Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

Urmstongran Fri 10-Feb-23 19:14:48

Meant to say I hope you’ve had a better day annsixty.
Big hugs.

Urmstongran Fri 10-Feb-23 19:12:43

‘Evening All’.

All good here. I had a routine NHS dental appointment today with 2 routine x-rays ... £23 and ‘see you in 6 months’.
Happy Days!
😊

I’ve just been on the phone to our Yorkshire Lass. She rang me on her motorway commute home. It was lovely to chat. She gets married next month. She sounds very happy - they’ve been together over 10y and just think it’s a sensible ‘thing to do’ now they have a mortgage together. No fuss. No family from either side. (It’s not a wedding mum!). When she first announced it I said ‘we will be in Spain!’ - obviously we would have changed the flights - but she made me laugh when she said ‘no need, you’re not invited, no-one is.’ They want to just sign a piece of paper and it’s a done deal. My girl doesn’t even want to change her name. She likes hers! She said ‘it’s who I am’.
❤️ them both & so long as they’re happy, I’m happy. 😁

Hope the antiB’s kick in soon soop. Poor you.
And how proud you must all be of your stepson brook. It must be heartbreaking to see the devastation. We are so very lucky aren’t we?

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Feb-23 19:11:27

Hi all, difficult decisions Yia take your time.
I too hope annsixty has had a calmer day.
How moving neine, respect to your OH, may your good fortune continue.
MrJ has three more appointments next week, not done yet, we’ve just been to our local for a catch up and we got the village gossip!
Chicken in a smoked garlic sauce is heating up, with some veg.
Lastly, your stepson is admirable brook, it takes special people to do that job.
Enjoy your evening all.

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Feb-23 17:27:32

Brook hats off to your stepson. A very difficult but heroic job. I have a lovely vegetarian dinner tonight - and all homemade. Vegetable quiche, coleslaw and sweet potato fries. It's all prepped and I'll cook the fries in the air fryer later.

kittylester Fri 10-Feb-23 17:09:08

I echo what Gg13 said.

Well done to your DH neine, that is brilliant news.

Not a lot to report here. We had one of the cats groomed today (the other 2 don't have such thick coats) The poor cat was so traumatised that she weed and pooed. Luckily, we had put a towel down first - now I know why it costs an arm and a leg to get her groomed!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Feb-23 16:51:17

Sorry to hear you have another UTI soop hope the antibiotics work their magic.

Annsixty hope your GD is feeling better today, she may apologise for being snappy 🌸🌸🌸

brook2704 Fri 10-Feb-23 16:45:19

Hope you get your ideal car soop…… could you maybe just change your existing car to one that suits you both? We used to have a car each but now we just share one, we decided to get one on the smaller side so it suits me and DH doesn’t mind (Well I don’t think he minds 😉)

brook2704 Fri 10-Feb-23 16:36:53

Hope you’re better soon Soop one thing after another isn’t it!
I’m just in from a busy morning at the gym and a catch up with my pal. It’s not rained here grandmabatty but it’s still very windy and feels cold.
My stepson works for the fire service and is has been out in Turkey all week helping with rescue operations. No idea when he’ll be home, it’s really awful out there and I feel so sad for the people and for the work he’s having to do now. They’re specially trained, experts in their field and doing everything they can to help but it’s nowhere near enough. So sad
On a lighter note I’m impressed with your OH naughty and joining you in your faith. You must be so proud of him
A big decision Yia and needs lots of thought … I don’t envy you

Yiayia4 Fri 10-Feb-23 16:17:33

Oh dear Soop not a good, week get well soon.
We have been to our local Italian restaurant for lunch nice food and wine. Now for a chill out evening no cooking.😀We are spending lots of time looking at property on line that might suit us.DS2 would love us to move near him in Derbyshire. That would be a big step and we would really miss our grandsons but great value for money,a difficult decision.
Have a good evening everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Feb-23 15:57:44

Soop buggerations indeed. Get those antibiotics down you and lots of fluids.

soop Fri 10-Feb-23 15:47:35

Congratulations to our Kitcheners with good news to celebrate. To our dear friends who are still feeling below par for whatever reason...this too shall pass.

I have been trying to catch up with odd jobs that I've pretended didn't need attention during Mr Soop's poorliness. He took the car into Campbeltown for MOT this morning. Car passed with flying colours. I have mentioned my wish for a wee runabout car...at some time, when we can afford the additional expense. He said, "I shall give it some thought..." which is what I had predicted. Hey ho!

I have a UTI. Mr Soop dropped off a wee-pot into the surgery as he drove by earlier today. A phone call came within the hour. He picked up anti bios on his way home. Buggerations!!!

Our friends are visiting us in half an hour. They will discuss the funeral arrangements for later this week. Our pal's Mum died recently. We were to visit their home after her death but Mr Soop's virus prevented us from doing so.

Tonight is raise a glass of cheer night. This I shall do with you lovely lot in mind. It is also our granddaughter's 33rd birthday.

smile moon

Urmstongran Fri 10-Feb-23 15:23:12

No soop yet today? Unusual.
I hope all is well in her household....

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Feb-23 15:21:43

Annsixty I really hope that your dgd is better today and less grumpy. You don't deserve it. Urms I can't abide liver. I used to like it until the worst bout of food poisoning ever came about from liver. Brook I'm feeling a bit more like myself thanks.
I have been to Aldi this morning, then the chiropodist. Sadly I have developed peripheral neuropathy in my feet and I have reduced sensation in one foot more than the other. I've b diabetic for over fifteen years so it's not surprising but disappointing. I have made a vegetable quiche this afternoon so I'll have that with salad for dinner. The weather here is horrible. Windy and wet, so no gardening for me. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 10-Feb-23 15:19:02

Good news Naughtyn! Soop - I hope Mr Soop is improving by the day. Line up the hot toddies. My OH, LordLLover is waiting for his GP to call to talk about some odd blood tests! In the meantime he’s reading about bees. I should be upstairs starting to move things ready for the decorators on Monday. I might leave it until Saturday. I thought I’d do a bit of knitting. Annoyingly my right thumb is very painful with arthritis at the moment but I will persevere. Milo is sat next to me waiting for the first length of stray wool to go near him. Have a good evening.

Naughtyneine Fri 10-Feb-23 15:10:32

It was a truly blessed day yesterday...after finding out the good news about his job (he starts Monday) we both attend his weekly class for people finding out more about becoming a Catholic and he heard that he will be received into the church on Easter Saturday. I can't take any credit for his choosing to join me in my faith. He has come to Mass with me since we've been together and in the past year we've lived here the charismatic priest has made a deep impression on him. All I've done is maybe show him what my faith means to me and the comfort and joy I get from it.
I hope all poorly husbands are now much better and you lovely nurses are off duty.
Annsixty...I was cross to read about your GD and being in pain is no excuse for being unpleasant to the person caring for you. I know we all do take it out on those we love at times but it should be followed by realisation at what we've done and a sincere apology. I hope today she feels better and less stroppy.
Soop...I meant to say...we could the same with the wallpaper as we did with the Christmas Pudding....and I'm trying to find out about an Aygo cost wise for you too.
I love liver..OH not so...my Mum used to dip it in flour then fry it in butter... In salivating at the thought.

Once again you lovely ladies have shared this time my highlights...and you were the first people I turned to ...to tell my good news....I cherish your friendship. X

gillgran Thu 09-Feb-23 21:38:01

It's a relief that MrSoop is feeling better, take care, both of you.
Well done to your OH, Naughtyneine.
annsixty flowers, hope your granddaughter makes a good recovery.

Warm wishes to all in this friendly kitchen.

brook2704 Thu 09-Feb-23 20:55:59

A very well done to your OH neine! Hope you’re both celebrating 🥂

Hoping you’re feeling a bit better soon grandmabatty but rest if you need to, you’re a very busy lady! Take care

💐for you annsixty

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 20:45:42

Oh annsixty that’s sad. I hope your girl has a better day tomorrow and reins in her snappiness towards you. Just tell her to get a grip and drop the ‘mean girl’ attitude as you don’t like it, especially when you’ve done so much for her and love her.

As my old mum used to say “it’s not big and it’s not clever lady”! Used to pull me up short when I was a teen.

annsixty Thu 09-Feb-23 20:41:14

Good evening everyone.
Firstly thanks for good wishes, my GD is home, in lots of discomfort and really testing my patience.
I tell myself she is in pain and I am the nearest person to take it out on but…..
I hope for a better day tomorrow.
Well done to your dear partner Naughtyneine what a lovely result for him and you.
All others feeling “meh” Ihope it soon passes.
I am in bed now absolutely shattered, little sleep these last few nights and two long journeys to take and collect my GD.
I hope peace is restored tomorrow or I may well runaway, if I could run that is.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 20:39:10

It was indeed cornergran! Himself was delighted I’d made it. When he came in tonight he said from the hallway “this smells bluddy gorgeous!”.

It was so cheap too.
Must be because liver isn’t very popular - it doesn’t command a great price. I worked out we’d both eaten tonight for just under a fiver.
😊

cornergran Thu 09-Feb-23 20:05:11

Excellent news neine

Was it my post about the liver urms? I had serious reservations, not an offal fan and years since I cooked any but goodness, it was delicious with bacon and onion gravy. Mr C enjoyed his with mashed potatoes, carrots and peas. I left the potatoes out of mine, rarely eat them. You’re right, a purse friendly meal.

Decent day today, some admin finished, the flooring quote is actually less than we anticipated so no need to go for a lie down. It’s a local family run company recommended by another GN poster, I must PM and thank her.

Good news that mr soop is on the mend. Kitty is right, soop, make him think it was all his idea. Tried and tested ploy around here. The flooring has fallen firmly into that camp. grin

Have a good evening everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 19:50:02

‘Evening All’.

We’ve just eaten and although I say so myself, it was highly delicious! Lamb’s liver with bacon & onions in the oven with mash. Ages since I made it. Someone on the ‘GM’ thread mentioned it and then I really fancied it. The pack of liver from Sainsbury’s was only £2. £2!! Unbelievable value.

Great news for your husband Naughtneine! I assume you are both celebrating tonight.
🍾🥂

Jaxjacky Thu 09-Feb-23 19:32:30

Well done to him neine 🥂🎉.
Grannmarie you are a true friend ❤️.
If that’s you feeling a bit inactive Grandmabatty all hope is lost for me!
I’m pleased Mrsoop is feeling better, MrJ has gone to bowls tonight and last antibiotic taken earlier, nurse visit tomorrow and Monday, 🤞that’s it. I think it shook him as he’s never ill, comes to us all, you think you’re indestructible.
Enjoy your evening all x

Nannytopsy Thu 09-Feb-23 17:30:28

Great news Neine! Give him congratulations from the kitchen.
I am struggling this week - what day is it? What have I forgotten to do? Where did I put it? Etc etc - you will understand I am sure.
DH is going to see an osteopath tomorrow- after several years of compression dressings on both legs he is now in stockings but still shuffles. He also has sciatica. It would be wonderful if he got some help and turned into his former self! I don’t think an osteopath can restore his hair and waistline though! 🤣
Glad that MrS is on the mend. It was your nursing that did it soop!

Yiayia4 Thu 09-Feb-23 17:19:26

Great news Naughtynine😃
Hope your DGD is recovering well Anne.*
Grandmarie You and your sisters are very kind to look after your friend so well.💐
Been shopping today,we have the all Dgs at the weekend they will eat us out of house and home.🤣
Veg curry for dinner.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
