Anybody seen the South Park spoof take off of Harry and Megan?

I’ve seen clips and found it so funny. If it’s anything to go by then H and M are no longer that popular. Another cartoon take off from last year called The Sparkles is also quite amusing. I do keep hearing Frankie Howard telling me it’s wicked to mock the afflicted.

Quite honestly South Park is well known for taking pot shots at all and sundry since its inception. As I mentioned up thread, I became familiar with it through my sons in their teen years, and given they're only slightly younger than Harry, what's the betting he thought it was dead funny once too given teenage boys of that vintage were very much their target audience. I'd put money on it South Park has lampooned Trump, and would anyone care if they had.

Anyway, maybe when Harry finally meets up with his family again they could collectively greet them both with a warm and welcoming "Waagh"

It's spot on grin

How awful that everyone finds it so funny to make fun of others I don’t need to watch it I can see from the glee on here that’s it’s obviously horrible
This is what makes the so called developed world such a nasty place these days
If you think they are nasty people why would you resort to being as bad …. unbelievable😵‍💫

I think H&M have given us and the RF such a dose of bad mouthing and lies disguised as 'their truth' that we can't help but find this funny. They have made a living from being professional victims, so now they can wallow in more victimhood with the whole world laughing at them, thanks to South Park.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Feb-23 14:32:14

With respect Chestnet How do you know all they have said is lies ?
How can poking cruel fun at anybody be a joke I am truly surprised that people find this form of ‘having the whole world laughing at them’ appropriate or in the least bit entertaining
Shameful in my opinion

BlueBelle Fri 17-Feb-23 14:33:50

Perhaps we should bring the stocks back then we can all have a big old laugh as we throw tomatoes at them
Surprised and shocked at you all

I’d be more impressed if you found the things Harry and Meghan have said about their families shameful, but I heard not a peep from you about that. The invasion into the privacy of the families of these two is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

Urmstongran Fri 17-Feb-23 15:07:55

Every time I play the clip, that sign Meghan is holding “STOP LOOKING AT US!” cracks me up! Sooo funny.
🤣

Sago Fri 17-Feb-23 15:09:08

I’m not a big fan of M&H I however thought it was cruel and not funny.
I’m a big South Park fan……or maybe was.

Chestnut Fri 17-Feb-23 15:21:56

Like MaddyOne, I too am shocked that BlueBelle doesn't feel anything about the hurt H&M have caused the RF and others. Don't forget the poor lady who worked at Harry's school who was so disrespected by his misogynistic comments. Just disgusting. Then he talks about the lady he had sex with in a field. He didn't name her but it was apparently obvious who she was to all who knew them. He showed no respect for her. This could have disrupted her life and caused huge embarrassment if her husband didn't know. Again, this was disgusting and selfish, just for him to make money from his book.

And yes, BlueBelle, they have both told numerous lies which have been proven, plus made unsubstantiated hurtful and damaging claims. I have no sympathy.

TerriBull Fri 17-Feb-23 15:23:00

Bluebell South Park have lampooned many in the public eye, Trump for example would that be cruel. I believe other members of the royal family have been targets, as have various pope, presidents and world leaders. The mega famous, controversial and bizarre are always going to be in their sights, for example, Kanye West, Tom Cruise, Bill Gates. Quite honestly if they can take pot shots at the spiritual leader of one of the world's leading religions and our late Queen why not these two? I imagine the makers of SP will have the forthcoming coronation in their sights, I can't imagine they will see that as some sort of sacrosanct territory that can't be spoofed, it's all part and parcel of living in a free world imo.

Thanks for the link Chestnut. The "STOP LOOKING AT US" sign cracked me up too Urmstongran.

This is spot on.

I will repeat, being spoofed on South Park means you have "arrived" in certain circles in the US.

It is not considered a bad thing here.

Urmstongran Fri 17-Feb-23 16:17:53

I giggle now Smileless just thinking about it! Clever.
😁

BlueBelle Fri 17-Feb-23 16:45:01

Maddyone I haven’t commented about the cruelty of Harry and Megan to his family because I don’t know what’s gone on between them I don’t know who has been cruel to who or who to believe but even if I thought they were the worst people in the world I would not think this would be a good reaction

Obviously we have different levels of fun and comedy and what we each see as acceptable . I m just very surprised

I suppose two wrongs do make a right after all …ummm

MrsKen33 Fri 17-Feb-23 17:20:35

Excellent so true

25Avalon Fri 17-Feb-23 17:29:32

Like a caricature there have to be certain elements of a person’s character that are taken and exaggerated. At no time does South Park claim this is H&M but we recognise them nonetheless. It’s quite cleverly done and most of us found it very funny.

Chestnut Fri 17-Feb-23 17:29:53

I think for H&M it's a case of 'if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen' Bluebelle. They have been poking the bear for ages but the RF cannot respond as this will only create a royal spat. So South Park has taken the initiative and responded instead. I think most people who have been following the story feel it is well deserved.

M0nica Fri 17-Feb-23 17:32:57

Bluebelle Just because I, and many others believe in imprisoning murderers, doesn't mean I would rather hang them. Similarly, to make fun of hypocrites doesn't mean that anyone wants to bring back the stocks, and you forgot to mention the ducking stool.

These two people have done exactly what SP shows, told us they want to retreat to live a private life out of the spotlight and have trawled the tv studios of the world and written books that publicise the private lives of people who are meant to be dear to them - and then complain because the press are too interested in their private lives. Talk about pots calling the kettle black!

Had they done what they said, taken Prince Harry's modest but more than adequate fortune, bought a modest house in California, and lived a quiet life within their existing means, they would not be on SP.

But they have instead chosen to buy a hugely expensive house, adopt an equally expensive life style, and fund it by appearing on tv shows, and write books which, true or false, trashes Prince Harry's family. Frankly SP is fair comment and I have no sympathy for these two whatsoever. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

MerylStreep Fri 17-Feb-23 17:34:19

easybee
Harry did have one but that was removed together with parts of his anatomy.

Blossoming Fri 17-Feb-23 17:38:43

I thought this was vile.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Feb-23 17:46:47

So if you all despise them so much, we all resort to the same level of behaviour 🤷🏼‍♂️
For you not me

TerriBull Fri 17-Feb-23 18:10:28

I gather a couple of people who were temporarily in Harry's life, a teacher at his school who he mocked for a disability whilst there, when he deemed her sexually unattractive, I haven't read the book so correct me if I'm wrong anybody who has, plus the girl "older woman" he first had sex with, a mere 18 months or so age difference were dragged into the circus without prior consultation as to whether they were agreeable to that or not. Quite aside from the ongoing disclosure of private family matters, again without consultation, I think he demonstrates a complete lack of care and consideration particularly towards a couple or private individuals. He is not a crass and callow youth anymore and given he talks about having his privacy invaded whilst colluding with umpteen people to settle scores, he has demonstrated a complete lack of respect when it suits him.

I think anyone who sets themselves up as some sort of arbiter of how they think others should behave whether they be spiritual leaders, heads of state, royalty, celebrities can expect a certain amount of cynicism from the general public.

M0nica Fri 17-Feb-23 20:29:57

I do not despise H&A, I just think they have behaved very badly towards their families and all SP does is show their lives as they are living them. They keep going on about escaping the thread and seeking privacy while doing everything they can to attract it. SP merely points out the contradiction between what they preach and what they practice.

There are people in this world whose behaviour justifies criticism and that is all that is happening, not abuse, denigration or anything terrible. Just pointing out that someone's behaviour is hypocritical and that a cartoon has caught this aspect of their behaviour perfectly.

Bluebelle can you honestly say that you love everyone and are completely uncritical of everything they do, Putin?Kim what's his name in Korea, Chairman Xi?

Thanks for the link Chestnut. The "STOP LOOKING AT US" sign cracked me up too Urmstongran.

It hadn't occurred to me until I read your comment but it's very reminiscent of a Spitting Image sketch of Princess Diana - She was pouting and shouting how much she hated the press and the public gaze, while being topless on a balcony. In my memory.
I giggled then too.....

BlueBelle Fri 17-Feb-23 21:12:18

Of course I don’t love everyone Monica why would you suggest that of course there’s plenty of people I can’t stand or have no time for or totally disagree with but I hope I wouldn’t sink to the depths of this so called mocking humour
Each to his own and if you find it funny that’s up to you but it doesn’t stop me being surprised
