣 I’ve got a treatment plan and even when I left the clinic it felt better. £61 well spent.

I had a lovely afternoon meeting an old friend, who I don’t think I’ve seen for 20+ years. You know how it is when you pick up again exactly where you left off? That was us, except her children are now 37 and 40! How did that happen?? My car had to be collected after that, all a scutter as a big fire had broken out on a main road and roads were shut off so I had to take the scenic route. Back home for something to eat and then out again for a hair cut, at almost 8pm! A strange time but it was the only one I could get with my favourite stylist before she goes away on holiday. At least parking is free after 6pm!

I’ve also spent three days hunting down a chemist who can supply one of dh’s medications. Today was the fifth or sixth place I tried. They say they’ll have it stock tomorrow. We’ll see. 🤔

Tomorrow 16mo GS is coming to stay till Sunday. He’s had his first proper hair cut and looks like a little boy now, instead of a baby. At least the last vestige of his daddy’s attempt at a haircut has gone - as my DS said, GS has lost his Ladybird Book Of The Princes in the Tower look. 🤣🤣🤣

I forget whether I mentioned earlier, I’m going to see my ds in America soon. Looking forward to that. His latest treatment has been much smoother this time, thankfully. Many thanks for all your kind thoughts for him.

Well, I’m ready for bed now, to gird my loins for GS coming to stay tomorrow for the weekend! TOYA. Xxx

We've had a lovely taking Bertie to spend his birthday money from us and then their choice of lunch venue - Nandos today. We do it with all the dgc when they let us - usually from about the age of 7 until they don't want to hang around with ma and pa any more. Another of your 'end of an era' things urms.

‘Evening All’.

So cross with myself today it’s an awful waste feeling ‘meh’. Anyway I’m much better thank you lovely peeps.. Last night was just horrid, waking about 2am. I’m well hydrated and just about to eat a baked potato the size of my head. I crave spuds when I’m hungover. Salt, black pepper and a huge slice of Jersey butter on top will set me right. Then I’m going to watch ‘You & Me’ at 9pm on ITVX.

I hope I’ve learned my lesson.

I didn't know squiffy meant tipsy – thought it just meant a bit off colour. I found out the reality when Minibaggs asked me to write a note to her PE teacher to let her off something or other because she wasn't feeling very well after a migraine. I wrote in the note that she was "feeling a bit squiffy". Apparently this caused much amusement as well as getting her out of whatever it was, especially as she was too young to be squiffy anyway! 🤣

I swam well yesterday (by my standards!) and my muscles have been reminding me of their existence today, which is all to the good.

A hug for soop and anyone else who needs one.

Fortunately and luckily I don’t suffer from hangovers! Never have. Just remember that after a long evening, drink a pint of water and take two Panadol before you go to bed. All will be well.
My book group was fun. Just six of us as several were on grandmother duty due to half term. We looked at The Go Between which isn’t my favourite book.
When I got home I made a batch of clotted cream ice cream, which is one of my favourites. It is OH’s turn to cook so I think we’re having pie, mash, peas and gravy. I’m off out tonight to a Lent Group in a nearby village. Have a good evening.

Good afternoon kitcheners. A day of ups and downs for me. Optician has said my prescription has changed quite a bit and I've to go back for more tests re glaucoma next week. He's not happy with the pressure in my eyes. Then I had a hearing test which confirmed my hearing is poor, particularly in my right ear so an appointment to see an audiologist. I'm falling apart!! It's all a bit of a scunner really. Did some art work at class and they have potential apparently, although I'm not convinced. I'm definitely gloom and doom today! I'm out for dinner with friends shortly, but I won't be 'doing an Urms' as I'm driving. Sorry to hear about the glass mishap Corner. I can always find broken glass easily. When I stand on it. I hope you all have a pleasant evening.

A successful day thus far, Fin was decidedly better this morning when I went to sit, antibiotics must be working on his strep throat. He should be back to school tomorrow, don’t children bounce back quickly.
After taking MrJ to work (his car battery was totally dead), ordering then collecting a new one and him just fitting it, his transport is restored, a few ££ lighter.
He’s off to bowls tonight so I can a) eat fish, he doesn’t like it and b) watch something indulgent.

I do recall a squiffy evening 8 years ago Urms MrJ had to tie up my trainer laces at a wine festival in France as I couldn’t safely lean forwards!

I’m happy. The puzzle is finished, we have a dining table again. Mr C is my favourite person. .

Your marbles may well be with mine grannyg, I can’t repeat all the daft things I’ve done today, too many to count. Here’s one. We had an incident with a flying glass in the conservatory, which shattered when it happened (!) to fall out of a cupboard when my favourite person opened it. Three lots of sweeping and one lot of hoovering later should have cleared it. Will someone tell me why it didn’t occur to me that the piece of fluff I spotted was likely to be glass? A plaster later and calm was restored. I could go on. It’s been a definitely daft day with escaped marbles .

How are you today urms? All good? I find the living room door moves sometimes, when it does I wobble. One of life’s mysteries why that should be .

I have just turned up at my hairdressers house (she is now working from home) correct time, correct day, unfortunately the wrong month. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, as I am going out four times between now and 3/3 two occasions are very dressy 🤣🤣🤣😢😢😢

Fortunately I have just managed to get an appointment at a salon down the road with her friend who used to do my hair 15 years ago.

Urms... I've sorted your squiffy problem.... I've given up wine for Lent so you were very kindly taking one for the team as they say🤣🤣🤣. I've given up bread and potatoes and chocolate too ( they will probably last the course...the wine not so certain lol). I've decided to try and do a kindness as well as giving up stuff. Yesterday I helped ac young couple newly arrived from India who had no really easy way to get to the local hospital. My plan backfired a bit later in the afternoon when I was in the queue at the checkout in Waitrose and the last in front discovered she had lost her wallet and only had her emergency £10 note with her....I gave her the balance of her bill and wished her well and hoped she would find her wallet. As I was about to finish paying for my few few bits an assistant came up with a beautiful bunch of tulips and hyacinths and handed them to me. Apparently the checkout assistant had contacted her through her headset and told her what I'd done. She thanked me and said it just shows there are still kind people in the world. I thanked her and left quickly before I actually cried. I blame it on hormones ( I wonder how long I can get away that!!!!)
