Good morning from a wet Torbay again.

Good luck with your travel arrangements and the appointment at tge JR, Mick.

Yesterday at Wednesday Club, we enjoyed an illustrated talk on Bob Newhart, a comedian, now in his 90s, most famous for his monologues on imaginary telephone conversations. Here is a clip from one of his most well known ones:-

Wishing you all a good day especially those suffering from severe weather conditions. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from s somerset, I can hear the rain battering on the windows. 2 degrees out and still 21 in the living room, stove was on yesterday, ch is off

The snow quickly turned to rain yesterday and I had an e mail that the speaker was going to be there, so I went to the group. What a lovely group it is too, such lovely welcoming people and such an interesting talk. Not at all far to walk from my house

I frogged a jumper, I spun the yarn and knitted it 10 years ago, I have only worn it once. I made it short in a moment of madness and recently found the remaining yarn. It took me a while to frog but I am now happily knitting up the same pattern but longer

Similar today, knitting, pottering. Good job I like this simple life

Good morning from a mild, rainy south Cornwall. I wish we had snow! No plans today except to varnish my newly-painted kitchen cupboards and get on with knitting a waistcoat. Then maybe a bus to the seafront to do some beachcombing.

BlueBalou Thu 09-Mar-23 06:30:24

Good morning from a snowy bit of Wiltshire, we had at least 5” of snow yesterday, well above my ankles.
It’s melted a little but everything is still very white outside.
Yesterday I had two walks with the dog, the bitterly cold wind with icy sleet was very unpleasant in the morning. There were heavy sno showers all day.
It’s lovely and warm with the wood burner lit, I happily watched Netflix for the whole afternoon 😊, with my knitting and cups of tea.
Today DH and DD are coming from Wales, along with her dog, the carpenter is starting the bookcases and it’s going to be bedlam…..
Tomorrow I’m off for a watercolour painting weekend, trying to summon up the enthusiasm for a long drive, I don’t enjoy driving at all.
Hope today goes well for you all x

grandMattie Thu 09-Mar-23 06:48:57

Goodness! I’m late…
Good morning from a snowy Bo’ness.
We had a glorious day yesterday. It was fabulously sunny and the best sort of winter’s day.
We went to Falkirk to see the famous Kelpies. They are jaw droppingly impressive. Leave the amazing engineering required, the sheer size and appearance are awe inspiring.
We spent most of the rest of the day at Stirling Castle, another very interesting time - the close up of the real “head” from the “Head Gallery” was most interesting.
In the mid-afternoon, we collected a grandchild from school and spent some of it with my hosts’ son and family.
It only started to snow around 9 pm and now we have some 5cm. We are supposed to go to Edinburgh today, to the galleries and museums, but I don’t know yet if this will happen.
Have a good day, all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning from a snow covered, at the moment, North Leicestershire village. The temperature is 0° but whatever is coming from the sky isn't proper snow.

Not a lot planned today - possibly the ironing and, definitely, a Sainsbury's delivery.

Our gardener is due to come and cut the hedge and start a planting plan for the top bed where the fence man fitted more trellising yesterday. Not sure that will happen.

Have the best day possible and stay warm everyone.

Sar53 Thu 09-Mar-23 07:06:28

Good morning from Essex by the sea. No snow but endless rain yesterday and I believe more of the same is due today.
Food shopping first thing plus dropping off a couple of bags to the charity shop. Later DH has a whole raft of blood tests. We may have lunch out too.
I hope the weather hasn't caused you all too many problems.
Have a good day and keep warm and dry xx

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 09-Mar-23 07:10:18

Morning all from a snow free West Oxfordshire. A man is coming at 8.30 am to replace the back door to the garage. That will probably take him all morning. Not sure about the rest of the day. I may pop round to a friend’s this evening as my Lent Group isn’t meeting today. Have a good day.

harrigran Thu 09-Mar-23 07:11:16

Good morning from the NE where we have a thick covering of snow and it is -1.
Yesterday I did not feel well but managed to get the shopping done. DId a covid test before going to the dentists, it was negative. She tried to x ray my jaw but my gag reflex is awful so she gave up. I don't need to be seen again until September.
Stay at home today, just sort the recycling and tidy round.
Stay safe and warm today.

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Mar-23 07:17:16

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -5° and snow covered. We have about a couple of inches. Grandmattie The Kelpies are impressive, aren't they? I'm glad you are having a good time.
Yesterday I visited my friend. There were lots of people coming in and out but we managed to get some time just us two which I appreciated.
Today I'm not sure what will happen. I was supposed to be going out for lunch to a place near Callander but I don't like driving in snow and Callander is fairly rural. I'll see what the others think. I might make bread as I'm nearly out and I don't particularly want to go to Aldi. Have a good day all

Pittcity Thu 09-Mar-23 07:19:42

Good morning from another wet, freezing day in Colchester. The kind of weather that makes you want to stay under the duvet.
As a creature of habit, Thursday is housework day. I'll change the bed and get the washing and ironing done while waiting for the postie to collect a parcel for DS, who won't be home for a few weeks.
I'll wait for a dry spot before I walk over to Aldi for a few bits. It's usually a lovely walk along the river but I expect it'll just be head down against the weather today.
I have joined the local family history society and tonight there is a Zoom meeting about DNA. So glad that we have the technology as I wouldn't want to venture out.
Love to all 🦩 x

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 09-Mar-23 07:35:15

Good morning from a cold Co Durham. We have a dusting of snow.
Waiting arrival of dgd for breakfast and school.

Had a productive day yesterday. DD2 collected me at 9.15 to go sofa shopping, by 11.00 am I had chosen and purchased two leather sofas!! One being delivered next week one in about 4 weeks time.
After the troubles we had with the sofas we bought last September which were faulty and had to be returned ( after a struggle with the company) I had put off looking, but dd1 stands no nonsense. ‘I’ll pick you up in half an hour’ 😂
I do as I’m told theses days.
The borrowed sofa will go back when the new one arrives.

GrandMattie although I’ve been to Stirling I’ve never seen the Kelpies. Another thing or my bucket list.
Hope everyone has a good day and stays warm.

cornergran Thu 09-Mar-23 07:36:06

Morning Mick, morning All from a very soggy corner of Somerset.

The wet snow of yesterday has turned into constant rain. Two positives yesterday, the fitter sorted our front door, it now opens and closes easily and a very patient technician at Halfords dealt with our stubborn dash cam. Both without cost to us. Enjoyed a long phone chat with a friend in the afternoon, we’re trying to work out how to get together, so far defeated by logistics.

Coffee morning today, it’s walking distance but I wonder how many will venture out. Another on line battle later to adjust a gift voucher given to Mr C we’re unable to use. Been told twice it has been converted into something he can use, twice the promised new voucher hasn’t arrived by email. Three times lucky I hope. Other than that little planned for today. A quiet afternoon would be sensible as we’re up very early tomorrow for a long coach day out, another of Mr C’s birthday gifts.

Pleased you’re enjoying time away grandmattie. Good to know you had time with your friend grandmab. Good luck today mick, take it steady.

Take care everyone. Stay warm and dry.

dragonfly46 Thu 09-Mar-23 07:39:50

Good morning from snowy Leicestershire.

We are supposed to be driving to Manchester today but I can’t say I am looking forward to it but don’t want to let our friends down.
We did managed to book a few days away with DS, DiL and GC for Easter which we are looking forward to.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Mar-23 07:41:29

Morning all

PittCity it is grey, cold and we are waiting the rain down this end of the A12.
The 7yr old GS slept over last night, so I need to crack on as he likes a cooked breakfast when he stays here and I of course oblige 🤣💙

Then I really must do a food shop, have been putting off since last week.

The kelpies look fabulous grandMattie good luck with your appointment Mick

Keep warm and have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

baubles Thu 09-Mar-23 07:45:28

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where we have a light dusting of frost.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday gM, great day to see the Kelpies.

We will be in Edinburgh today, perhaps our paths will cross. We’re the grandparents pushing the double buggy up the hills. smile

Work yesterday was busy as usual and although I’m working an extra day tomorrow I’ve had to refuse to do the same next week. The pain in my back is very troublesome just now so I’ve decided to be sensible and not take on too much. I didn’t go to my yarn group last night because I was done in and I do hate to miss it.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Mar-23 07:50:07

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp out. Alexa tells me it’s 0°C. We can stay home warm and cosy until 3pm when we are picking the Boy Wonder and L’l Miss up from school as their mum won’t be home until well after 7pm as she has Parents Evening where she works. As soon as their dad gets in from his work, we can skedaddle.

Hope all goes well for you today with your tests Mick and that your husband’s various bloods are okay Sar53.

NannyJan53 Thu 09-Mar-23 07:53:07

Good morning from a very white Black Country, where it settled yesterday and is still snowing now. It was so cold yesterday, a bit of a shock to the system after the relatively mild weather we have been having.

So not really sure what we will do today, our Thursday walk has been cancelled, so may try to get to the gym. It is only a 10 minute walk, but it's downhill most of the way.

Enjoy your time away grandMattie looks wonderful. You deserve it.

Ashcombe I remember Bob Newhart, especially a sketch called 'The Driving Instructor' .

ShazzaKanazza Thu 09-Mar-23 07:56:07

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It looks like we’ve had the lightest of sprinklings of snow but I’m sure it’s freezing out.

Best wishes for your appointment today Mick💐

grandMattie your picture is lovely the Kelpies are magnificent. I’m so pleased you are enjoying yourself.

Yesterday afternoon we spent some time with baby B and took her birthday gifts. She is 1 today but she’s at nursery all day. Such memories from last year when she was born at home.
Today I’m just going to the gym and later picking up GS from school. DS will stay and have a chilli before he takes him home.

Have a good day everyone stay safe on the snow. Thoughts to those struggling with illness 🌻🌻

Marydoll Thu 09-Mar-23 07:57:16

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it's currently -7°C.
No snow, but we have a yellow weather warning for snow tomorrow.
We never seem to just get a dusting, usually we find that we cannot get out for days in our area.
There were a few times in the past, when I had to walk the three miles to my school (all uphill).😇 😉
Schools rarely close here, due to snow. We are a hardy lot!

Yesterday, I used up most of my ten spoons to steam clean my range. DH's idea of cleaning it, is a quick wipe with a disinfectant wipe, but the bright sunlight, streaming through the kitchen window, highlighted every mark.
I felt quite virtuous, once I had finished, but was fit for nothing else!

In the afternoon, I managed to drive to sort out my missing prescriptions. The staff were lovely and friendly, what a change from my other pharmacy.
The problem arose, because there are so many of our family, using that pharmacy and DH had forgotten to mention he had a CD to collect.
The pharmacist commented that she had to trawl through so many surnames, which were the same
The irony is that none of DH's family were brought up here, we all gravitated to this area.
My legs, were the only problem, they felt like jelly, after having been incarcerated for so long.

I hope all goes well with your appointment, Mick.
GMBatty, I like the idea of visiting Callander, but wouldn't fancy driving on those roads. Take care!
Stirling Castle is a favourite of mine, GM, especially the medieval kitchen.
We used to take our children there and it was a favourite destination for school trips.
I hope you enjoy Edinburgh, another favourite of mine.

Planning to potter in the garden for a short spell, cold air permitting.
I have a penchant for solar lights, but noticed a few are no longer working. A cull is needed.
Also I bought a beautiful pink camillia and want to take it inside, before the snow comes.

Have a pleasant day folks. brook, I'm sure you are pleased, not to be in Inverness at the moment!

Kalu Thu 09-Mar-23 07:58:29

Good morning from Glasgow. -3, light cloud and frost and so far, sunshine.

I have a script and a coat which required a bit of altering to collect however, as I will be out tomorrow for my pneumonia vaccination, I may just leave everything for tomorrow in favour of a coory doon day.
Good news for GD1 who received an unconditional for The Royal Conservatoire, she is a very happy girl.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Marydoll Thu 09-Mar-23 08:00:25

Kalu, what wonderful news! Many congratulations to your DGD.
DI2 was a student there!

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Mar-23 08:01:15

Kalu well done to your granddaughter! Music or drama?

Taichinan Thu 09-Mar-23 08:02:31

Good morning Mick and all. It's a beautiful morning again on the Angus coast but with a bit more cloud. It's 0° - quite warm compared to some of you!
I hope your journey to the JR is uneventful Mick and the cold doesn't exacerbate your breathlessness.
Grandmattie the Kelpies are amazing, aren't they! And so lovely to see them silhouetted against a blue sky like that. Your hosts are giving you a lovely time - enjoy the change and the rest, and I hope you manage into Edinburgh today.
That's some snow you have bluebalou - you must be at quite some elevation.
Our run up country was lovely yesterday, and the hills are so beautiful under their blanket of snow.
This morning is tai chi again, my 'advanced' class (the ones who could teach me!). I love this class. I wonder what we'll learn from each other this morning?
So off I must pop. Keep cosy beside those log burners today everyone, and may all your travels be short and safe x
