It is meant to be emotional because most of the objects are not of significant material value but emotional value to their owners.
If it’s not it won’t get featured, but they do overdo it quite often

Yes my item was a doll with a porcelain face sent by my grandma from behind the iron curtain. She had been a refugee after losing her home and all belongings at the end of the war.
The dolls was amd still is beautifully dressed but her face was badly smashed when it arrived despite being carefully boxed. I actually remember opening it and being so sad. It was the only gift I had from her, we never could meet and she died soon after. I could say more about the story but Was disappointed to have heard nothing from the programme.
Will was my favourite too, I havnt seen him lately so wondered if he had left.

All the items have an emotional and sentimental meanings for the owners, that's what makes the programme.

The people who do the repairs are so skilled and so patient. I watch the Teddy Ladies carefully as I need to restore my old Ted.

Yes, I agree about Will, I had him earmarked for a SIL but then he got married.

I like the programme too (even though they didn’t respond to my request to repair something dear to me).
When I applied they seemed to want the saddest cases and though my back story is very sad but interesting too I clearly should have over emphasised all the historical trauma. I might try again....
As an aside some of the items left in sheds or lofts in terrible state for years cannot be the loved family treasures we are told they are though no one can doubt the pleasure when the repair is complete .

Oh yes I too watch the repair shop, my dad watches it so we have something to chat about when I go over.

The boat was lovely, some people do get really emotional others seem not to.

There have been some lovely sentimental items on.

I would love! to work in that barn repairing much loved items.
