Urmstongran

Here’s Matt.

A hungover good morning from me. It’s dry and sunny here.
Luckily I have no plans other than to rehydrate. I had a lovely time yesterday but now I’m paying the price for my silliness. At my age you’d think I’d have learnt by now that extra glasses of red wine are not a good idea.

Oh dear, rest, hydrate and hopefully you will be fine by lunchtime 😘🤣

Good morning all, from a beautiful morning in Glasgow, where its a chilly -3°C.

Did anyone see the sky last night with Jupiter and Venus on either side of the moon? It was so clear.
I did ask DH to take a photo, but he wasted so much time being David Bailey, that the sky had clouded over, by the time he was ready.

I spent much of yesterday afternoon sleeping, due to a severe vertigo attack. Feeling reasonably ok, I had been rummaging in my gift cupboard and foolishly lifting heavy boxes when it came on with a vengeance.
DH hates that cupboard, because it is packed to the gunnels with bargain gifts, so I was reluctant to ask for help!

Today I plan to do little, because DIL has offered to take me out tomorrow for an hour to the Range, to get a couple of picture frames to match ones I already have and I want to be well enough to go. Simple pleasures!
The only times I have been out since New Year, have been for medical appointments, with a supermarket visit tagged on, on the way home. I have always needed someone with me, because I am quite unsteady on my feet and also extremely frustrated!

DH was very upset yesterday to hear that his friend and ex boss from his days in the LA in Ayr, had died. We have two friends in the last week, who have died. It has knocked us for six.
If I feel well enough on Monday, I have offered to go with him to the funeral in Ayr. Fingers crossed! I may get a glimpse of the sea!

Mick, it is good the preparations for you op seem to be going well.
However, I'm sorry to come across so bluntly, but I am at a loss, as to why you are ignoring the friendly and sensible advice on here, to avoid picking up any infection pre op.
It is not only yourself that you need to think of, but staff and fellow vulnerable patients.
My friend died of Covid, picked up in a hospital waiting room, where she had gone for pre op testing. It was the only place she had been in months.
Her DD and SIL, who had accompanied her ended up in hospital, seriously ill.
This is why, I feel so strongly about people being careful.

Safe journey Ash, enjoy your family time.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
It's good to hear of all your plans to be out and about. A sort of transferred joy. 😉

Good morning from a bright & sunny Sefton.
We enjoyed our visit to the theatre last night....The King and I with 'Trixie' from Call the Midwife as Anna.
Zumba community class this morning. Hope I can keep up, my energy level is still low after my recent bout of 'not Covid'. Then a visit to the fish man followed by cupboard restocking in the supermarket.
Have a good day all. ((Hugs)) to those with worries & struggles.

Good morning from Glasgow where it is dry and sunny.

What a difference some sunshine makes. My meet up with two friends for coffee yesterday was spent sitting in the sunshine on the terrasse of a nearby hotel. What a joy to feel the sun again.
A day in the garden pottering about at leisure is on the cards.

I am a big fan of robins Mizuna. Where they nest in our hedge is beginning to resemble a block of flats with the gaps they have made in the hedge in one area. I enjoy watching their comings and goings when I have my morning coffee.
Pleased to hear all went well apart from the blood sample difficulty Mick. I would have thought the hospital would have advised you to self isolate before the day of your op. Take care if you are going out.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning from a damp looking and grey Suffolk. Not long up and have my stretch class in just over an hour so must get a move on.

Will read your posts later. Off to lunch with 3 dear friends and a good catch up promised as usual.

Hope today is kind to all.

ginny Thu 23-Feb-23 08:30:22

Good morning.
Smallest DGS will be here after the school run for an hour or so.
Sewing club this afternoon.
Craft club was busy yesterday but went well and everyone enjoyed the project.
Hope today is kind to you all.

baubles Thu 23-Feb-23 08:31:30

What a glorious morning.
Another beach photo but this time more of Arran is visible.

Last night’s clear sky gave us a good view of the moon with Jupiter and Venus.

Thank you for the good wishes for our anniversary yesterday.

Our short break is over now and we will leave mid morning to drive to Edinburgh. DS and family were away last week so I’m looking forward to hearing about their trip to the south of England where they were visiting the childrens’ other grandmother.

Enjoy your visit to your family Ash.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Morning all from S. Yorks where I think we'll have sun.

I also loved the sweet robin story. Perhaps one for senior dating sites, "will you feed me through my beak".

Love reading the ups and downs of days. Susan glad 6 day old babe good news: Urms no it aint what it used to be.

Cleaner today at 9, better heave ho and get dressed, tho it doesn't really matter too much, will go out to the gym.

Bests for poorlies and enjoy your outings.

baubles Thu 23-Feb-23 08:33:47

A not very good photo of last night’s sky.

Wyllow3 Thu 23-Feb-23 08:35:46

Nice one Baubles, it was overcast here.

Forsythia Thu 23-Feb-23 08:41:37

Another grey day here on the south coast with some drizzle. After a session at keep fit yesterday I am aching a bit today. Must be doing me some good. Today, coffee with a friend in town, a trip to the pharmacy and then a few jobs indoors. In other words, a quiet day.
Hope everyone enjoys their day where they can.

GrannySomerset Thu 23-Feb-23 08:46:10

U3A book group here this morning and a trip to the village for a facial later, both good activities so a nice day in prospect. The new items for the updated children’s corner in church are arriving so the garage will soon be full and we can get going. The plan is to have it ready to dedicate on Easter Sunday but carpeting may hold us up. The prospect of a skip for the ancient and tattered stuff there now is galvanising others to clear out other parts of the church where stuff is stored/dumped - a sort of ecclesiastical spring cleaning.

Marydoll Thu 23-Feb-23 08:46:14

Here is my my moon picture, taken with my phone, so not as clear, as I would have liked.

Greyduster Thu 23-Feb-23 08:48:11

Baubles stoppit! I’m getting serious beach envy!!

harrigran Thu 23-Feb-23 09:03:38

Good morning from a sunny NE where it is 3 degrees.
We had a successful shopping trip, there was no shortage of fruit and veg as suggested by the newspapers.
SIL fixed my tablet, Google had stopped working for some reason and it was very annoying.
Went online to complain to Royal mail because they did not swap all of my stamps for new bar coded ones.
While online I applied for a global health card, these often take some time. I may need to travel abroad and obviously would get travel insurance but feel happier having both.
Glad you have had your pre op assessment Mick but you really do need to isolate yourself for a while. When I had my bowel op I stayed away from public places for two weeks and that was pre covid. Not wanting to scare you but further delays could really be serious.
Have a good day all.

EkwaNimitee Thu 23-Feb-23 09:05:55

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but frosty Carlisle.
I too had a wonderful view of the moon, Jupiter and Venus though my attempt at photography had results much like Bauble's.
Nature is also in action here, not robins but the resident swans on our big pond. Some of last years brood are still hanging around and Dad has had enough! He's ready to start on another generation and has been charging round the pond, wings raised, trying to chase the now-grown cygnets off. They seem to be slow taking the hint.
Yesterday went well, I went to the hairdressers in the morning and also unloaded more books in Oxfam's bookstore. I found M&S had decent supplies of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, raspberries and strawberries. I got home to find a message from the hospital...my venesection that afternoon was cancelled, my iron stores have been reduced to normal levels. Btw their strong instructions before a bloodletting are to drink plenty of liquid beforehand. I also try to warm up the area, it brings the veins to the surface.
More sort of good news, a call from the hospital physios for me to confirm attendance at a group meeting for us with prolapses...to precede the one to one. Apparently there is an 11 month wait between referral and being seen. I have only been waiting since last July!
This morning I shall do the ironing and might follow that with bathroom cleaning. I'd like to get outside this afternoon in this good weather but have a Tesco delivery mid-afternoon.

I hope you all have the best possible day.

luluaugust Thu 23-Feb-23 09:17:13

Good morning from a grey WKent. Off to art group this morning and then a walk planned this afternoon.
Best wishes to all

BlueSapphire Thu 23-Feb-23 09:38:40

A later good morning from a grey and windy Northampton, but when I popped out with somethiǹg for the bin it felt quite mild. So I have just put a load of washing on, as it should dry quite nicely today.

A busy day yesterday; Out to coffee in the morning at a neighbour's, where we all caught up with each other's news. I had to pop home at one stage to pick up a skirt that was due to be returned to Next (slightly too tight for me) and promptly sold it to one of my neighbours who was thrilled with it!

Then after a quick lunch, off on the bus to book club, where after a short discussion of the book, we partook of a glass of fizz and coffee cake and set the world to rights.

No dance classes today (our teacher is on holiday), so a Sainsbury's delivery later this morning.

I then intend to clean, dust and Hoover upstairs, and probably change the bed, but whether my intentions come to materialise is another matter..... Might have to sit down with a coffee and think about it. May cut the grass this afternoon....

Still have some pancake batter left, so pancakes beckon.

Have a pleasant Thursday everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 23-Feb-23 09:42:49

Good Morning from bright and sunny Harrogate. It's a long time since I've been able to look over to Arran, Baubles from living in Prestwick, many years ago.
Llfl that definitely looks like something your DSH should have seen to ASAP. Not very pleasant for either of you.
Hope you are at least wearing a mask when you are out gallivanting, Mick for your own sake at least.
Today I await my Sainsburies delivery. Then this pm we are having our postponed pancake day tea with 2DDs, 2DGC, possibly SIL and us. Guess who's the busy one?
Have the best day possible folks.

Good morning from a chilly (3°C) bright Lancashire. Yesterday turned stormy so the laundry is hanging up indoors. I still went for a walk and got a soaking for my pains! I found it quite exhilarating. Looking forward to another walk today without the rain. I need to drop a urine sample off at the doctors, Mr. B will take me as it’s too far to walk.
I’m glad your pre op went well Mick. Safe journey to anyone traveling today.
Hope you all find a little joy today 🦩🦩🦩

Georgesgran Thu 23-Feb-23 10:18:50

Good morning from a bright Durham. Last night I hauled a garden table, 4 chairs and a massive vintage suitcase/trunk down the drive for a bulky waste collection @ £18.50. I saw the wagon arrive earlier, but they’ve only taken the suitcase and left the rest! Apparently they’ve ‘til 5pm to pick it up, but why leave it?
Discussed a May holiday with friend yesterday - she’s happy to do the research and I’m happy to go anywhere.
Coffee later today with a friend, then collecting DGS1 for a sleepover.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a beautiful blue skied Algarve. The temperature is about 12° but there’s a bitter wind blowing. Lovely to see the blue sky though.

Hope you feel better soon GrandMattie and everyone else who is feeling poorly.
. Mick I was told by the phlebotomist once to drink a glass of water just before a blood test and it would make it easier, it might be an old wives tale though!

hollysteers Thu 23-Feb-23 11:01:30

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Enjoyed yesterday, as the weather was good took the bus instead of driving to lunchtime recital, flute and piano, then a bite to eat in M&S, resisting all purchases.

Watched a 1973 Play for Today last night with Celia Johnson “Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont” recommended by my sister. Beautifully done and the book is good too.
Now to hang some washing out.
Sorry your bloodletting took so long Mick and hope all your arrangements go well grandMattie
Hope you all have the best day you can, will read through properly later.

dustyangel Thu 23-Feb-23 11:20:06

Interesting to see that the advice to hydrate before a blood test is still being given, not an old wives tale then.
I loved the robin story, it made imagine chubby robin mums giving their daughters advice about finding a reliable mate.
