Hope the antibiotics do the trick Mr Soop.
Good Morning Wednesday 22nd April 2026
Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.
Hope the antibiotics do the trick Mr Soop.
I’m sorry to see such sadness in the kitchen🌺🌺🌺
I made a batch of my favourite rum and ginger muffins this morning. Help yourselves! OH and I went to a charity shop to see a bookcase he had spotted yesterday. It wasn’t quite right but we bought a shredder! Our old one only shredded a couple of sheets of paper at a time and would then die. It is his turn to cook dinner so while he is the kitchen, I might catch up with the second Grayson Perry programme. Have a good evening.

Thank you for not only letting me offload but to send your love and good wishes in abundance too. How blessed are we to have this space to share what sometimes we share with no one else. DOH hates to see me sad about the girls and the 10 Grandchildren. He says it's his fault. But the truth of it is...my ex had left 6 years before I met him...and the girls were often saying..Oh Mum you need to meet someone but when I did it was a very different matter. So I tell him that no way is it his fault and the happiness and love he has given me has changed my life completely.
Urms ...I am normally very much a glass half full sort of girl....but this has seen me crash at times and it takes a bit to ' get back' .
I was saddened to hear that others in our kitchen have suffered in the same way. Life really is a roller coaster isn't it.
Wishing Mr Soop a very very speedy recovery... Knowing that he has an excellent nurse attending to him .. I'm sure he'll be in fine fettle soon.
Have a happy Friday evening everyone...and Thank you again. X
I’m just home from a busy day out and about, the gym this morning and then a trip to the garden centre this afternoon. All good, the coffee and cherry scone at the garden centre was the best bit. But it was definitely a circuits class at the gym Jax although a circus class would have been more fun! The aqua aerobics class on a Friday is aqua zumba, I’ve no idea who thought you could combine the classes and do zumba in the water- it’s hilarious!
I hope your DD is feeling much better soon dusty and she can take some time off work to look after herself.
Thanks for sharing the video Maw, no wonder you had a lump in your throat listening to young children singing that, I would too. Well done to Flynn for getting his lines spot on!
As it’s Friday a rather nice bottle of red will be opened soon, lots to share if you fancy a glass 🍷
Please give Mr. Soop my best wishes for a speedy recovery dear Soop.
Oh soop I hope your dear MrSoop has got his medicine now and is feeling much better very soon
Wishing MrSoop a speedy recovery.
Oh dear! Much love to MrSoop!
Soop all my best to MrSoop.
Oh, poor Mr Soop, and Soop too, with such a worry!
Is it strep throat? I hope the penicillin does its job asap. Xx
Oh gosh, I hope Mr Soop gets better soon.🌹
Sorry to hear that MrSoop is poorly, I hope with the Penicillin & your TLC, soop, he soon feels much improved.
Warm wishes to all in this cosy kitchen.
Sending healing thoughts to anyone with health worries this morning but especially our MrSoop.
I will try to get back later for a proper catch up.
Oh dear soop he does sound rough, I hope the antibiotics sort him out speedily 💐.
Good morning dear peoples. I am playing nurse to a very poorly Mr Soop. High temperature, shaking, uncoordinated movements, very sore throat. Called 111 for advice because his Lymphoma means that he is immune suppressed. Advised by GP who has made out a prescription for Penicillin. To be collected any time now by the friend we were hoping to visit yesterday afternoon. At the last moment, Mr Soop admitted that he would be unable to drive. He is not the best of patients. I have to be firm with him. At the moment, he's sleeping in his favourite reclining chair, cocooned in a warm blanket.
Maw that sounds like a lovely day even if you are zorsted now.
Urms, I do so agree with you. I said to DH today that we are really very lucky, money can be tight but we were still able to afford to go out to lunch today with the excuse that we are testing 10 euro lunches for when the family want recommendations for local restaurants. Tried the bar just down the road, packed at lunchtime for the lunchtime special with working tradesmen but liable to close unexpectedly in the evening so not very reliable for visitors.
NaughtyNeine, my heart goes out to you. My son estranged himself for a few years at one point but thank God came back into our lives before he died.
I’ve been exchanging texts with DD1 on and off all afternoon. I’ve been worried about her after hearing her coughing when chatting to dear SiL the last few days. (He is now safely home again). DD never admits to being ill and never takes time off work. Today when I was talking to her DH called out, “Tell her to take the day off!” DD admitted that she’d been off work all week, “that’s how I knew I was ill.” She has been prescribed antibiotics and has “crackles” in one lung, so I hope the antibiotics do the trick. Also told to stay off work until Monday at least. You still worry about them don’t you?
soop you are so kind. I’m sorry about your friend’s Mother and I’m sure your visit will bring her comfort.
I have been down to London to watch Flynn’s “sembulay” (say it out loud!) on the subject of Inspirational People.
He only had one line to say - which of course he performed impeccably but was very proud. As were we all!
Bit of a 😢 moment listening to them (6 year-olds) ending by singing “Proud”

Before that I had popped up to inspect D3’s new house which is just round the corner from the school and barely 10 minutes walk from D2 . I wasn’t expecting much as it had been let for a few years and stood empty since the autumn but it’s lovely, basically a bigger version of their old house with a bigger footprint and with so much potential to restore it and the original features. So much space!
I can’t believe all my children now have bigger kitchens than their mum! 🤬🤬🤬
I am zorsted though - people walk so much faster in London don’t they? I think I need to look at my level of fitness ( or rather the absence of)
Early night now, quick walk round the block for Rosie and bed.
I can’t go though without sending a hug 🤗 🤗 🤗 to the many of you who need one - keep strong, ladies, you make ME feel so proud.
Urms The Bank of Dave is a lovely film. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I'm off to bed early as I'm tired tonight. I've just had a hot toddy so hopefully I'll sleep well. Night all
Sorry to hear of your sadness & stress naughtyneine. It does help to share our problems, be it virtually, on here, with friends in person, or with a professional counsellor.
We all wish you peace of mind, you too, grandmabatty. Know that we care.
I'm sure there are others in similar situations.
Take care, all in this kind & friendly kitchen. x
Hear, hear Urms sometimes we need to stop for a few minutes and appreciate.
Well said Urms
We watched Bank of Dave last week, hope you enjoy it!
A small post script from me.
We have just eaten a delicious chicken dinner (I know, self praise is no recommendation), shared a bottle of red wine in a warm room with no worries about our heating bills (okay, is only a small apartment but still) and I’m about to watch a film ‘Bank of Dave’ on Netflix.
It highlighted to me whilst I was eating, how very fortunate we are. I do very much count our blessings. Some folk - on here and elsewhere - are not so blessed.
You can’t buy peace of mind and I very much appreciate that we both have it here tonight, in spades. I do not take this good fortune for granted and wish to extend my sympathies to all who are struggling - either mentally or physically.
naughtyneine so sorry to hear of the sad situation with your daughters and DGC and your weepy day today. My heart goes out to you, sending gentle hugs and hope that sometime in the future things might improve. You too with your DS grandmabatty
That’s a difficult decision Yia I hope you can find something you both like. I think that the problem with the stairs sadly isn’t going to get any easier for you both. We’ve got a bungalow so luckily stairs aren’t a problem but we’re always thinking about downsizing but I don’t want to give up my garden. It makes me so happy so we’re here staying put for a few more years yet.
Hope your DH is feeling much better soon Jax he’s certainly been having a bad time recently
Disappointing that your appt has been postponed grannmarie I hope you’re feeling well and when you do eventually have all the tests everything is ok
My robot vacuum cleaner nicknamed Polly (don’t ask!) has decided to have a sulk and refuses to pick up all the bits. I gave her a good clean out and put it all back together but still no luck. Then DH informs me he might have lost a piece last time he emptied it - didn’t think to tell me of course! So I’ve been trawling the internet trying to find the right missing part, I think I’ve found it at last on Amazon. Will see when it arrives 😀
There’s a real talent there grandmabatty well done you!
