Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry out there in brackley hopefully mild as well .
I never ventured far yesterday doing bits and bobs in my flat plus watching cycling and was awaiting a phone call from the hospital in banbury as a pre op assessment over the phone, which never happened.
My main worry next week if my surgery goes ahead is the strikes which are taking place .
Take Care,
Mick

Marydoll Tue 21-Feb-23 07:49:38

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its currently 8°C.

Mick, it might be worthwhile contacting the hospital today to find out what is expected of you pre op and alleviate any anxiety.
Also, you don't want to jeopardise your surgery, by going out and about when you may be required to isolate beforehand.

Yesterday was yet another day of not being able to do much. There is a limit to how long one can lie about doing nothing!
A fellow gransnetter messaged me last night to inform me, that the husband of our old school friend and my bridesmaid, had died. It was quite a shock.

I have two face to face medical appointments today, so I need to summon up the energy to get out of bed and get dressed.

I hope your day isn't too stressful, GM.

Have a good day folks.

Greyduster Tue 21-Feb-23 07:49:54

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South/Yorkshire where the sun is up and the weather looks promising at the moment. And it’s very mild. Mick what a disappointment, your missing phone call. I hate it when I wait in and that happens. I went to the garden centre yesterday and bought some plants, and saw a couple of roses I will get when I have pots big enough to put them in. I enjoyed the drive over as I went the pretty way - country roads, and at one point, you go over a rise and see a huge swathe of moorland at the edge of the city spread out before you - it’s breathtaking. I never tire of it and always want to head straight for it, but I’m not ready for rough country walking yet. Today a bit more garden tidying today while the weather holds.
Safe travels Ash, and anyone else on the road.
Have a good day, folks.

GrandMattie when I sold my parents retirement bungalow the management company were very cooperative and quick. We had to pay a fee so they would provide all necessary information rather than gathering it together ourselves but it was smooth. I would have thought the vendor would be in a hurry because while the flat is unsold they are paying management fees.
I hope it goes through quickly and you feel better soon.

brook2704 Tue 21-Feb-23 08:00:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey, hopefully it’ll stay dry
Safe travels to your DH Ash, hope the journey goes well
Such a busy day gMattie, don’t know how you do it, take care
A few admin jobs for me today and not much else planned so hopefully I’ll get out in the garden for a bit more tidying
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

dragonfly46 Tue 21-Feb-23 08:01:36

You will miss olddudders Ashcombe hope he has a good journey back to France.

Gingster Tue 21-Feb-23 08:09:49

Good morning all and it’s a bit dreary here in Essex.

I did a long dog walk yesterday and we have to pass the groomers on the way to the fields. Little pooch pulled and looked straight ahead hoping we weren’t going in for her ‘usual’. ‘😂.

Bridge club this afternoon and pancakes for tea. Only ever make them on pancake day 🤔.

Hope your busy day goes according to plan GM. Especially as you’re not feeling 100%.🤞.

Lots of you having house improvements/repairs etc. it’s that time of year . Out with the old …… I think I’ll stick with the old , can’t face the upheaval.🤯.

Enjoy your flipping pancake day.🥞

GrannySomerset Tue 21-Feb-23 08:16:41

Supermarket visit and admin today plus pancakes later with a friend. I am supplying the wine and wondering what goes well with them.

Hope Mick’s arrangements work out - so distressing, not being sure - and that the travellers all reach their destinations safely.

monk08 Tue 21-Feb-23 08:17:10

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
No plans other than a bit of housework such an exciting life I lead.
No pancakes in this house, I've never liked them did make them when DS was little so glad when he was able to make his own.
Will grab a cuppa 🍵 and catch up with everybody's news and happenings 31 posts.
Enjoy your Tuesday and may you all find some ☀️.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 21-Feb-23 08:21:29

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful morning in Hull.

Urms Matt is indeed very topical I was horrified yesterday that the woke snowflakes had got hold of our beloved Roald Dahl books. Good luck with your chat with your friend.

Grandmachrisy47 what cute little pups 🐶

This morning I’m going to the gym and later after an early pancake tea it’s off to DDs to look after our little ladies.
We will have a savoury pancake stuffed with mushrooms bacon and cheese and a honey and lemon one yum.

Have a lovely day everyone. Thoughts to those feeling poorly and stressed.🌻🌻

Good morning from a drizzly S Hampshire at 7. We had another fun evening at quiz last night, it’s good to get out over these dull months.
Two friends for dinner tonight, beef stew already made, it’ll be reheated and served with mash and kale.
Busy days for some of you, I hope they all go well, safe journeys for travellers.
Tricky Urms but best addressed, you’ll feel better when it’s done.
Enjoy your Tuesday all 🦩🦩

Good morning all from North Ayrshire where it’s dry at the moment and the sea, which I can look at from my bed, is calm.

A lovely relaxing afternoon and evening yesterday. I had a spa treatment which was indeed a real treat.

A walk on the beach after breakfast I think, then we’ll see what the day brings. Perhaps nothing more than reading my book in a comfortable armchair.

Photo from last night showing the view from our room. The clouds are sitting on top of Arran.

I hope you hear from the hospital today Mick.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Liberty Tue 21-Feb-23 08:25:29

Good morning from a dull Suffolk. Yesterday was absolutely glorious, warm and sunny all day. It was 14 degrees when I popped out at 5pm!

DH has always been the pancake maker in our house and will continue that role this evening. Lemon and sugar…yum.

I remember when the 3 children were at home and how long it took for them all to have at least 3 and they all wanted a go at flipping 1. Happy times. A much shorter event now.

Not much planned apart from the morning dog walk and a pile of ironing calls.

Hope all have a peaceful day with any worries lessened.

ginny Tue 21-Feb-23 08:29:53

Good morning and Happy Pancake day . We will be going down to our small town to watch the pancake race today. DGS 2 is in the children’s race and DD3 is running in the main race. So we will be keeping an eye on the litte one.
Out for a meal with long time friends this evening.
Wishing all a good day.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 21-Feb-23 08:30:35

What a stunning view Baubles I would love a walk on that beach. Enjoy. X

Marydoll Tue 21-Feb-23 08:32:10

Baubles, I have worked out where you are!

We have stayed there a few times, enjoy!

Alygran Tue 21-Feb-23 08:32:35

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Cloudy and dry so far.
DD2 has gone home, the spare room is covered in clothes etc waiting to be packed tomorrow. She was a great help!
Washing on and freezer sorting today before a trip to town for a couple of last minute bits and pieces.
Lots of appointments, medical and otherwise today for many!
Have a good day.

Susan56 Tue 21-Feb-23 08:37:35

Good morning from Shropshire.

I’m not feeling 100% today so a quiet day at home catching up on a few things this morning and reading/napping this afternoon.

Hope the appointments go well today Mary and Mick I hope you get some answers re your operation.

Safe travels to all on the move and Urms I hope the conversation puts your mind at rest💪🏼

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

luluaugust Tue 21-Feb-23 08:45:35

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Off to visit DF where I used to live, not too far and looking forward to catching up. Other than making pancakes later a quiet afternoon.
I hope medical appointments go well and Micks is sorted out.
Baubles I don't know where you are but it looks lovely.
Best wishes to all

Greyduster Tue 21-Feb-23 08:46:22

Good morning from West York's ,we are having some pointing done around our front and side doors the banging has started 🙄.I'm like you Monk I don't like pancakes I used to make them for family but oh not bothered either.Have a good day everyone .

Georgesgran Tue 21-Feb-23 08:50:27

Good morning from Durham. Watches sorted yesterday - only batteries needed - £12.50 each at an independent jeweller. Both had battery clamps missing - very odd - a coincidence both were done at Timpsons last time?
My gardening crew is coming to look at the wonky fence today. A recommended chap has let me down twice and I don’t think I can wait much longer.
Frustrating not to get your phone call Mick and left just wondering - hope it’s soon resolved.
I put my rental back on the books yesterday and have 3 viewings next week - it’s with a local agent, but I’m told the council has brought in another landlord rule which will cost £500 for 5 years - I wish I’d sold it, but the sales market there is quite strange.
I might visit a dear friend in hospital. She’s been in a lot longer than first anticipated. I fear I will be shocked when I see her, as her DH reports her as very frail - such a contrast to a few short months ago.
Hoping those waiting to see Doctors and Dentists have a good outcome and those travelling arrive safely.
Best wishes to all. X

Morning from an overcast S Yorks.

You'll get there, Greyduster1

Mick yes good idea to ring.

Just the gym today I think, zoom counselling at midday.

Lots of appointments or trying to get them today: bests with those: Baubles how lovely. May friend difficulties be resolved, enjoy your pancakes, and take care poorlies.

Georgesgran Tue 21-Feb-23 08:56:42

Marydoll Good luck with your face to face appointments. Like buses you get two together!

EkwaNimitee Tue 21-Feb-23 09:01:01

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey but mild Carlisle.
I hope you get some positive news from the hospital Mick.

I plan a morning of housework and tedious admin followed by an afternoon of pleasing me which should involve a walk. I need exercise!
I'm getting used to my new glasses which have a slightly changed prescription. They're varilux but with a different type of lens in them to the previous ones. They were cheaper than the old ones which would have to have been ordered in...if they were still available. The new ones seem ok for distance but I'm not sure about them when reading....which I do a lot of.

Baubles...a lovely photo and how lovely to be able see the sea from your bed!

Have the best possible day all.

Good morning everyone, and happy Pancake Day, from a grey and overcast Northampton. Haven't read all the posts yet, so will have a session reading them a bit later.

Had an enjoyable yoga class yesterday then did the 15 minute walk to the pub for Knit and Natter. Managed to sort out the complicated shaping on the cardigan I am making.

In the afternoon I got the bus down to Next to pick up a couple of orders, so will be trying those on later this morning. I may need another trip back to the shop if they don't fit!

A morning of pottering - must take the Shark upstairs to Hoover the bedrooms - then a health walk after lunch. Hoping the weather holds out as it looks threatening at the moment. Coffee at the little cafe afterwards.

Perhaps pancakes later on. Still seems strange making them just for me - DH loved his pancakes! He always had them with a dash of Cointreau.

Have a pleasant day everyone.
