Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve overslept so a quick visit. We will finish clearing out younger son’s old room ready for the decorators tomorrow. Then I’ll make old fashioned beef stew and dumplings for dinner. Raspberry crumble and lashings of cream for pudding. Have a good day.

Good morning from a grey and dull Essex by the sea.
DH has gone to rugby and I have a casserole to prepare for dinner late.
Have a great day everyone xx

No Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and mild but not sunny. We’ve not needed the heating on since Thursday.

My stepfather is joining us for lunch today, yay! He’s up to being ‘out and about’ now he’s been discharged from Wythenshawe hospital. We plan to have a drink first in the bar below. He hasn’t had any alcohol since NYD when he had a whisky. As he sId yesterday ‘not like a Scot’s man but I’m not going to Grouse about it’! (His usual daily tipple - he has one every day around 4pm). I’m just happy to see him back to his old positivity with renewed zest for life.
💙

Good morning everyone from a very grey dry Northampton. Have no plans to go out today, just a quiet day in catching up with the papers and tv, and of course watching the rugby. Roast chicken for dinner tonight.

Had a lovely day out yesterday, meeting DD at a shopping centre the other side of the county; we enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch out with wine, and I came home laden! DD is very good at drawing my attention to clothes that might otherwise pass me by......

May Sunday be gentle with us all.

Taichinan Sun 12-Feb-23 08:44:42

Good morning all. Mmmm, that bacon sarnie made my mouth water too Mick. It's a grey start here on the Angus coast, but the cloud is gradually breaking up to give us a day of sunny periods. Washing in the machine in anticipation. A nothing day of pottering around here - I enjoy that. I shall hear all about the rugby at Murrayfield (what a great Scottish win that was!) as DD, New Man and the girls were there. And that's it really. Good look with your colonoscopy Wyllow and enjoy your 'son time' - a one-to-one with a 'child' is always so special.
Have a good day everyone, and take care x

Welcome Ramola and a very happy 50th to your DD🎉

Marydoll Sun 12-Feb-23 08:38:50

Wyllow, all the best for today.

Welcome Romola.

My DD, born three weeks early, was also born blue with the cord round her neck.
I had been in hospital for months with a difficult pregnancy, but one day, insisted something was wrong.
My consultant listened to me, I was induced and she was born that day and in baby care for weeks, she was so poorly.
She is still difficult!!!!! 😉

ShazzaKanazza Sun 12-Feb-23 08:36:09

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull another dry day forecast. There’s barely a breath of wind.

Kalu I love the valentine wreath.

Grandmabatty 💐

Whyllow best wishes for your colonoscopy today.

Ash and anyone on the move safe journey today.

Yesterday both my kids had to go to the walk in minor injuries clinic. My DD has been struggling with pain in her left ear and woke up in excruciating pain yesterday so rang 111 and they sent her to the hospital but it’s viral so she has to ride it out with painkillers.
DS tripped in a leisure centre when he took grandson swimming he gashed his hand and luckily hadn’t broken his toe it’s badly bruised. He had his foot dressed and has to keep it up as much as he can for a few days which is difficult with running around after grandson. But he’s going to his mums overnight so he can rest it when he’s gone. He has a desk job so that’s ok. DD has just messaged to ask if she can come over with the little ladies to break the day up.
We are out at our local Italian with friends tonight so no cooking.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone with delicious Sunday lunches and family gatherings. 🌻🌻

Grammaretto Sun 12-Feb-23 08:35:24

I am glad it went smoothly Marydoll. A lovely family celebration.

GrannySomerset Sun 12-Feb-23 08:34:40

Have woken with a painful and slightly swollen foot for which I have absolutely no explanation. Will try painkillers and hope to be able to limp to church but hate these random aches and pains, often arthritic, which seem to assail me.

Otherwise no plans apart from making some biscuits for tomorrow’s book group and hoping the really poorly have a better day

ginny Sun 12-Feb-23 08:32:12

Good morning, dull and still here in N.Bucks.
I shall be spending the day with crafting/ scrapbooking friends .
Late afternoon I’ll join the rest of the family for dinner. This is a late celebration for DH and an early one for MIL.
Wishing all a good day.

Marydoll Sun 12-Feb-23 08:30:47

Good morning all, 7°C, just down the road from Kalu.

Yesterday, turned out to be such a happy, family occasion. I have had stereophonic snoring all night, from DH and SIL.
I hasten to add, they were in different bedrooms! 😂
DD decided they would just stay overnight, despite living just fifteen minutes away.

I was banned from the kitchen, but was forced to interfere, when DD couldn't understand the workings of my ovens! She only lived her recently for six months.
Dollie insisted I lunch with her in the conservatory, just the two of us, where she proceeded to tell me just about every question on Friday's maths test,
I realised that, when she told me the Heidie had delivered it, that it was a National Standardised Test and told her it was meant to be difficult in parts. Apparently she had developed a sore tummy during it. The wee soul gets quite anxious about things.
I just sat and did very little, not an easy task for me. I have standards!

By the time the two DSs and DIL's went home, I was struggling, so decided to have a lie down in the conservatory, while the rest of them watched the rugby.
It got dark, but I didn't put the light on, because it was quite restful.
I looked up to see DH staring through the glass doors, then SIL appeared, then DD. All three had a strange look on their face.
They had thought I was dead, because I wasn't moving!! 😱

A very gentle day ahead and putting my house back in order. Dollie, emptied her toy box, which I was planning to cull. (No chance now). Then DS2 came out with: All this will be great for the new baby!
Clearing up is an enathma to her, just like DD!

I haven't read any posts, DD has been sitting on the edge of my bed, chatting away, which is lovely. She is so busy working, we don't often get a chance to talk.

I wish you all the best of Sundays.

Grammaretto Sun 12-Feb-23 08:30:41

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders.
I took the in-laws for a drive to the seaside in East Lothian yesterday which we all loved. It was bracing!
Her house is going on the market soon . The EA says it needs more kerb appeal Can bulbs be planted at this late stage? BlueBalou?

Wishing you well Wyllow. Enjoy your treats after.
Safe travels Ash

Enjoy Sunday everyone.

baubles Sun 12-Feb-23 08:30:35

Good morning all from cool and dry South Lanarkshire.

Safe travels Ash.

Enjoy your treats after the colonoscopy Wyllow.

Lovely wreath Kalu.

I’ll meet DH after Mass this morning. It’s our Sunday ‘date’ for brunch then I need to go to our nearest shopping centre to collect an order. I’ve been reading about the M&S Valentine’s Dine in Deal so I may pop in to see if there’s any left.

A relaxing evening beckons before my last week at work covering annual leave. I’m taking a couple of weeks off after that.

My best wishes to everyone for an untroubled day.

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Feb-23 08:30:17

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° with low cloud so it looks gloomy. Ash safe journey home. Susan thank you. Romola welcome. Your story reminded me that my DD had the cord round her neck too. Happy birthday to your dad. Wyllow I hope all goes well later. Karmalady gooseberries are wonderful. I make jam with them and look out every year for the season. Last year I bought a gooseberry plant so there might be fruit on it this year. Fingers crossed. Kalu I love your wreath. I'm a big fan of wreaths.
Yesterday I met up with a friend for breakfast. I haven't seen her for a while as she's been unwell so we had a lot of catching up to do. After breakfast, I asked if she wanted to come to my house as she hadn't been for so long. Well, I couldn't get rid of her! I know that sounds bad but she just wouldn't go. Finally early afternoon she headed off then I felt bad for thinking I wanted my own space. I think the pandemic brought out the hermit in me. I shall fight against it.
Today I will have to go back to Aldi as I forgot a butternut squash. I'm making soup for the boys for tomorrow. Dinner tonight will be roast chicken. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Sun 12-Feb-23 08:26:33

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks bright and dry, hopefully the very cold wind we’ve had the last few days will have dropped a bit
Safe journey Ash hope the journey goes well
Sunday tends to be my admin day and I’ve a few things to sort this morning, other than that I’m hoping to be out in the garden again as there’s always lots to do. I had a lovely video call with DS yesterday, always good to catch up on his news
Hope all goes well today Wyllow
Sorry to hear about your friends fall corner I hope you can reassure your goddaughter and help her anxiety
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Feb-23 08:26:02

That's why I'm not going out, Susan grin

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 12-Feb-23 08:24:46

Good morning all from dry Harrogate
You are obviously feeling better GrandMattie?
Safe journey Ashcombe.
I’m off to church this morning, this pm have to sort what left in the veggie box to freeze - it’s amazing value, thanks Marydoll for letting us know about it.
This evening trim DHs hair!
Have the best day possible folks

Gingster Sun 12-Feb-23 08:24:44

Good morning all and it’s so still and quiet here in Essex .

We were flummoxed about our freezer drawers which had become stuck fast,. With the glass shelf jamming them. Dh and I said ‘who do we know who can break things’ . DS1 was duly summoned. 😂.
He wiggled, shook and eventually kicked them . Out they came. A bit cracked but with a bit of tape can still be used. The glass shelf remained intact. Thank heavens for ‘brute force’. 🤣.

Little gd , Dd and I had an afternoon of painting by numbers. Gd (7) said ‘this is so therapeutic, relaxing and satisfying.’
She was dead right!

I forgot to get the meat out of the freezer, so I’m going to make that mushroom and blue cheese pasta that someone mentioned on here. Sounds delish!

Dog walk first, read the papers, a bit of painting and finish my book club book. He meeting is on Friday,

Have a lovely day all. 👋

Greyduster Sun 12-Feb-23 08:19:54

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary, cool South Yorkshire. Stayed at DD’s on Friday night and we had breakfast out on Saturday morning and then some shopping, which was interesting for me because it was the first time I’ve used the self scan system in a supermarket. It was interesting, but I’m so absent minded that I would probably forget to scan some things and be had up for shoplifting! DD said “we’ll do it again; you’ll soon get used to it.” My reaction “Do we really have to?” I have a physio appointment at the hospital this afternoon to sort out some painful issues with the new hip. Hopefully they will be able to shed some light on it. Other than that, a quiet day.
Travel safe, Ash and happy landings.
Have the best day you can folks.

Romola Sun 12-Feb-23 08:17:36

Good morning from Fife, which has what I think of as "nothing weather", fairly mild, overcast, little wind.
It's my DD's 50th birthday today. I must be OLD. I have to say she's been a lovely daughter all her life. But she is a perpetual worrier including about her own DSs who are honestly fine.
Memories of her birth, relatively easy but she had the cord twice round her neck and came out blue. She needed a hard smack on the bottom from the midwife before she started yelling.

Susan56 Sun 12-Feb-23 08:13:28

Hope the colonoscopy goes well this afternoon Wyllow. From what I remember the preparation is the worst part.

Enjoy your sons company and the treats afterwards💐

cornergran Sun 12-Feb-23 08:13:05

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

We both rested yesterday morning, walked along the river to some not too far away shops yesterday afternoon, caught the bus back.

A raft of late night phone messages from our goddaughter and her husband told us our friend had been admitted to hospital after falling. Dementia means our friend could give little information about the ‘how’ of it. Expecting a call this morning with more news. I feel so sorry for them all, our goddaughter was just beginning to relax and enjoy some days out with her husband now anxiety will be overwhelming her again.

Nothing planned for today other than some laundry processing and sorting a roast, Mr C will enjoy it, I’m less keen.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Alygran Sun 12-Feb-23 08:12:27

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy today but still very mild.
Church this morning then it’s the singles lunch club at the pub at 12.30. There’s going to be 7 of us today. Roast beef for me!
Safe travels Ash.
Have a good day everyone.

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Feb-23 08:10:02

Good Morning all from an overcast S.Yorks.

I’ve a colonoscopy late afternoon so am starving already. Need must its a Quaker Zoom not real life this morning. Son is coming down to take and collect, and it’s a nice chance to catch him on his own. Treats for after in the fridge.

Glad you can see the end of the work, Whitewavemark. It was an awful time when I had a wall down, downstairs.

karmalady any spare gooseberries trebuchet them my way, they are my favourite and in a crumble food of the gods!

Good cooking and family and outings and best for poorlies.
