Good morning to you all.
I’m pleased to say my kumquat marmalade turned out really well but I only got 3 jam jars out of 4 packs of (reduced in price) fruit. Last year I made some from a tree which had been given to me as a gift which then promptly died a month later.
We have childcare on Mondays (school pickup for DGD3) and we have her brother all day Tuesdays. We went for a walk for the best part of a mile without a pushchair. He’s such a good walker at 22 months.
No plans for today except a drive to the M&S food hall 8 miles away to collect a parcel and pick up a few food items.
Wishing everyone a good day and hope Mick’s operation goes well. I believe it’s tomorrow if I recall. Hope you start to feel better soon Mary.

Ooh, I wish, Urmstongran! St Ives is one of my very favourite places but alas I don't live there.
Another here who often pops back to read any really late good morning posts at the end of the day Taichinan!
Welcome back MellowYellow/Alzarin now Mizuna.
If I remember correctly you live in St Ives?
That’s ingenious Mizuna.
That’s a particularly good looking stick Grey. Relief that you found it
As if you would say, sorry it doesn’t suit dear Baggs. Heartfelt good wishes to you and your darling girl.
Kalu, my patio has a very high granite wall so I can't see the sky from my window. The mirrors are so I can see what's happening above.
An early afternoon good morning from a beautifully sunny hilltop in Wiltshire 🌞
I have cleaned the house from top to bottom (DH has taken DDog on a hike so peace reigneth at the moment!)
Third load of washing on, dinner’s in the oven, neighbours are putting up a new fence and I’m just waiting for the potatoes to cook 😊
That’s a lovely walking stick Greyduster!
Oh dear Dusty, I hope your DH is better quickly.
I hope you all have time to enjoy the sunshine ☀️ x
I love what you have done with your garden wall Mizuna you have sparked my interest to be on the lookout for a similar effect of pieces to hang in the garden.
What a frightening experience for both of you Dusty. Best wishes to your DH for a positive outcome.
Beautiful walking-stick, Grey! No wonder you'd be devastated if it got lost!
Good (late) morning from a dreich Boggy Brae. Not that that bothers the deer that sauntered through the garden earlier. The bullfinches are back plus a woodpecker and the chaffinches chatter chatter non-stop.
It seems my feeling of unease about btDD was something after all. Plans were in place for me to go down and see her and her family over next weekend. Yesterday she asked if it would be alright (alright?!?!) for her to come back to Boggy Brae with me for a few days. I imagine she needs talk-to-mum time. I would in her place. Other Granny and I will do a driving relay to get her back to Derbyshire in due course. OG will sort the boys out while DD is away from home.
Cake didn't get made yesterday but I've just concocted one with some dates, bananas and Brazil nuts. A slab of solid cake a day keeps me on an even keel.
Good day wishes to all
Oh Dusty how awful for you and your DH, hoping that whatever the cause it’s soon treated and he’s feeling much better soon. Good that you’ve had family with you these last few days
Hi 👋 to Mizuna and welcome back, you’ve been missed!
Dusty, what a fright you must have had. Hopefully the doctors will get to the bottom of things.
Taichinan, I come back later to read the posts. I have nothing better to do! 😂
Keep on posting!
Mizuna, lovely to see you posting.
I haven't been able to get out in the garden (I'm itching to do so), but I can just see the beginnings of new growth from the window!
The pears were actually quite sweet.
A very belated good morning all from a grey damp cold dreich Angus coast where it's not even slightly breezy - just hingin' as is my washing!
Sorry, I forgot to post earlier! I got caught up with Dancing GD's doings - a successful show in Inverness followed by a drive through the night so that she and her friend could catch a coach this morning to a gig in Manchester! Oh to be young again and have all that energy. As it is I'm totally exhausted just hearing about it!!
Glad to hear things are still moving forward towards next week's op Mick - soon be over. And so glad your offer has been accepted grandmattie. What a clever DD you have "Grandmabatty* - that cake is every little boy's dream. Lovely to see you back mizuna (aka alizarin)
Now I'm off (as probably nobody will be reading the end of today's posts anyway 😉) and make use of what little energy I have left after experiencing DDG's derring do.
Have the best day you can everybody x
Mizuna I've often wondered what you were up to! Welcome back. Dusty what a terrible fright for you.
Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Yesterday I had a nice visit with my Dsister to a nearby Elizabethan hall. She had only visited it once before many years ago, when I sang with a lutenist, a dear friend who has passed away so it was like a new trip for her. Like many nice things on one’s doorstep, I had forgotten about it and mean to go more regularly. We had lunch there and she went into the city in the evening to meet an old boyfriend, dressed up, in one of my nice black chiffon sleeved tops. I gratefully settled down with my new tv which I don’t understand.
Tonight we may go to a local folk club and she returns south tomorrow.
Good news grandMattie and plans for op firming up Mick.
Hope you all have the best Sunday you can.
A late good morning from a bright and sunny Northampton, still rather damp from yesterday's rain, so my plan of cutting the grass today is scuppered. I shall instead get out and do some general tidying.
The roof man failed to appear yesterday, so will give him a ring tomorrow.
A wonderful outcome to my rugby match yesterday! After being 17 points down at half time we effected a remarkable recovery to beat Sale 38-34. I went home a very happy bunny, (and also with a new club tee-shirt, as I had a few minutes to browse in the club shop before the match).
No other plans for today apart from gardening. Must also go back and read today's thread. Glad there is good.news for grandMattie and Mick.
Good morning from West York's weather getting brighter and a little warmer .Good news about obtaining flat Grandmattie . Grandmabatty. cake is amazing .not much happening here today.
What a scare dusty. No wonder you’d like your family with you a little longer. Hope mr dusty continues to feel well and there’s some clarification. Look after yourself too.
.
Good morning all from grey Algarve, it looks as if it rained during the night. Both daughters and niece have been here since Friday and don’t go home until tomorrow morning. They have had a good time and are determined to go to Carnaval this afternoon even if it rains again.
Plans had to be changed dramatically on Friday morning as DH was going to collect them from the airport at about 9.30am.
I’d stayed in bed whilst he went to have a shower first on Friday but suddenly heard strange noises.
DH’s legs had given way again and he’d collapsed on the bathroom floor. He’d collapsed in the shower but had managed to drag himself across the floor and was stuck, stark naked across the floor behind the door! Still unable to get up but completely coherent, he was half on, half off his bath towel. I somehow managed to get into the bathroom and after I’d made sure nothing was obviously broken covered him up to keep him warm and had to phone for an ambulance. By this time, the girls were due to land within the hour and had no idea what had been happening. When the ambulance eventually found us they decided to take him to the local Health Centre instead of Faro Hospital and knowing that they wouldn’t let me stay with him until all the checks had been done, I decided to stay at home until I’d messaged them and knew a bit more.
To cut a long story short, DH seems quite alright but will be seeing his doctor as soon as we can get an appointment. I should have collected blood test results last Friday but now have to wait to get them on Monday after which presumably I will need to see the doctor and hopefully DH will have even more tests to find out why this is happening.
I’m feeling somewhat fraught and just wish that the girls, who are all in their fifties and laugh at being called that, could stay another few days.
Good morning from an overcast south Cornwall. I'm ex-Alizarin but had to change my name because I've had a break for a while.
The photo is for Marydoll; if you can ignore all the other stuff you'll see that my patio pear tree budding. Last year yours fruited and mine didn't but I'm optimistic this year.
A peaceful, pottering day for me with church at 4o'clock.
Good morning from a sunny NE after heavy overnight rain.
DD and SIL are coming today and we are going to a bistro for lunch. Long time since I was last there so am looking forward to it, they do a fabulous tarte tatin and tarte au citron.
GD1 and her mum won't be visiting next week as they are off to Leicester and Sheffield for uni open days, can't believe we are at this point already.
Good news about your flat grandMattie, hope everything goes smoothly.
Have a good day all.
Morning all from a now sunny S Yorks. Missed that glorious sunrise Greyduster and so hope you find your stick. Take it easy Mick and glad to hear your news GMattie
Need a really easy day but will make it to Quakers.
Take care all and enjoy outings and families.
Good morning from a cloudy but increasingly brightening Black Country.
Thank you for the good wishes for MrJ. He had the procedure (apparently a membrane can sometime appear after a cataract Op) and was in and out within an hour as he said it was fairly quiet there. Drops for 4 weeks, and hopefully all is ok.
Gym this morning, then a relaxing day as I am out every day next week.
Wishing you all a very pleasant Sunday.
Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull and it’s a beautiful day.
Very pleased you have can think about the next stage of moving now your offer is accepted grandMattie.
Greyduster that’s a lovely sunrise pic and Grandmabatty I echo how talented your DD is creating the cake.
We have the DC and grandchildren over today and possibly my nephew and his little daughters. The house will be in chaos with all the toys. For tea we are finishing off the turkey crown from Christmas. I’ll slice it and cook it in gravy with veg and Yorkshire puds.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone and enjoy your Sunday lunches with family and friends. 🌻🌻
