🎶 You need hands …..or do you?

I'm not usually aware of my own hand gestures but I did accidentally throw a fork full of cake across the room the other day during conversation

Talking with children or to friends, your hands help to make a point or demonstrate something. Talking to DH I rarely use my hands.

I am a hand talker,I used to be told if my hands where tied I would be rendered speechless.

Iam not French.

My friends laugh at my facial expressions also,apparently I have a naughty twinkle,but can remain straight faced.

I do use my hands a bit when talking but I hope not too much. What I find most annoying are women on TV panels with very long nails. There is a woman on Question Time with horribly long nails, often green or blue, and she waves them around in such a showoffy way. You really can't focus on what she's saying because it's all about the nails (or claws I should say). I would love to tie her hands down.

Im a hand talker and never even think about it.

Many years ago I was speaking to a man I had only just met when he siezed both of mine and said "Dont talk with your hands."

I pulled them free and used my right hand to slap him across the face.

He would not have done that to a man.

I hate seeing talons waved around too. I don’t think I use my hands much when speaking. I find it distracting when people use their hands too much.

I used to be 'hand talker' and got told I'd be speechless without them, and I'm not French either. Not extravagant movements and no talons involved. I trained myself to reduce my hand involvement and don't think I use them noticeably more than most people.

I don’t mind hand gestures but I find it very annoying and distracting watching news readers and politicians repeatedly use the two hand waving means of communication, up and down, up and down!

I have never fully understood the meaning of French and Italian hand gestures but facial expressions give me an idea of what is being expressed.

My family tease me about it though lots of my gesture smaller than the whole "arm waving" thing - and in my defence, I don't have talons.

I use hand gestures and so does my DB, perhaps it is our French ancestry! Or it could be a legacy from ancient times when hand gestures formed part of language.

It can be embarrassing, especially if there is a glass of red wine or a coffee in front of you.

My m-in_law was a hand talker my oh used to grab her hands then all she could do was laugh😂

I've found her! It's Ash Sakar, poster girl for the far left and the most annoying person ever! Here she is seen waving her talons around although I've seen worst when they are green or blue and she waves them quite wildly sometimes.

My family say that the best way to stop me is talking is to tie my hands behind my back.

This reminds me when some years ago we were staying in Italy on holiday. We watched a man talking on his mobile, he was next to a wall and was waving his arms about whilst talking . He realised that his movements were restricted being next to the wall and to our amusement ,he moved into the middle of the square to continue his lively conversation! I use hand and arm movements whilst talking it doesn’t bother me at all .

My DH uses his hands whilst talking, I notice it most when we’re in bed in the dark and he’s wafting the blooming covers about.

Rishi Sunak is also one, he’s always boasting about the size of the fish he’s caught!

My mother used her hands in conversation and DD, born seven years after her death, uses exactly the same gestures. I don’t, so it must be an inherited trait.

Oh yeah, her! Can't stand her, a smug know-all, and yeah her nails are horrible, claws, prob not her own either.

I use my hands in conversation, not too much I hope and after reading this thread may try and reduce this in future.No claws tho.😄
