Purchasing Christmas presents in February 🤔

I've just done a few Christmas presents up as I'm visiting my son & family out in Spain soon. It's murder trying to send things out there!

I like to give small gifts throughout the year.
If I can I make gifts and cards .
I often give homegrown plants as gifts .

I hate mad pre-Christmas panic present buying so I tend to buy in the sales and through the year .
It's cheaper and less stressful .
I have a present stash as -
occasionally I have an unexpected gift and must reciprocate and certainly when I look I have forgotten buying them !

Last year , I had to rely on my stash for some last minute gifts .One of my friends received her gift with such ill grace that I saw an entirely different side of her !

Yes I’ve done it since I got made redundant one year in the Oct few years ago and I had a really tight Christmas. And struggle to get my gifts so I thought I’m not going through that again. So now if I see something I will buy and put away like personalised stuff etc in some suitcases for Christmas and birthdays but for grandkids latest toy/game i buy near the time along with food gifts. With how tight money is nowadays I’m surprised everyone hasn’t started doing it. I start wrapping in September and see what else I need then by dec I’m all done while everyone is panicking lol

Unfortunately no I could never buy this early. As others have said how will you know what they will like come December I always get suggestions around October time so I start my shopping then. I actually enjoy buying presents.

I only buy things I know for definite that people will like .... I would never ever buy something that raised a sense of hmmmmmm 🤔 in me...

Yes I buy things in advance for Christmas. A groups of friends usually give a “goody bag” of little bits and pieces, candles, chutneys, special tea etc so if I go somewhere different I’ll pick up something there for one one of the bags. I enjoy doing it and it means I’m more organised. Don’t do it for family though so I have a nice time in December deciding what to get for them. For DH and me it’s usually books.

I wouldn't buy for children as they have a wish list nearer the time. I do buy for adults if I see something I know they'd like. I was caught out last Christmas when a relative decided we should stop buying presents, and I'd already bought theres.

I buy for 6 grandchildren who change their minds constantly and a Secret Santa so none can really be bought early.

I make quite a few presents for Christmas and birthdays. If I don't start sewing by Easter, they don't get done!! Last year I made beaded snowflake decorations for people I wouldn't buy expensive presents for, and they were all well received. In fact, two church groups want me to do an afternoon near Christmas so that the members can make them too! For next year, I have already started a cross stitch 3D Christmas house decoration for my sister who requests one each year and a quilted angel advent calendar for my two G-GC. I know it doesn't sound a lot, but arthritis means I am much slower at stitching than I used to be.

Thanks to mean and rotten partners of DS X2 I haven't contact with any of my so called family" any more one DS still gets me presents and cards bless him but that is it! 3 gorgeous GK not seen for 6 years nearly.doubt I'll see again. New Step GS born 6 weeks ago.no enthusiasm I'm afraid.had it all knocked out of me.pity , he's quite cute

When my daughter was young and getting invited to multiple birthday parties I used to buy about 6 age appropriate presents ( usually all the same ) as gifts in the January sales. It saved a scramble around shops the day before, I also bought a few adult gifts ( hand creme) this year as small gifts but tend to give as birthday gifts/ raffle prizes throughout the year. My sister used to buy in the sales throughout the year but forget where she put things afterwards😂 ,she had a large house.

i don't have any presents to buy, i did get all my personalised cards at reduced prices and have written all my neighbours/friends cards and put them away, when i did have gifts to buy i usually did that in jan/feb and extra things like christmas items when they are all reduced. i am one of those annoying organised people.

Like other GNs here, I have a "gift box" where I store small gifts that I gather throughout the year. As a family we don't give large gifts, but I buy small & useful/wanted items, as and when I see them. These may be for giving as birthday or Christmas gifts. and I don't always know who will be receiving them! Often they are good bargains or charity shop "finds". (I do own up to the latter!)

We don't start buying Christmas gifts until November, only giving to the children these days. We wait until they have done their wishlists before asking their parents for suggestions.
One year I bought some cards in the January sales but then forgot I'd bought them and got more. If I bought presents I'd have to hide them away and I doubt If I'd remember where I'd put them by December!

I too have a present drawer. At the moment, there are a few things for a DGD’s birthday in September. There are also two boxes each of Lindt and Green and Blacks which I bought in December at their lowest price for gifts. These are the ones that I didn’t use in the end. Unfortunately, due to the use by date, I might have to eat them myself!

All of our family who exchange Christmas presents make wish lists in November, so this wouldn’t work for us.

Only in the sales. Last year bought PJ's for £14 instead of £45. Can't resist a bargain!
