Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and raining here in brackley at the present moment .
Yesterdays trip to the JR was about 10 minutes talk on having surgery done in the next month or so , but I have to build up my strength as to the heart with exercise, which recent weather has not helped.
Anyway things to pack of the Harrogate for the weekend to s hotel I told the coach travel firm about , so will see many changes as last time I stayed there between lockdowns was a very limited service .
Take Care,
Mick

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It seems a tad milder? There is a little snow on the rooftops from what must have fallen during the night but the roads and pavements are just wet. Hopefully that’s all we’re getting. I’m not a fan. I like it on Christmas cards.

Himself goes for injection No.3 out of 5 this morning. We’ve gotten into the habit of meeting downstairs in the square in Starbucks where we sit and have a lovely coffee and discuss how his appointment went. We hold hands like teenagers. I think I’m a bit needy at present.

We are babysitting tonight while our daughter and son in law come into Urmston to try a newish Lebanese restaurant here that some of their friends are raving about. If they like it, we might give it a whirl when we come back from Málaga, where, all being well, we are headed next weekend.

Good morning all from a very wet and windy Suffolk.

I’m off to London in a couple of hours for a long weekend with 4 of my school friends. We met 65 years ago as newbies at our northern girls’ grammar school and have remained friends ever since.

Our contact over those years has changed but we’ve always been in touch in 1 way or another. There was less face to face contact whilst our children were growing up but for the last 25 years or so we have had get togethers, apart from during lockdowns, 3 or 4 times a year. We all live in different parts of the country so London is a good venue for us but we have been to Edinburgh,Harrogate, York, Newcastle and to the south of France amongst other places.

However long the gap between meeting up,the years just melt away and we never tire of chatting. DH can’t imagine how we keep going for 3-4 days at a time but we always do.

Of course we all knew one another’s parents and siblings and have joined in the celebrations of the birth of grandchildren and the sadness over the deaths of all now of parents and a couple of siblings. The links between us feel like golden threads, always there if not obviously visible.

We have tickets for the new David Hockney ‘ Light’ exhibition and hope to get into the Sky Garden as all tickets have gone but they do apparently admit ticketless people on the day. Surely a group of friendly elderly women have a chance of admittance!

So I must go and pack now and am so looking forward to the joys of friendship. We last met in late November and,in spite of WhatApp and Zoom for catch ups, face to face gatherings are SO much better.

Hope you all have some joy in your weekend. I’ll catch up with you on my return on Monday.

Good morning from Glasgow. 0deg. with a light covering of snow, blue skies and sunshine.
Is your appointment with Joe S at the NV Marydoll? One of DH’s clinics, respiratory.

Pneumonia vaccination at 11.00, collect my long puffa coat, altered just in time for this weather, after which, the day is my own.

Hoping a good Friday is ahead for all.

Taichinan Fri 10-Mar-23 08:36:54

Enjoy your special weekend Liberty.

Gingster Fri 10-Mar-23 08:37:20

Enjoy your weekend*Liberty*. There’s Nothing like ‘old’‘friends ! They know you inside and out and all the memories you have made together.
I have two special friends - we started school together at the age of 5 , have grown up together, bridesmaids to each other, Godparents to each others children. We meet as often as we can. A Golden Thread indeed!

Good morning. It is snowing here in N. Bucks and settling at the moment. ‘They’ tell us it will stop by 10.
The lady who usually does shopping for MIL is I’ll so we will have to do that and take it to her
First we have DGS3 for a couple of hours.
I shall be having lunch with 3 friends so a good chat . We have known each other for over 40 years and our children grew up together.
Safe journeys if you are out and about and kind thought to all under par.

Marydoll Fri 10-Mar-23 08:40:45

Kalu, it is at NV, but I'm not sure, who its with. All a bit vague.

Greyduster Fri 10-Mar-23 08:46:50

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from the winter wonderland that is South Yorkshire. What snow we had yesterday had all but disappeared but this morning, there is seven inches of snow on the garden table, and I can’t see the wheels on my car. Okay, it’s only a Mini, but you get the picture! And it’s still snowing. So another day in for yours truly. I have enough food and drink to keep me going, so we’ll see what transpires. The sun is supposed to put in an appearance this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Annapops Fri 10-Mar-23 08:47:45

Good morning all from County Durham. Heavy snowfall during the night has created picture postcard wintry scenes both in the garden and beyond.
Today we plan to venture into the city. DH purchases bird seed there from the indoor market for his bird hide. Given the snow I'm sure those birds will be grateful.
Yesterday one knitted pudding hat completed, only 15 more to go. It wasn't as complicated as I had feared.
I love Friday's, even though I'm long since retired. Don't think that feeling will ever change now.
Anyone else late into catching up with "Happy Valley"? We only started watching series 1 a couple of days ago and wow, we're hooked. What a brilliant drama. Highly recommend to anyone else who hasn't watched it yet.
Have the best day you can everyone and stay safe and warm.

EkwaNimitee Fri 10-Mar-23 08:50:28

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. It was very cold and windy yesterday evening and, by 2am, we'd had a layer of snow. By the time I'd got up it was largely gone from the road and now the sky has cleared, the sun is out and the snow looks like disappearing fairly quickly.

When weather has prevented me from exercising outside, I have sometimes used an exercise video on Youtube...I think it's called 'Happy Walk'. It's enthusiastically American but cheerfully effective with a choice of 1,2 or 3 miles.

Today, I might go out and have a part replaced on my car...if the garage has it in and I feel the roads are OK. Other than that, I have catch up to do with the laundry and housework. I need to get my brain into gear and make a decision on my broadband contract which is coming to an end. Prices are going up unacceptably and I'm determined to make savings but it's all rather mind-boggling.
I'm hoping to re-book my holiday but I'm hanging on a bit to see when the next tranche of rail strikes are due. I do not want to drive down to Manchester airport, it's not the distance, it's the motorways I don't like. Though I could investigate going from Glasgow I guess....

Happy holidays to those on them and wishing you all a pleasant day.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend Liberty and that you all manage to gain admittance to the Sky Garden!
🤞

Good morning from a very snowy North Yorkshire. On Monday I was swimming in the Pacific Ocean in temperatures of +30degrees! Pictures of the beach at Manuel Antonio, Panama Canal, and Arsenal Volcano should appear.
Did my washing yesterday and downloaded some photos. Today it’s ironing and getting everything put away. I certainly won’t be needing summer clothes for a while.
Safe travels to anyone on the move.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Mar-23 09:07:47

As always our plans have changed, phone call from DD who has been hugging the toilet all night, The Imp has generously shared his tummy bug. DH drove down to pick up the boys (I would have walked as it is quicker this time of the day) he is now queuing outside pre-school with our little demon having dropped off his big brother first.

Not sure if living next door but one to their school is a curse or a blessing 🤣 (we are also in walking distance of the next primary school where DS’s two attend)

Enjoy your weekend in London Liberty hope you manage to get into the Sky Garden.

Mick there are numerous gentle exercise videos on UTube to get you started, much easier to exercise indoors when it’s cold outside. One of the reasons I joined the gym was I found winter walking really upset my asthma, and it avoids the car fumes, if you cannot get out to the Countryside or Coast.

MaryDoll I have been discharged so many times from the respiratory clinic it became a standing joke, fortunately I had an understanding GP who has since retired. Last year when I was really poorly I got an appointment at GP’s surgery with a locum who happened to be from the chest clinic at local hospital, she was so helpful and on got the medication I would have received if I had taken myself to A & E (which pre-Covid I would have done)

Georgesgran Fri 10-Mar-23 09:08:48

Good morning from a snowy Sutton Coldfield where we are getting ready to check out of our hotel and head to the NEC for a few hours at Crufts, before we drive back to Durham. It’s been a nice break with DD2.
Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Fri 10-Mar-23 09:12:54

GG, I wonder why respiratory clinics operate that way.
I have now discovered that I cannot use my Rescue pack, because there are contra indications with my heart meds.
It will be good to get some expert advice on this.

I hope your DD feels better soon.

dustyangel Fri 10-Mar-23 09:13:15

Good morning everyone, it’s brighter out this morning after a couple of weeks of cold, wet, miserable days. It’s felt cold even when the temperatures have risen through the day reaching 20° yesterday. So spring is definitely getting closer.

First of all, Urms I’m so very pleased that there is a straightforward solution to your husband’s illness. I know from personal experience how much better he will be feeling soon.

It doesn’t seem quite so straightforward with my own DH. I still haven’t seen the doctor with him.
This week has been a round of hospital procedures for both of us, more this morning but meanwhile DH has been prescribed different medication including iron.

I’d better get going now as we have just heard that the electrician is coming in about an hour, hopefully he’ll have finished before we have to go out.

I’ll come back and catch up later.

Kalu Fri 10-Mar-23 09:15:50

Joe Sarvesvaren is the only consultant I know at NV Marydoll He has a good team though.

Thank you those who sent congratulations to GD1’s good news.
She is champing at the bit now to get started.

hollysteers Fri 10-Mar-23 09:22:16

Good morning Mick and all from a snowy northwest coast.
Off to art soon, pastels today. I mean to draw or paint every day, but my singing comes first.
Watched Bette Davies in Little Foxes last night on my IPad cosy in bed. Realised I had seen it before, but very good.
Thoughts to anyone with worries.
Acrylic, stormy sky.

aggie Fri 10-Mar-23 09:25:04

Good morning from a bright Co Armagh , it snowed in the night and looks so pretty
Just had a call to say my friend isn’t going to the art class this am , I’m happy , I wasn’t looking forward to negotiating the frozen pavement !

Greyduster Fri 10-Mar-23 09:34:33

Great photos Alygran. Bet you wish you were still there at the moment!

Urmstongran Fri 10-Mar-23 09:41:47

No sign of kitty yet. Hope all is okay only she felt a bit ‘off’ a couple of days ago? Maybe she’ll be along soon. I used to be the Register Monitor at junior school.
🤣

Anniebach Fri 10-Mar-23 09:46:40

hulahoop Fri 10-Mar-23 10:00:30

I was meeting up with friend for lunch but we have cancelled, we are blocked in with snow ,it's supposed to brighten up later ,the children are enjoying building snowmen . There are a lot of breaks away have a good time all.

dragonfly46 Fri 10-Mar-23 10:00:39

We are still going to give it a try as it seems to be fine on the other side of the Pennines and we have known our friends for 60 years. Who knows how much longer we will around to get together.
It was so disappointing yesterday - all dressed up and nowhere to go!!
