Good morning, Sunday 12 March

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Pianist friend arriving to stay for a night and he sleeps in my son’s room who has just left, leaving it messy. I’m not bothering with it much, just leave it much the same. It’s become a dumping ground for things on hold etc.
DS did his best with tv, but he said wires have been cut and next time he will go on the roof🙄 Last night he cooked another nice meal, chicken thighs in a nice sauce. He’s also taking my boots to be heeled as in this town, Timpsons cost a fortune. He had a drink with our neighbour last night who has fitted up an amazing bar in the cellar. (Not my style ) It’s an enormous house and I’m glad I don’t have the responsibility of the upkeep. But they foster as well as having their own DC, so it’s ideal. I worry about DS and the motorbike…

I’ll probably go out for a meal with DF tonight and had to rearrange a dentist appointment as he will be here tomorrow.
Hope Mick is enjoying his break and I love your bell story Taichinan.

Good morning everyone. It’s milder here in Preston this morning 10°C, some clouds about but no snow forecast. No plans today, usual Sunday brunch of bacon rolls, hoping for a walk later but I suspect Mr.B will want me to sort out an interface on his laptop. It may take some time.

A very late good morning from a very changeable Angus coast. The sun is winning at the moment. I did a very silly thing a few minutes ago - I looked at the forecast for the next couple of weeks, and the next time we see the sun will be a week on Tuesday. Oooops. I choose not to believe it! Anyway I'm glad I've been taking opportunity to soak up the sun and take in the vit D over the last few days.
What a wonderful holiday Bluesapphire! And I'm glad you're enjoying your watercolour course bluebalou.
Karma I have a problem with getting rid of "stuff" too - for me de-cluttering equates to re-housing. Yesterday's clear out of a kitchen cupboard ended up being a tidying and making better use of space with an offending never-used old Kenwood (which I know I shall never use again and which I know nobody else would want) being relegated to the glory hole "for now".
Somebody up-thread (sorry, can't remember who now) mentioned loving the sound of church bells. That took me back to my childhood when I lived in a small town which had six churches and one pub. On a Sunday at 10.45 they all started ringing their bells, a slow regular beat and a lovely sound, and people would start emerging from their houses, all dressed in their 'Sunday Best', and head very genteelly towards their chosen place of worship. Then at 10.55 the speed of the bells increased and the latecomers would rush out and run to get to their places before the big church doors closed at 11 am prompt. I can still see it and hear it - thanks for the memory!
Lovely tales of family get-togethers today. My scattered tribe are all happily doing their own things. DS1 will be 'recovering' from watching rugby with friends and DD and New Man enjoyed an invigorating and beautiful 12-mile walk in The Trossachs yesterday. Not sure what DS2 is up to, but we'll talk later. Me? I might do a bit more re-housing decluttering 😉

Good morning from Lanzarote where today is going to be all about lounging, reading a nice book and taking it easy. Later, we may go for a stroll along the seafront. It’s nice to have a break and get away from the snow and cold. It will whizz by, that’s for sure.

Good Morning all from sunny and cloudy Harrogate, thankfully most of the snow has now gone, so Mick should be Able to have his trip to Knaresborough. We did meet up for a coffee at his hotel yesterday, he's looking forward to his surgery in the near future. There is quite a change in him since we last met. Though this morning looks almost pleasant I have decided to do church online. Mainly because there is a meeting afterwards and it's on zoom, otherwise I could be standing outside for ages waiting for buses.

Marydoll I gave up my car a few years ago because we didn't seem to need it - my biggest regret. DH now thinks the main car is his car and he got very possessive of it during lockdown and I went off driving because of his attitude, so hang on in there with your car (big or small).

Good morning all from a bright, windy day in Glasgow. We are either in for rain or snow!

Still feeling a bit wabbit and the injection site is throbbing. A bit of an inconvenience but I am grateful to have this vaccination.
And so, onwards and sideways with a restful day again. I watched the TV series Billions yesterday, even with subtitles I couldn’t keep up with parts of it. DH has Fall on our to watch list. I am terrified of heights so he will be watching it alone!

Your day with your family sounds perfect Georgesgran. As you say, time flies by and we are making the most of seeing our girls before GD1 leaves for university later this year. No more days of popping in after school. 😥

Family left almost straight after dinner last night as the weather forecast was poor and GD1 had stayed at home to get on with college work.
SIL arrived in Brussels without delays but had great difficulty getting a taxi from the station due to strikes.
I have a Sunday to myself, first time for a very long time.

Good morning from North Connel (over the bridge for those who know the area). I thought I would have plenty time to post from here but between children, dogs and visits from the other grandparents, the time has flown.
At the moment I’m waiting for DGD to be picked up, she is 12 and spends Sundays helping out at the riding stables where she has her lessons. She is just as happy mucking out etc as she is actually riding and gets up easily and early on a Sunday, tomorrow will be different!

Not a lot of snow for DD and SiL but they are managing to do some skiing and having a good break together.

I have managed to read and was delighted Kalu to see that your DGD got an unconditional offer, such a good moment.

Online mass for me too this morning Marydoll, nearest church is in Oban and I don’t drive up anymore so no transport.

I’m having such a lovely time with these two, they are great fun and no bother, a really happy few days.

Good morning to all GNs and Michael in absentia. It’s chilly and overcast in South Yorkshire but most of the snow has gone. Last night though it was coming down again in big fluffy flakes. Hurrah! I can get out for a some fresh air later. I thought I would see if I could get my walking shoes done up yesterday. Not a chance, so it’s still paved walks for the time being. Bending to do the laces is still too painful. I‘ll keep working at it. Salmon for dinner with vegetable cous cous.
Marydoll. My DH was always trying to get me to drive the big fancy hybrid with no gears that was his baby, but I wouldn’t! When I did, I couldn’t believe what a joy it was! Keep working on him!

Just to say I bought some elastic laces for DH last year after his hip op, as he found it difficult to tie laces. They were very successful, and he’s carried on using them. He’s off hill walking this morning! I got the laces from a local shoe shop (only about £4), but otherwise you can get them online.

I had a beautiful bowl delivered from John Lewis. It was smashed to pieces. I took a photo and emailed it to them. They swiftly sent another bowl which was intact.

Good morning from a much brighter County Durham. The snow seems to be rapidly thawing so fingers crossed I can do some garden tidying next week.
We took the trip to Ushaw yesterday and as it is higher up the valley it was still inches deep in snow. You must pop in for a browse Grandmachrissy. The rhododendrons are stunning when they blossom. The cafe which used to be in the huge refectory is now cosy and warm in a smaller space, with a steady flow of customers. Ushaw provided such a safe haven for my family during lock down. The grounds were still kept open and we were able to meet up for socially distanced walks......(remember those?)
A run on the treadmill later, then some washing to be done, and that's my day.

We had a lovely day yesterday with DS and children, although we see them every week, the afternoon is taken up with collecting and dropping off and they rarely come to ours.

A quiet day ahead, I must crack on with my crochet bunting.

Yesterday I paid a visit to the garden centre. I have vacancies for a few small things and need replacements for those that have not survived last December's week of sub-zero temperatures. The centre is still busy getting all the new spring stock in so I didn't want to rush to buy all I needed or I will be sorry when new temptations arrive.
Then home to a relatively lazy day of book reading and phone chats. I also managed to mostly sort out the non-streaming on the smart tv. It's all go except for ITV X which was the one I really wanted to watch. I gather it has been problematical. More work needed.
Today could be much the same but, if the weather isn't off-putting, I'd like to get outside and start planting my new purchases.
