A very early good morning on last day of february 28th. I was awake at 4am and despite my resolution to try and sleep better , could not resist the opportunity to go outside to hope to see the Aurora Borealis. So on with dressing gown and slippers and crept outside. No luck, very dark and clouding and drizzling, with only the occasional bird song. Disappointing but worth the try I felt Just been out again in hopes but again still very dark and damp but more birdsong. I expect Marydoll and others who are further up north will have been luckier with the real thing. some absolutely wonderful pictures on the local news last night and am green with envy a bit, anyway they looked wonderful and perhaps I will be lucky one day. So I can go and make a much needed coffee shortly to enjoy. I wont allow myself to have coffee before 6am as that is another way I end up waking earlier and earlier every day. No doubt I shall fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon now and miss half a play or something, but I dont care. Plans are great and can help you make the most of your time and energy, but for me they are never set in stone and something like the Borealis definitely trumps whatever plans I had made! Even though I did not see them I feel very good mentally. Part of things again, not outside them, which is very important to me. I hate to think I know exactly what is going to happen day to day for the rest of my life. Maybe we have to be organised generally to keep going in the best way we can and keep up with bills etc but I will always want to be able to take off in some way or other and do my own thing. How cheering to think it is March tomorrow and look forward to more daylight, more flowers and plants, and fingers crossed , being able to walk a bit more. well now I have the Yellow Peril (mobility scooter) even on a bad walking day I can at least get outside in the fresh air, and use it to get to a park or near the river so that what walking I am able to do is somewhere nice, not just along the road. Hope some of you saw the light(s) and will have a moment today when you do your own thing, whatever that might be. Have a good day all

a very late good morning , really good afternoon now. Just had a look and I had sent a post in about 6am but it seems to have disappeared into the ether!! Any way it has been good to read your posts I have had quite a cough and not been well but was improving until no doubt made my throat worse as I was yelling and shouting at the rugby yesterday. It was a fantastic game and although it would have been lovely to have seen it with someone else here, I still enjoyed it all and of course singing flower of scotland and the marseilles, such great things to sing compared to the english dirge!! So am improving a bit, had a short walk round , but after the rugby was intending to listen to Pick of the Week and fell asleep and missed it! However I did later watch Metroland with John Betjamin on BBC4 which had a man who had bought and rebuilt a worlitzer organ in his house and it took up about half his space in the house. I do enjoy the eccentricity of people who live their own way , not bothering others but dont follow the herd. Good for him!Well hope your afternoon goes well for you all.

Wow! Great photos of the northern lights! Saw them once when we lived in Aberdeen, an astounding moment!

Good morning from the south coast where it was frosty first thing but now bright and sunny but chilly. A quiet day for us with maybe some gardening plus chores.
Hope you all have a good day, where you can.

Lovely photographs!

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside cold northwest coast.
Very nice day yesterday with good meal in French style restaurant, a regular for me, then lovely classical concert in hall where Dickens and Oscar Wilde have performed. Second half sat in red velvet edged balcony opposite large beautiful chandelier. It’s the hall where I sang my very first solo when aged eighteen. Then good conversation with old friend in the oldest pub in the city before train home.
Today, down to earth and to the dentist where I’m hoping he will say nothing further need be done to the tooth which is now not bothering me after my course of antibiotics.
Thoughts to all with worries.

Taichinan Mon 27-Feb-23 09:20:47

Good morning all from a cold grey Angus coast. Although honestly we haven't had a bad winter here, I'm now tired of it and yearning for Spring. In fact if I had my way it would be Spring all year round but then I wouldn't be aware of it!
The aurora was visible here also Brook, and where my DD lives. She and DGD3 took lots of photos. DD said the pink wasn't visible to the naked eye, only in the photos. I'll see if I can attach one.
And that's all my excitement - second hand as usual! I did have a bit of a chuckle though - I put an announcement on a local Facebook community page about new Tai Chi classes starting in March and someone asked if they were cookery classes 😅
BlueSapphire a difficult day for you flowers and a hug
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning from a lightly clouded Carlisle where I'm hoping the sun will win out.
Today is the usual housework and laundry plus I'm carrying on sorting out some lighter clothes for my fast approaching holiday. I got out my summer trousers yesterday and was amazed by the quantity of them! And yet, if I want a pair for a particular occasion, none will be 'right'....

A thoughtful day BlueSapphire.

And the best possible day to all.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve been up for a while and it’s bright and clear outside. We have the carpet man coming today. Where we removed the fitted wardrobe in the new room, we have been left with a large rectangular space! Fortunately we saved the leftover carpet so the carpet man will put down some underlay and fix the carpet to fit. Thing is, the new wardrobe(being delivered next month) will cover the patch! Have a good day.

Grammaretto Mon 27-Feb-23 08:53:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cold and grey though the birds don't seem to notice
My covid test was negative yesterday so it's only a cold and everything happened as planned. DD and family came for lunch and play. The DGC asked for seconds of soup (unheard-of) it was carrot and sweet potato btw
They even saw the northern lights on their drive home. Not my photo.

They now have a week or two of teacher strikes so DD being the only SAHM in the neighbourhood has to run a home school by the sounds of it.
Today I need to shop and makes some pots and I have my df and her DSis coming to sort through my important papers to help sort me out.
Is it really 5 yrs BlueSapphire? You have done so well. flowers

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent. We are off for a fish and chip lunch with DH's old boss and his wife. Before lockdown we used to meet regularly and we are trying to get going again. They are both in their mid 80's and we all enjoy a trip down memory lane.

Best wishes to all

Morning from a chilly overcast S Yorks. No moon last night - its ben at least 7 days without sight of stars.

BlueSapphire thinking of you on this sad day.

Slept better so its off to the gm this morning.

You are doing a good shedding job there Gmattie. A set of original Ladybird books, that's quite something. having moved quite a bit I won't have too much shedding to do when I get a move together.

Bests for appointments, results, and family time. Rest for the poor lies.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a cool cloudy South Yorkshire. Yesterday’s visit from DS, DiL and surprisingly, one of my now adult stepgrandsons, was lovely. DS helped with lunch, we ate promptly at two, and then, as the sun was shining, we wrapped up, DiL tied the laces on my walking shoes for me and we had a walk along the lanes bordering our house. The first time I’ve been “off road” since my hip was replaced. Fortunately it was very dry under foot, and I so enjoyed the change of scenery. Hedgerows in the green - it’s all looking very springlike. Don’t intend to go very far today. I have some flowers to buy so a walk to the supermarket. Perhaps more garden clearing.
bluesapphire💐.
Good luck with DH’s hospital appointment, Corner.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from dry but dull South Lanarkshire.

brook I would love to see the aurora and apparently it was visible from here last night as people were posting photos on Facebook. I went outside but could see no sign of it, a local photographer said it was only visible through a camera lens. I’m hoping it will be a clear evening again so I can try to spot it.

It was gone three am before I dropped off last night, no idea why but I’m like a half shut knife this morning.

I must make a vat of chilli today as my freezer stock is running low.

flowers Blue.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a damp Nn. Bucks.
The sun tempted us out yesterday so we had a visit to a NT property about an hour away from home.
DH has golf today and I’m off to a pottery class this morning. This evening I have a zoom art class.
Lovely to hear about outings you have all enjoyed.
Wishing all a good day with some smiles along the way.

Good morning all. It’s frosty here in Essex but the sun is out.

Dd came for lunch yesterday and was feeling better. She’s very bloated from the steroids and other meds, which makes her uncomfortable and breathless! Hopefully she can be weaned off them soon. We are out for lunch today with my old pal and her Dd (who happens to be my DGD ‘s teacher.! (She doesn’t work on Mondays).. I hope Dd will be up to it 🤞will do her good.

Lovely to hear about the dancing girls. 👯‍♂️🩰. It’s such a wonderful hobby to have. My Dd danced until she had children , even went to dance college after school and had a lovely time with all the shows, exams and camaraderie that comes with it.

Enjoy your dinner tonight Gg - sounds like an interesting speaker.

Glad the baby shower went well MD - when is the baby due?

Take care everyone and keep warm 🥶

Good morning from a rainy Black Country.

Hope it stops soon as it is my Monday walk this morning.

No real plans after the walk, so go with the flow. Have a busy week after today.

I would be like you kitty go with the kitchen you like. Seeing more would just confuse me! Hope the phone call produces the consequences you require...fingers crossed.
