Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside here in brackley and hopefully mild as well.
Yesterday , I returned to phone calls from the Hospitals , but found a email worked better , it looks like I will have surgery done on the 27th of this month at the Churchill in Oxford ,yet to be confirmed in detail.
Today bus it to Bicester for usual couple of hours , to return to a expected phone from hospital with more detail.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

hollysteers Thu 16-Feb-23 11:07:30

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Made a first visit to monthly folk club last night, just around the corner. A bit sedate for me, but I sang four songs and the music was varied.
Dsister arriving this evening from the south for a few days, which will galvanise me into a ‘bit’ of housework. Roast lamb for the meal which entails clearing my dining room table of art materials ugh.
Glad you have a date for your op Mick and I’m so sorry you are finding the flat hunting a trial grandMattie, particularly after all you have been through.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Feb-23 09:50:17

Morning all

I am not a lazy bones just got distracted 🤣

Mick it’s good that you have finally got a date for your surgery, fingers crossed all goes well X

As the other two GN chatterboxes have already posted, we had a grand catch up yesterday and couldn’t understand why it had been so long.

Going to the local farm shop and then the big Sainsbury’s this morning, needs must I have been putting it off for weeks.

grandMattie when you find your forever home you will just know, the ground floor flat sounds nice especially if you have enough left over to customise it for your own needs and tastes.

Ashcombe you will miss OldDudders when he returns to France, best make the most whilst he is still here 👍

Wishing all the Grans on childcare duties this half term well and hope the energy levels are not too depleted.

MaryDoll thinking of you 🌸🌸🌸

Have a good Thursday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 16-Feb-23 09:46:37

Good Morning all from drab Harrogate
Great news Mick, not long to wait! Great news for you,, to grandMattie A garden flat in the location you want sounds perfect. Hope it's not too stressful for you, though.
Have you and Oldudders ever thought about settling in one country Ashcombe? Wouldn't it be easier?
Yesterday something very unusual happened - my DD1 was early!! I was supposed to be looking after DGD but they arrived quite a bit earlier than expected, hence I didn't managed to write my post! We took her to aa soft play centre but she wouldn't play because she was 'shy' - what a waste of money. However it was understandable.
I've just spotted the Sainsburies van so I might just go now!
Have the best day possible folks.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Feb-23 09:35:43

A belated good morning from overcast S Yorks: its rained overnight, not really enough to soak the garden.

Probably just the gym this morning. Yesterday I had a fab little walk in the sun in the Botanical Gardens and then coffee at a Woodland Centre

What an emotional day, GM, it sounds a good choice to me, you’ve had so much on its not surprising you are emotional, I hope you get some relaxing bits amid the process and may it be smooth. Glad you have a date, Mick. Definitely time to slow down, Baubles.

Aw Susan definitely a hankies out moment.

All the best your your endeavours today gransnetters.

Ziplok Thu 16-Feb-23 09:24:22

Good morning,
It’s beginning to brighten up now after a damp looking start. Not sure it will be as beautiful as yesterday morning, but we’ll see.
Pleased to see you now have a date for your op, mick. Not long to wait now. Hope they’ve got a care package sorted for you to aid your recovery post op.
GM, good luck with the flat. It sounds the best of the 6, and leaks/damp can be dealt with. Searching for a new home and moving are both very stressful, but in addition, you have had so much more to deal with this last couple of years, so I hope all goes well for you.
Exercise class for me shortly and then a supermarket shop is on the cards. What else today, I’m not sure yet.
Best wishes all.

Kalu Thu 16-Feb-23 09:22:13

We have a light drizzle now Marydoll.
Apologies for mentioning one of your favourite stores and hoping it’s not too long until you are once again picking up some bargains too.
If you are stuck, you can always have a leisurely virtual browse at what’s on offer online in the meantime. 😂
Hope you have a good day today. x

Blossoming Thu 16-Feb-23 09:22:04

Good morning everyone from Lancashire where it is raining, I have awoken with a stiff sore neck so some appropriate exercises are needed. I hope to get out for a short walk later, it’s tiring but does me so much good.

Georgesgran Thu 16-Feb-23 09:14:57

Good morning from Durham. It’s damp, but ever the optimist, I’ve hung out the towels.
Coffee this morning with a friend at a local garden centre, then a chiropody appointment this afternoon. DD2’s little dog’s here after his regular sleepover night, so I’ll take him home later.
Mick we are all ‘behind’ you (hope that doesn’t offend anyone) and look forward to a good ‘outcome’ from your op. GM I remember house hunting with BF at the height of the boom - we viewed several every day and were often preceded, then followed by the same prospective purchasers - it was bizarre.
Best wishes to all. X

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Feb-23 09:08:04

Morning all from drizzly S Hampshire.
Good news gMattie you sound frazzled, I hope it proceeds smoothly.
Good news Mick it’ll be crowded there with us all supporting you!
Taking a friend who’s had shoulder surgery out for lunch later, MrJ off to bowls tonight, he’s still on 3 x a week nurse visits.
Good to hear from Blossoming yesterday.
Have a pleasant day all 🦩🦩

Grammaretto Thu 16-Feb-23 09:01:30

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
7° here and calm and grey.
Yoga this morning, hair cut, Gaelic class and ceilidh dancing if energy levels keep up.
Packing for my train journey tomorrow.

Your op is quite soon Mick. Not long to wait and it will all be over. My DFil had a similar op and he had another 20 years of active life afterwards.

Wow! gMattie I am so impressed! First outing and a decision made. The location is paramount.

I cannot understand vandalism either Gingster . When our community garden suffered from an arson attack, I was interviewed by the local paper and prompted to say how sorry I was for these poor young people with nothing better to do. I refused to have any sympathy.

Sorry to hear your DD isn't well Harrigran

All the best to those with worries and sadness.

Ali23 Thu 16-Feb-23 08:56:07

Morning all from drizzly Leicester.
Mick, I’m pleased that you have a date for surgery. It’ll be here and over with in a jiffy, then we’ll all be with you as you recover.

Granmattie I’m sure you’ve made the right decision there. My mum moved into a ground floor flat a few years after she was widowed and it was the best thing she ever did😊 But I can well understand how overwhelming yesterday was. Soon, you will be writing about carpets, curtains, bathrooms and moving dates.

Another quiet day here yesterday. We should have been at DDs but DH had been ill so we didn’t make it. This really blew the wind out of my emotional sails but there we are. It is what it is.
I crocheted a pair of fingerless gloves for my daughter-out-law’s birthday and posted them off at tea time, and ordered her a box of herbal teas too.

2 cards to post off today (February is a busy birthday month in our family).
Then I must find another project to start… I’m using up my stash of knitting yarn 🧶 and trying to stretch my skills a bit.
Have a good day, everyone.

EkwaNimitee Thu 16-Feb-23 08:52:52

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey damp Carlisle.

It was dark and damp yesterday morning but improved in the afternoon so I went out and planted some of my purchases from the garden centre. There seems to be no end to planting things as a few items haven't liked a week of non stop sub zero temperatures and have given up the ghost. Including my lovely pittosporum, one of my first purchases, which had been growing vigorously.
Today I'm doing the ironing and a bit of admin then after lunch I have a U3A meeting to go to. I only recently joined and this will be my first. I thought it time to start a social life up here so I hope it goes well.
Good that you finally have an op date Mick and I hope you get some post-op care.

Good luck grandMattie, it's a stressful business, this buying and selling.

Time to get to grips with that ironing, have a good day all.

luluaugust Thu 16-Feb-23 08:48:14

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Off to art group this morning, I have had various texts saying everyone is running late, we are a lazy lot!
gM I hope you can get somewhere with the flat purchase, location, location etc. If the bathroom is really made make them an offer with that in mind. Marydoll glad you managed a run out yesterday. Good you have a date now Mick.
Best wishes to all

Gingster Thu 16-Feb-23 08:42:19

Good morning all and I’m later today.

Sar, Grannygravy and I had a lovely lunch yesterday - it was really good to see them after a year. We chatted merrily and promised it wouldn’t be so long next time.

Bowls group this morning but Dh will stay home to try to get a double glazer to come and replace a toilet window. Some ‘kind’ soul has thrown a stone (with great force) , and made a hole in the outside glass. Why would anyone do that 😤.

Good luck with the flat sale GM . You can do this! 🙏

I’m glad you have your op sorted Mick. 🤞.

Take care all. 🌷

harrigran Thu 16-Feb-23 08:25:42

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
SIL took me shopping and we came back laden. We had a three course dinner because Sainsbury's still had their meal deal on offer.
Did some online shopping and found a website offering Jo Malone perfume cheaper than their own shops and offering a further 10% off. SIL was buying for DD'S birthday so I took the opportunity to replace my Pomegranate noir.
DD arrived 11pm in Newcastle, she had worked a half day in the office, worked a couple of hours at home and then took the Eurostar from Brussels. She really needs a break as she has been unwell for two years, none of the treatments are working.
Today is going to be a quiet day for me.
Good you have a date for surgery Mick, you seem to have had a long wait.
Pleased you found a flat grandMattie, just need to make it how you want it.

Greyduster Thu 16-Feb-23 08:23:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp, grey South Yorkshire. Mick I’m glad you’ve got a date for your surgery. We shall all be rooting for you every step of the way!
I had another day with GS yesterday. No complaints from me; he was a great help in the garden even if my perennial fuschia will never be the same again after his ministrations! His idea of “trim it a bit” and mine parted company big time! Truth be told, I hate it, so it will probably come back as they seem to be impossible to kill! I also helped him with his history homework (we started off talking about Elizabeth the First and somehow ended up talking about Tsar Nicholas II. No idea how we got there!). Today I plan to do a little housework and nothing else.
Have the best day you can folks!

Susan56 Thu 16-Feb-23 08:20:29

Good morning from Shropshire.

Good you have the date for your surgery now Mick. You can start preparing for your hospital stay and then a healthier future beckons.

grandMattie the flat sounds just right for you. Will be praying the sale of your house and the purchase of the new flat go smoothly🙏🏻

I hope today isn’t as tiring for you baubles.

We had a lovely day yesterday. We collected our lovely B from school. He was at the end of the line of children and when he saw us he shouted that’s my grandma and grandpa and ran past the line of children. The teacher let him out first and he flew into my arms saying I missed you so much😭We had a couple of hours with him and then when DD and SIL got home we all went out for a meal.It was lovely to see B looking so well after being so unwell at Christmas.

Today is a childcare day.H is having his pre school booster this morning so DD will drop him after his appointment. We will give playgroup a miss today. After we collect DGD from school we will collect our bread orders from the artisan bakery in the village.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Hiraeth Thu 16-Feb-23 08:18:27

Granmattie I feel with you 💕after my husband passed away grandMattieI sold my house and moved into a flat . I’d looked at loads of flats and everytime I ended up crying . None of them felt like homes to me . I finally found a small flat with a garden and knew from the first looking that it was perfect for me . Near my daughters, son and grandkids . You,ve had to cope with grieving, selling your house and moving away from your home . You,re coping wonderfully .

ginny Thu 16-Feb-23 08:12:19

Good more all. A quiet day for me after a lovely day at the farm with 2 little Grandsons yesterday.
I have a nail appoint this afternoon which should have been on Tuesday .
Otherwise we’ll see how things go.
It’s MILs 91st birthday today and she is off to a hotel for the weekend with her 3 Grand daughters ( our DDs) she will love it.
Hoping all goes well for GM and Mick. and for all with stress or worries.
Hope Thursday is good for us all.

brook2704 Thu 16-Feb-23 08:09:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey with light rain
It’s good you’ve now got a date for your surgery mick hoping all goes well
Sounds like you’ve chosen the right property gMattie, the location would sway me the most. I hope there’s no hiccups and all goes smoothly
I’ve a quiet morning today but we’re doing the school pick up later and looking after the DGC for a few hours as their mum and dad are going out today
Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so tired baubles, take it easy if you can for a while
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

BlueSapphire Thu 16-Feb-23 08:07:58

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton, missing the sunny mornings of the last few days.

A pleasant afternoon at the well-being cafe yeaterday, chatting, eating rather nice cake and knitting. Which I had to undo when I got home, chatting too much I realised I had missed a cable pattern several rows back; there was nothing for it but to rip back six rows! But all sorted ok now.

Must be showered and dressed shortly, as I have a man coming this morning to check the loft for interlopers, and deal with the wasps nest that DS found. I may or may not get to dance classes today, depending on when he turns up. Then a Sainsbury's delivery late afternoon.

Hope all goes well today grandMattie.

And may today treat us all kindly.

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Feb-23 08:05:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and damp. That's good that your op date is fixed Mick. Grandmattie when I viewed my bungalow, the carpets were in a shocking state, the garden worse, but it was all fixable. I love my house now and I'm very happy with it. I think you are wise to choose a flat and look to make it yours. Alygran car problems are such a pain, aren't they?Baubles definitely cut down on the amount you are working! It's shocking that people use charity shops as a dumping ground.
Yesterday I visited my friend and was shocked at how much she had deteriorated in a week. The hospice nurse was in and then the district nurse. She's on quite a bit of morphine too. I really upset me but I didn't show it as her partner looks like he has had enough. Her ex thas been a star throughout. Thank goodness they all get on so well.
Today I have art class and I'm determined to go as I talked myself out of it last week. Apart from that, I have nothing planned. I'll potter about the house. I'm not sure yet what I'll have for dinner. Possibly chicken curry. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Thu 16-Feb-23 08:04:27

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 6°C.
Kalu, it use to amaze me that just up the road has different weather from us.
I used to message my colleagues from your area to warn them of snow, when they had none fifteen minutes away.

Do you need to rub it in about TKMaxx ? I could see it yesterday, beside Asda, but did not have the energy to visit.
I must be unwell!

A cheerier note from me today.
DH took me to the surgery to pick up yet another BP medication, (my BP is dangerously high, even when I do nothing) and my jury exemption letter.
I had a chat with the receptionist, whose boys I taught many years ago and who has always been exceptionally kind to me.
It was so good to talk to someone, other than DH.

I then persuaded a reluctant DH to take me to Asda, only five minutes away, on the pretext of getting my prescription dispensed, and also indulge in a bit of shopping.
I didn't last long, but on the plus side, much to my relief, there
were no expected vertigo attacks.
We were on our way home, when I realised that I had forgotten to pick up my prescription. 😞
DH was not amused, when we had to turn back.
I blame him, he was in such a rush to get out of the shop, (hates shopping) that I was so busy keeping up, I forgot! 😉

I got home to find an email from the court, telling me that I must provide a GP letter to support my claim for exemption. (I had already said, I was waiting for my GP)
I duly scanned my letter and five minutes later, got a pleasant reply exempting me. What a huge relief!
Yesterday was one of the better days!

I'm glad you found something GM, once its done up to your taste, I'm sure you will be very happy.

Mick, good to hear you now have a date for surgery and Baubles, please take care of yourself. I can't understand why people use charity shops as a dumping ground.

Have a pleasant day folks, whatever your plans and Blossoming, I hope you start to improve.

Now back to read the thread.

Urmstongran Thu 16-Feb-23 08:03:11

No Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp but mild. No sun just a wash of white/grey cloud. We have no heating on though. No need.

We are going downstairs to the bar below in an hour to enjoy a cooked breakfast with the Boy Wonder, L’il Miss and their mum. A treat but she says she wanted to disappear when her cleaning ladies arrive. Then she’s driving them over to a friend’s house where her kids are also on half term.

We have no other plans but I dare say Himself will offer to take the Boy Wonder to football training. I will go round and bath L’il Miss and we can play so her mum can get some lesson planning done for next week.

Have a good Thursday folks. x
