Good morning all from chilly South Lanarkshire.

A difficult day for you Georgesgran flowers.

Yesterday we had a mooch around the West End (Glasgow, not London) and had a coffee in a very pretty patisserie. We sat next to two women who spent the entire time taking selfies and photos of each other in various poses, they even had a small hand held light in order to get professional looking photos, probably for their instagram accounts. I couldn’t believe how completely self absorbed they were and that they were oblivious to the fact that they were getting in the way of other people as they shifted positions in order to get different backgrounds. Completely spoiled our visit.

We’re popping over to DD’s this morning as we haven’t seen them for a couple of weeks.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning from S Lanarkshire, cold but still. A quiet day ahead for me which is very welcome. I have a smoked ham haugh soaking since last night so hoping for a good pot of soup later with ham and cabbage for dinner.

On my return from Edinburgh yesterday afternoon I joined a friend for a service for the women’s world day of prayer, written this year by the women of Taiwan. It was instructive and peaceful and a lovely way to complete my visit.

Thoughts then and now for all with health anxieties and waiting for test results.

Shazza, your London trip sounds marvellous, I love the words ‘Pudding Lane’! It’s ages since I did a London visit, it used to be a regular thing, first with my DH and then with my friend and her husband. She has actually floated the idea again recently and your description is tempting me!

Grandmabatty, I meant to admire your paintings, how satisfying it must be to be able to create something like that, I truly envy the talent that you and others on this thread display.

Here’s hoping I achieve my plans for today and that everyone else does too, good wishes to all🦩

Good morning from a grey, dull and damp Essex by the sea.
Thinking of you Georgesgran.
Not much on the cards here today. Some shopping first thing, a new jigsaw later and probably a film tonight.
Have a super Saturday everyone xxx

Welcome Sangela! Jump right in!

cornergran Sat 04-Mar-23 08:17:59

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks grey and gloomy.

Enjoyed our meal with our teenagers and their Dad. The food isn’t really what I’d choose (everyone else loves it, I’m just awkward), the company on the other hand exactly right. Good to have chatting time, our nearly 17 year old is so positive and excited about her future it helped overcome worry about our son who is under enormous pressure.

A need to buy some food at some point today, also collect a parcel otherwise nothing planned. I may venture into the loft and pass (throw!) down some bedding and curtains to sort and hopefully pass on.

Our local Salvation Army always welcomes bedding for their housing projects grandmattie. You may find there is something similar locally. Go gently georgesgran flowers. A hug on its way urms, would planning something enjoyable for you both each day, no matter how small, help?

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is gentle with us all.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -1° with lovely blue skies. A tad frosty. georgesgran 💐. A hard day for you. Marydoll I had a laugh at you talking through the doorbell to the street! I hope Wee Dolly recovers soon. Mizuna happy birthday to your son. Have a lovely time together.
Yesterday I pottered about the house. I made chicken stock and a curry. Dd sent me a photo of dgs1 when she picked him up from nursery. His face is covered in coloured pen. Apparently he wanted to be a pirate. The nursery staff were in stitches.
Today I have a pirate coming to stay overnight. Dd and sil are going out to a fabulous steak restaurant called Champeneys. It's a treat for DD from her husband who is partial to steaks too. I am looking forward to entertaining a wee pirate. I'll have all his toys out ready for him. He wants noodles for dinner. I'll have chicken curry again. Have a good day all.

Thinking of you today Georgesgran 💐 hope you feel better soon and can rest.

Marydoll Sat 04-Mar-23 08:00:08

Georgesgran, not an easy day for you. Be kind to yourself. 💐

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 04-Mar-23 07:59:40

Shazza, allow plenty of time for The War Rooms. DD1 and I went some years ago and we’re still engrossed as they closed for the day. We both love history.
Marydoll, your post made me chuckle.
Georgesgran, a poignant day for you. Hope you feel better soo n.
Hairdresser appointment this morning, as we are out for my birthday lunch tomorrow in a local Italian restaurant.
Thoughts are with those with worries.

brook2704 Sat 04-Mar-23 07:59:15

Morning Mick and all from a dull S Hants, no frost. Real progress gMattie, woman on a mission!
Sounds great Shazza enjoy your meal.
No real plans today, MrJ is out to finish up some leftover work, he’s pleased, down to once a week to see the nurse, not 3x.
Enjoy your day if you can 🦩🦩
I’m thinking of Megs this morning 💐

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary but dry South Yorkshire. I slept pretty well last night but this morning I’m sneezing. I managed to change my bed linen by myself yesterday so DD is more or less redundant now. It’s just about the only thing I still needed her help with - trying to wrangle a king size 13 tog quilt into a cover! Still can’t tie my shoe laces though! Did some more on the rug I’m making but it’s tedious. I’m losing my way with it a bit because it’s quite large. I have my mother’s old pegging tool but find I do better with a latch hook. I’ll have another go at it later. Must do some food shopping today and sort out the freezer.
Hope everyone has a happy Saturday and maybe some sunshine somewhere!

Good morning from a chilly, grey Colchester.
I have an empty today for the first time in ages.
The kitchen and bathroom floors will get a mop as I can guarantee nobody will walk on them while they're wet!
I'll go into the City centre for a few bits and then put a beef casserole in the oven for DHs return.
I haven't read the thread yet so will just send love and hugs to all 🦩 x

monk08 Sat 04-Mar-23 07:50:17

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Another trip to the charity shop planned and a bit of dust removal.
Friends coming later and we shall meet up with other friends at the club.
It's that time of the week again the full English is calling, will come back to read everyone's happenings later.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Mar-23 07:48:58

Morning all

It looks chilly outside ❄️🌫️

A quick pop into local butchers and Sainsbury’s local first thing, then a couple of hours pottering. We are going into Central London tonight for dinner at a Dame du Pic with DS4 and his wife. Having looked at the menu my mouth is already watering.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Georgesgran Sat 04-Mar-23 07:45:51

Good morning from Durham. I am unwell with the most horrendous cough - I can’t sleep and coughed so much yesterday that I burst a blood vessel in my eye - doesn’t hurt, but it’s not pretty.
Not a good weekend on the cards. My dear friend died yesterday afternoon, peacefully and at home and today is the 2nd anniversary of DH leaving this World.
Decorator due at 8, so once I get him started, I’ll go upstairs and try to rest. DDs want to meet up later, to ‘mark the day’.

Good morning all from chilly Harrogate. A place to get rid of bedding is a homeless refuge? Or put it on Facebook marketplace? GrandMattie you are going to be living in an empty house soon.
Yesterday finally got our TV working on the internet so DGD will be pleased. I also got the printer working but I don’t know how long for - it’s only a year old. Today I am looking after DGS just this afternoon.
Haven’t tried talking through our doorbell yet Marydoll sounds fun though.
Have the best day possible folks

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 04-Mar-23 07:43:07

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I can hear granddaughter in the next room so imagine we’ll be up soon! I think we’re going to Oxford to the museums today to look at dinosaurs. Special chicken (aka Guinea fowl) for dinner tonight. Have a good day.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 04-Mar-23 07:42:09

Marydoll that’s so funny with your doorbell. I always love your posts you always try to be upbeat despite everything. Love to little Dollie 💐

ShazzaKanazza Sat 04-Mar-23 07:37:36

Good Morning Mick and everyone from London. A dry cloudy day today for us.

Journey here on the train was seamless and our river cruise last night was lovely although only a quarter full. The meal was excellent and the jazz quartet really good.
Today we are booked into the Churchill War Rooms which we have never been to before. We will walk a lot. Tonight we have a meal booked at a restaurant called MBER on Pudding Lane which is only a five minute walk from the hotel. It is a Christmas present from my husbands sister. We tend to buy each other meal experiences and it’s Thai which we love.

Happy Birthday to your DS Mizuna 🎉

Urms 💐

Have a lovely day everyone. Enjoy family, friends and outings.
Thoughts to those struggling with illness and stress. 🌻🌻

Just noticed ... it’s actually the 4th today Mick! 😁

Thanks Urms, for reminding me to with DS2 and DIL, a happy first wedding anniversary.
