Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Annapops, thank you for the photo. So many memories of the early 60’s in that very shop.
Just read that some of the M1 round us is shut.
DGC near Charnwood Forest have been sent home and 2 in Derby have too. Meanwhile, Hertfordshire have rain.
Good morning again - got as far as the M1 and decided to come home. Now holed up at home with the snow outside. Very disappointed not to see your friends but hopefully they will stop off on their journey back to Cambridge from their flat in Chester!!
Hi again that sprinkling of snow we had has melted no so it must be above freezing out.
Kalu huge congratulations to your DGD.
Wishing her all the success in the world 🎉
Grammaretto how lucky are you having a beautiful deer in your garden.
Annapops you’ve made me really want to visit Beamish and stay in the coaching inn. It could be this year’s Christmas gift for DH for a visit next spring.
Welcome home Alygran what a holiday you’ve had. Some family members have just come back from Costa Rica and I can’t wait to see them to hear all about it and see their holiday pics.
Right must get out to the gym.
Have a good day 🌻 X
Hope you have a lovely holiday BlueSapphire I can’t remember where you’re off to but you do sound super organised! Excellent.
Its the "winter wonderland" look out there in S Yorks, Quite a lot of flakes still coming down, but the roads are open and the gritters were out overnight. Very pretty but probably difficult for local grandams with childcare as the schools will probably come home early if it keeps on snowing.
Quite poorly and exhausted so its a day in bed and the cleaner aka magician already worked wonders on half the house.
But yesterday had been to the gym and essentials in so it doesn't matter.
Lovely holiday reports coming in! Bests with appointments, and grandchildren care, and take it easy poorlies.
Good morning from a cold Sefton where there is a halfhearted attempt at snowing. The ground is wet so it's not sticking. I do prefer my snow on Christmas cards.
Feeling a lot better this morning & my cough seems to have subsided so will join OH in a quick visit to the fish man just to get out of the house. No plans for the rest of the day but will get on with my cross stitch which I have just found. Why doesn't stuff stay where it's put?!
I too remember Bob Newhart Ash, a very funny man. The sketch that always comes to mind is Sir Walter Raleigh on the phone from America. He has just discovered tobacco .... 'and you do what with it?'
Take care out there if you're out & about. Stay warm & safe.
Good morning all from a nearly white Harrogate. That trip will give you the tonic you deserve GrandMattie
I remember Bob Newhart too (shows my age)!
Yesterday we had a trip to Wetherby and found a nice little cafe for lunch. Shortly after we got home DD arrived with DGD. I was so pleased our TV was now working, but it failed yet agai n. It’s the internet in this house!
Today I have a meeting of the Respiratory group then a Sainsburies delivery, hopefully it will come in time for me to accompany DH to a hosp appointment, then this evening a zoom meeting with my sisters
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning Mick and all from a cold damp northwest coast.
Disappointing trip to local theatre production last night after making the effort to go out on a dark cold sleety night. I left in the interval after eating a Twix.
I do wish actors wouldn’t just speak quietly to each other on stage as if they were on tv. Only two seemed to get the message that there is a back row and no amplification. I was on row B so heaven knows how much they heard on the actual back row.
Housework today.
Hope your hospital trip goes well Mick and I love Bob Newhart, very clever.
Beamish sounds very interesting.
Alygran that sounds fantastic!
I was intrigued by the term 'frogging' and found this online:-

Amazing!!!
Oh, you lucky person!
Sounds an amzing trip!
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cold but then I’ve been away for 2 weeks in Central America.
It’s been an amazing time from the glossy towers of Panama City and the incredible canal to the rain forests and volcanoes of Costa Rica. I’ve seen crocodiles close up, the Quetzel bird, four kinds of monkey (including the howler who lives up to its name at daybreak) and several sloths. I even had a little swim in the Pacific Ocean. The holiday was a long time coming, postponed from last year due to Covid but worth the wait.
Today I need to go shopping and sort the mess of unpacking and washing.
Off to read all your posts.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from a miserable November type day in W Kent.
Off to art and a chat this morning, just wondering if we shall be small in number. Good luck for today Mick. Lovely pictures gM.
Marydoll you are a tough lot, I am always bemused when we are with DD1 in Perth at New Year and people are out and about in T-shirts! this now includes my DGs.
All the best to all.
Good morning all from a snowy County Durham. The valley looks pretty although I wouldn't attempt a climb up those hills today.
Yesterday we visited the museum at Beamish eager to see how the 1950's area is developing. Police Houses, plus offices and some local authority housing is just about complete. I can't wait for them opening as I know they will awaken many early childhood memories.
I photographed the ice cream parlour for you Grandmachrisy. It is part of the 1950's terrace with chip shop, hairdresser's and a reconstruction of Norman Cornish's home. He's quite a well known pitman painter from the North East.
A volunteer bus conductor told us of plans for a 1980's village in the future. That will be amazing.
You must visit again when you're back up north Shazza. You will see so many new additions. Plans for a coaching Inn to be built for overnight stays are underway. Although I live not too far away I'm definitely going to book for the experience.
Today no plans other than a trip to the hairdresser's which is in the next village. The car will remain on the drive and I'll walk over the fields instead.
Love the Kelpie photographs grandMattie. We saw them several years ago in the pouring rain. That beautiful blue sky certainly makes a difference.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning everyone from a snowy Northampton, 1°out at the moment. Hoping it is ok later as I am being picked up this afternoon to be taken to Heathrow, as my holiday begins today! It is still snowing here at the moment and we have a good couple of inches. My driver phoned yesterday to confirm pick-up time.
On-line booking opened at 10.15 last night, and never having done it before it was with some trepidation that I approached the laptop! However it was simple, and I have printed off my boarding pass. I have got a window seat. Just the baggage to drop off when I get there.
Enjoyed my pedicure yesterday morning, and my toes look presentable with a pretty gel polish. BUT it is not a patch on the pedicure I had on my cruise last summer. So my next pedicure will be on board when I go on a cruise in July!
Spent the rest of the day packing, so difficult trying to decide what to take. Had a trial weigh of the case and am well within the weight limit. A few things still to put in.
Frogging means to completely rip out a piece of knitting by removing it completely from the needles and unravelling, rather than carefully unpicking it stitch by stitch. Called frogging because 'rip-out' sounds a bit like 'rivet', the sound a frog makes. Learnt that from an on-line Facebook knitting group. (Sorry, couldn't get Italics to work).
Take care everyone if you're out and about in the snow today. The next time I post I hope to be in warmer climes....
❤️ the photo Grammaretto!
Good morning from a cold dull dry Co Armagh
We keep getting warnings about snow , I hope it passes us by !
Frogging is from ripping n knitting back rip rip rip mimics the sound a frog makes
Maw you are correct in your description of Ruritanian uniforms too 🤣
Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cold and snowing in this corner of Lancashire, currently 1°C.
Not much planned for today, I had a bad night so will take it easy.
Have a good day all.
Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it is -1C and cloudy. Precipitation is forecast though they are not committing themselves as to the form it will take.
Good luck with the travels and appointment Mick.
Yesterday's appointment with the nurse practitioner was OK but she admits to be puzzled by my symptoms, as am I. More blood gone for testing. You can give me every test and examination under the sun and find nothing wrong....theoretically, I am perfect!
I then went back to my car via M&S though I could have walked down the alley beside the store. Unlucky timing for them, outside it was absolutely freezing, inside they had their summer clothing ranges newly out....lots of shorts and thin blouses etc etc. Brrrr! Nevertheless, I added to my large collection of sweaters and t-shirts though I shouldn't have.
I also stocked up on some fresh veggies etc as Tesco aren't due till Friday evening.
Today I shall probably drive out to the garage and see about a repair to the minor damage on my car.
Marydoll, a race that can invent the kilt must be hardy! I'm thinking about the Highlands with all the cold and snow in the winter and the midges in the summer. Doesn't bear thinking about...
Do have a good day everyone.
The snow is slowly disappearing and I must go out this morning but otherwise will be nursing the cold donated last week by DD. Love the Kelpies, very impressive, maybe something for the bucket list of things to do in the British Isles. I need to plan something to look forward to but am not sure what.
Karma I take it that ‘frogging’ is unravelling? Never heard that term before. 🤔. You’ll be satisfied with your new jumper. 😉.
I thought “frogging” was that sort of curly braid trimming on jackets and coats -think Ruritanian uniforms!
