I ordered some trainers from FitvilleUK online (I know 🤦🏻‍♀️) which were supposed to be good for plantar fasciitis. Before placing the order I checked out their returns policy which stated a full refund would be paid on return of unworn items, in perfect condition in the original packaging accompanied by the order number. I ordered a size 6 but they are very big, more like 7.5. Their delivery charge is £7.99. I know ‘buyer beware’ but it turns out that they very slyly omit the fact that there is no UK store, and customers are responsible for the return postage cost to Germany, yet this is not mentioned anywhere on their website. There was no returns info with the delivery so I emailed them, and they simply suggested a refund of £18 as the postage is prohibitive to return to Germany and you get to keep the useless trainers. Somebody at the charity shop will find a use for them I’m sure. I should of course have checked Trustpilot where they get a real bashing. You live and learn.

Ooh, thank you Sasta
I’ve been looking at the very same trainers.
What a pain.
Is this another Brexit Bonus I wonder?

Sasta - I don’t want to rub salt into your wound, but shoes is one thing I would never buy on line. Clarks is my go to store for footwear. Inexpensive and comfortable. I also like Sketchers.
I’m really sorry this has happened to you - live and learn as they say.

The website clearly states that items are shipped from the US, Germany or Hong Kong. It also says they don’t give free returns for international deliveries. Nothing ‘sly’ about it, the information is there on the website.

I remember discovering this with Ecco boots, ordered several years ago, way before Brexit. Fortunately they fitted perfectly and wore very well, but it was not until the order arrived I realised that if returned I had to pay postage to Norway/ Denmark /Sweden (?).
Buyer beware.

Charles Clinkard offer a very good on line service. I just received a pair of Gabor shoes from them very promptly. I have bought from them several times before.

I much prefer to try shoes in a shop, with my funny feet, but isn’t it becoming increasingly difficult to do so, with so many branches closing, and the ones that are open mean a car journey of some distance for me?

Really! Well I never. What a wally, I never saw that. I still think they didn’t make it clear enough in the returns policy which I read in full. Hey ho.

Love their sandals, all I wear in the summer. We don’t have one in our town but I’ll go check out walking shoes and trainers.

Thanks crazyH, I got two pairs of sketchers but I’m not getting on with them, but I’ll look at Clarkes too.

That’s was a lucky one eazybee!

That’s absolutely right Ziplok, and of course trying on is much more sensible. Their marketing was very good though, pushing the plantar side. That’s my excuse 🤭
