I dont know if EVERYONE has a washing machine but some still mustnt as theres 3 near my new house and they are all very busy!๐Ÿ˜… (i go largely to use the big dryers!)

I agree! You can also send music or radio programmes straight to the hearing aids as well. Really worth the money!

Solo travel. Hair straighteners. My Ninja. Driving licence. Not necessarily in that order.

*afterthought- how come on Eastenders at first (when Dot & pauline ran it) the laundry had a tiny 'office' behind counter, no bigger than a box, where the dry cleaning or service wash was stored & tea brewed. Now all of a sudden theres enough
space behind it for a room big enough to run cab office & a phone shop?Did phil buy house next dr & knock through or something & they never said?๐Ÿ˜‚

The greatest invention of the 20th century was soft toilet paper. I am old enough to have suffered the discomfort of Izal/ Bronco etc. Even in the 1970s my in-laws has this in their lavatory.

So many gadgets that make life so much easier! Automatic washer dryer, microwave, cordless dyson, Alexa etc. But top for me is the internet and my iphone/ iPad! No more queuing up to pay bills/do my banking, information and contacts at my fingertips. Ebooks and newspapers, music downloads and other content including social (from all over the world too!). Plus online diaries and files to record important info rather than bulky papers. A modern miracle for me!

All premises in Soapland are made of elastic. The Slater house in Eastenders, and the Barlow house in Corrie are classic examples of this.

Washing machine first, no contest. Also insulin, iPad and central heating, which Iโ€™ve only had since 2008.

I would have to say chemotherapy, if it wasn't for that my husband would have died 10 years ago.

In recent years my Air Fryer, Microwave and robot hoover have revolutionized my life. But the biggest change has come from medication which eliminates my Restless Leg symptoms - ensuring a good nights sleep every night -Bliss.

Sawsage2 Sat 04-Feb-23 12:59:25

As we are talking material possesions and the like:
being able to hear marvellous classical concerts from the best orchestras in Europe, operas etc.

Next: Internet banking and electronic post from all government dept. tax authorities, hospitals, citizens' advice and the like, which we have here in Denmark. It saves so much time and transport.

''There's lots of things mentioned here that I'd hate to be without but the real game changer for me has been my Fitbit! It has helped me get fitter and lose loads of weight. Hopefully it will give me a few extra years too! I'm on my second one now - one with a heart rate monitor which enables me to monitor how much active exercise I'm doing not just steps.

My cooling pillow case! It really is the best thing ever. So soft and definitely helps me to cope with my hot flushes. I couldn't be without them now.

Brigidsdaughter Sat 04-Feb-23 14:08:39
