Good Morning Everyone,
Dark as usual but dry here in brackley .
A day shall I or shall I not get the bus to Bicester for a couple of hours this morning.
I did go out yesterday , but found the cold air was making it feel worse , only hope milder conditions return , with a more seasonal feel about the days.
Take Cae,
Mick

Just about to catch up with your news, I notice that grandMattie has eye problems and that *Shazza’s granddaughter has chicken pox. My sympathies with them both.

Good morning from a cold, damp Algarve. It was raining most of yesterday and all night as well.

I had a doctors appointment yesterday at 6.30pm and had to ask DN if he would mind taking me as the car is having work done on it and won’t be back until Friday at the earliest.Fortunately he was happy to do it saying that it “won’t take long, it’s only five minutes down the road”. Of course isn’t, and the doctor was running late and then was extremely thorough with me, checking my BP about four times to see if it would come down instead of going up. I’d only gone to see him about a rash on my legs!
I had what I thought was an insect bite ten days ago that has now spread to look like measles on one and a half legs. He’s taken photographs and I’ve got to have blood tests which should have been today but will have to wait for tomorrow, although I’ve got to go back immediately if the rash spreads to my body.
I must admit that although I could see the rash before I had my eye lasered, I hadn’t realised how bad it is.

I think poor DN might have regretted his offer but at least we always offer to take him if for any reason he can’t drive. We were both tired and cold by the time we got home again. It’s surprising how tiring waiting is. I hope we get the car back in time for me to get the test done tomorrow.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast. A lot of music this week, lunchtime recital yesterday and tonight by train to meet friend for the RLPO, Rachmaninov piano concerto etc. It’s his birthday present and solves the problem of what to buy.
I have booked a meal nearby in an untested place, so we will see and I’m wearing my smart red trouser suit. I wish it would warm up, I will need layers and a warm coat over it.
Before I go, I’ll make a couple of Valentines from a painting I did. No one will guess it’s me!
Hope your eyes settle down grandMattie, you amuse me when you call 7 in the morning late😁
Thoughts to all with worries.

Good morning from Glasgow. A milder, dry, sunny morning here.

I hung out bed linen to dry in the breeze yesterday. It was quite uplifting to get that smell of outdoor drying. More of the same today whilst the weather is favourable plus, being a calm day, some paint spraying.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 09-Feb-23 10:14:58

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s another beautiful day out we are lucky at the moment with the weather. Chatting to my son in China and his office is up in the clouds today and it’s been like that for about a week. Fog, gloomy and rain.

Grandmadinosaur it’s lovely you have a good relationship with your daughter in law and she can lean on you for support.

Thinking of all those thousands of lost souls in Turkey and harrigran I hope you are getting the news you are hoping for soon🙏

My little granddaughter is suffering very badly with very itchy chickenpox and they are literally everywhere poor little mite covered in calamine lotion.
Today I need to change our bed and tackle ceiling cobwebs. We can’t see them until we put on the lights so they need to come down.

Have a lovely day everyone and thoughts to those suffering illness and stress🌻🌻

Good morning from a lovely bright Co Armagh
My Mum used to soak liver in milk , I must say I’ve never had liver since I left home , I find it 🤢

Stilllearning Thu 09-Feb-23 09:41:47

Morning from S Lanarkshire, grey and blustery. I’m going to Kirkcaldy today for an overnight visit to a co-granny friend. I intended to travel free by bus but last night I decided I really want to travel over the Forth rail bridge again so train it is.
Toffs can be careless!

I must remember to ‘inform’ one of my DDS before I leave, they get a bit antsy now if I ‘disappear’. Wheels seem to have turned full circle.

Gingster, up here we tend to have scan results sent to the referring professional rather than given immediately to the patient, are you certain your DH didn’t hear what he wanted to hear? Just a thought, and of course I hope he’s right.

Hope your back continues to improve baubles and that everyone has as good a day as possible. Eyesight problems are a real misery.🦩

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 09:34:37

Ooh cornergran you’ve got me fancying liver and onions tonight. That’ll work well as I will pop it in the oven when Himself is out with the Boy Wonder. Perfect!

Here’s the ancient recipe I use from a cookbook when I first married. Foolproof.

harrigran Thu 09-Feb-23 09:33:12

Late good morning from the NE where it is very windy again, another night where I had to wear earplugs.
Our smart shop yesterday was fine until we reached the self check out and had to have a rescan, all the time we saved around the shop was lost. Collected my prescription on the way home and then had a late lunch.
Spent afternoon sorting more paperwork, I am still shredding DH's bank statements and mobile phone bills 16 months after his death and I fear there are still boxes in the attic. In one box I found pay slips dating back to when he started work in 1961.

My sister has had no further information from Turkey since the initial earthquake, there is great concern for the father of the GC.

Thoughts are with poorly people.

EkwaNimitee Thu 09-Feb-23 09:24:18

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I have been out and back already. I had to go for a routine blood sampling (for which I have been waiting nearly 3 weeks!) at our brand new health centre. It's hardly positioned for the convenience of patients unless they can drive and even for this driver it's a tricky radial route round the city suburbs. If you're feeble, can't get on a bus or afford a taxi I don't know what you do. Even if you get on a bus, it's another ten minutes walk from the stop. They are closing the convenient city centre surgery.
As for the rest of the day, I get a Tesco delivery at lunchtime and I will probably do the ironing and may be out again in the garden in the afternoon. I was out there yesterday, planting and pruning and examining one or two bushes I may have to say the last rites over.

Hope those eyes recover swiftly grandMattie and Marydoll, it all sounds very painful.

Have a good day all.

NanKate Thu 09-Feb-23 09:20:53

Good morning Mick and All m

Cold here in South Bucks but sunshine on the way.

Off to our local NT Gardens to buy a solar lamp for our garden. I hate the dark and have told DH I want to look out of the bedroom window at night and see what is going on, if anything. DH said he hoped his very tame garden birds wouldn’t be disturbed. 😏

Hope you can get those eye drops in soon Mary.

luluaugust Thu 09-Feb-23 09:18:01

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Off to art group, unfortunately the lady I usually sit with won't be there this week as she also has eye problems, is it something in the air! I hope you all feel better soon.
Have as good a day as you can.

Grammaretto Thu 09-Feb-23 09:11:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Light but not bright.
I have a list of chores to put off again today.
Yoga later.
Sorry for those with painful eyes.
There's an old church in Edinburgh dedicated to Saint Triduana who was the patron matron? Saint of eyesight.
People are still drawn to visit and pray. I often wonder if it helps.

Enjoy your tea BlueSapphire. I spat mine out because the milk was bad. I take too long to get through a 2litres container. Oat milk for today.

SunshineSally Thu 09-Feb-23 09:10:01

Good morning all from a cloudy south Hants where it’s currently 2 degrees.
Busy day yesterday - DH took his DF to his dermatology appointment for his punch biopsy. He’ll get the results in two weeks. Had 2 of the GDs here afternoon and evening - gosh I’d forgotten how noisy it can get when you’re trying to prepare dinner! Still it was lovely to hear their excited chatter. Poor DDog was a little overwhelmed though and snuck into his crate for some respite! 😂

Quiet day today - though we may venture into Furniture Village to check out their sofas for our dining room. Our current ones were purchased there and we’ve been very pleased with them.
I need a hair trim too - but not sure if they’ll be time today. Never mind, I can get away with wearing my bobble hat a while longer! 😂
Have the best day you can. Thinking of those that are poorly, have appointments or are low in spirits 🦩🦩
🤗 and 🌻🌻 for you all x

BlueSapphire Thu 09-Feb-23 08:58:45

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, where it's milder with no frost. A morning of pottering is planned, followed by dance classes after lunch; then a Sainsbury's delivery is due late afternoon.

Had a nice day out in Milton Keynes yesterday,.but frustrating, as I came back empty handed! Don't think that's ever happened before. But I enjoyed a good lunch out and a glass of wine, and a good mooch around the shops.

Haven't read the thread yet so shall do that now while I savour a mug of tea.. Have a pleasant Thursday everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 08:46:26

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s another beautiful sunny start to the day. We have no plans so, as we did yesterday, we might go out for a long stroll. It’s nice to make the most of the good weather. Later, Himself will take the Boy Wonder to his football training. I hear L’il Miss has an after-school disco as they break up for half term tomorrow. She’ll be in her element with her little pals!

Greyduster Thu 09-Feb-23 08:46:11

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny but very chilly South Yorkshire. I know it’s frustrating not being able to get out because of the cold weather, but do be careful, Mick. I took myself off to do some shopping yesterday at a nearby shopping mall, went on the bus and rather enjoyed it all. My first serious solo shopping trip since late November. I didn’t buy a lot - can’t carry a lot - but enjoyed all the possibilities! I had a long chat on the phone with DS in the evening. He sounds rather poorly with a chest infection. Today, I will be doing stuff around the house, but might get out to stretch my legs later.
Corner your liver and onions sounds lovely! I’d like a bit of bacon with mine please!
Have the best day you can folks.

Ziplok Thu 09-Feb-23 08:45:33

Morning all,
it’s a beautiful, bright start to the day here, and it looks promising for the rest of the day, so fingers crossed I might get out into the garden again to do a little more tidying. Things are starting to show signs of life, spring is certainly on the way.
Well, I’d better go and clean my teeth now I’ve finished breakfast.
Hope you all have a decent day.

monk08 Thu 09-Feb-23 08:37:23

Good morning all from the Black country no frost this morning looks quite pleasant out with the sun shining.
Shopping today and perhaps have a wander around the arboretum.
Well will get myself a cuppa 🍵 and come back to read everyone's happenings 30 posts already.
Enjoy your day, virtual hugs where needed and may you all find some ☀️.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 09-Feb-23 08:33:22

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. No frost. We are out for lunch today at one of our favourite places. This evening I will pop over to a friend’s. We both have bits of admin today. The decorators are back on Monday so need to check all is well. I need to get on with WI AGM admin. I have drafted my annual report so need to work on that. The curtains for the room which is being decorated haven’t appeared yet! I may chase them up. I had a lovely chat with elder son’s partner yesterday. I am going up to Kew for a couple of days next week. It is half term. I expect to stock up on my favourite honey marmalade in the Kew Gardens shop! Have a good day and I hope MD and GM’s eyes improve.

Forsythia Thu 09-Feb-23 08:23:09

Morning from the south coast where we have grey skies and a frosty start, as yesterday.
An indoors day for me as I’m aching from my keep fit class yesterday. Hope it’s doing me some good.
The ironing board is up so that’s my morning all set.
A happy day to all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Feb-23 08:20:21

Morning all

It was frosty when I opened the curtains. Not sure what I shall do today. The fridge could do with sorting and a clean (how do fridges get crumbs in them?)

I feel happy now I have finally cleared out my wardrobe, just need to look in the spare rooms to see what/where my clothes have migrated to🤣🤣🤣

Marydoll and grandMattie I hope your eyes improve as the day progress.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

cornergran Thu 09-Feb-23 08:19:46

Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset. It’s milder though.

Dust removed we decided we deserved a sea front walk yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We both needed some quiet time so I deliberately left my phone at home. Just family have Mr C’s phone number. Checking in the evening I discovered three stressed messages from our goddaughter all seeking instant support. Oh dear. I’ll tackle those today.

Other than that we’ve a man coming about a floor this morning and it’s an admin day for me. Mr C will have a jigsaw session, he’s weary. Liver and onions for our meal. Not had it for years, Mr C suddenly fancied some. What could possibly go wrong??

Have as good a day as you can everyone. Take care.

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Feb-23 08:18:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° but feels much colder, wind chill and all that. Still windy. Lots of bird activities this morning so must be nest building and a squirrel scampering up next door's tree onto their roof. Wyllow I feel like an indoor day too. Marydoll and Grandmattie fingers crossed that your eyes are better soon. Grandmadinosaur it's good that your dil can talk to you.
Yesterday I visited my friend who had got out of hospital. She wasn't in good spirits and was riddled with anxiety. I could only be there for her. I had delivered flowers to the Chapel of Remembrance on her behalf and she was happy about that. The rest of my day was quiet.
Today I should have art class but I'm feeling under the weather. Not ill, just not myself. I'll decide later if I will go or not. Have a good day all.

Alygran Thu 09-Feb-23 08:17:39

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another clear blue sky. The sun is just up over the horizon.
Charity coffee morning today with a speaker from a local sensory play centre.
After that a bit of shopping and perhaps a quiet afternoon with my book. It feels like it’s been a busy week.
Sending best wishes to those who are poorly and some sunshine for everyone. Have a good day.
