Forgot to add, the double vision is only a problem when reading or looking at things close to now. The clinic advised wearing an eye patch if it becomes troublesome but I’m managing by resting it every now and then. I’m also doing the ‘thumbnail’ exercise. It’s similar to the Pencil Push-up test, where you move a pencil towards your nose while focusing on the pencil point. It’s reminiscent of the early days of brain rehab.

Good afternoon all. It’s a lovely sunny day here after a cold and frosty start. I have one washer load outside and a second lot in the machine. I have swept, dusted and vacuumed one flight of stairs. The vacuum needs recharging now so will have to do the other flight tomorrow. My back is complaining so I am having a rest while waiting for the washer to finish. Mr.B has supplied a strawberry sponge cake, please dig in 😊

soop and ann sending my best wishes your way. Hope all our poorlies feel better soon.

annsixty Tue 25-Apr-23 11:46:10

A late Good Morning to you all.
Thankyou for your kind words to me and to everyone not on top of their game.
I hope Grandmabatty is feeling slightly (or a lot) better today.
Sadly unless my family life changes dramatically, which is not likely, I will not be feeling differently to my present mood.

I am waiting for a lawn care company to come to give me an estimate for sorting out my very overgrown, weed ridden grass.
I can’t yet give them the title of lawns.

It is very sunny but surprisingly cold here.
I hope you all have the best day you can.

brook2704 Tue 25-Apr-23 10:41:23

Hi everyone, I’m paying an early visit to the kitchen today as I’m going to be busy later with DGD. I’ve put the kettle on and there’s tea and toast for anyone wanting a 10 minute break
It’s still very cold here but at least the sun is shining. I’m going to wrap up warm and have a look in the garden soon to see what new frost damage we have 😞
Hoping soop and grandmabatty are both feeling a bit better and hoping your double vision goes away soon Blossoming
Wishing your DD a Happy 30th Birthday for later this week GG13, my youngest will be 40 later this year - makes me feel really really old!..

A late Good evening, lovely Kitchen people.

Poor Soop, Annsixty, Blossoming and Grandmabatty, I do hope things improve soon for each of you. 💕💕💕💕

No luck today then , YiaYia, fingers crossed for tomorrow. 🤞

Good luck for your quiz, Jaxjacky. It's been very cold here today, frost forecast overnight. I've just lifted my wee fuschia and geranium plants into the kitchen, they'll not survive a night on the patio.

Hello 👋 Gillgran, you are very welcome to join us in Soop's friendly kitchen!

Nannytopsy, enjoy your visitors!

SueD, I think I'll follow your example and bring my wool coat back out of the wardrobe for tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that your son is doing well, I'm sure they'll enjoy their Coronation parcel!

Hope your DH is soon home safe, GG13.

Brook, you are brave and hardy, going to the pool on a snowy day!

Thank you to all who admired the hanging baskets and topper, they certainly were eye catching.

TOYA, NNGB.

brook2704 Mon 24-Apr-23 21:39:45

Hope you’re feeling much better soon gbatty, poor you 😞
Another miserable day here weather wise, we even had snow flurries this afternoon. I went to the Zumba class at the gym and then a dip in the pool, but not much else done today
Hope the roses do well SueD, I’ve only got one, it seems to survive our winters well and flowers every year 🌹

cornergran Mon 24-Apr-23 21:31:40

Hope tomorrow finds you all better grandmab. That’s not fun.

Good luck with the hunt yia, you only need one to be right, it’s out there.

Roses are the most forgiving of plants, they also give a lot sued. We have two climbers and several in planters. Have always grown them. There are thornless varieties if you worry for small hands.

Goodnight everyone, sleep well.

Yiayia4 Mon 24-Apr-23 20:48:42

That’s horrible Grandmabatty, rest up and get well soon.🌹

GrannyGravy13 Mon 24-Apr-23 20:27:32

Evening folks

It’s raining and chilly, where is spring?

Sorry soop and others are under the weather, Grandmabatty our beloved GC do like to overshare, hope you feel better soon.

DH is out and the house feels empty, it doesn’t normally bother me but somehow tonight feels odd.

DD (our youngest) is 30 this week, I cannot believe those years have passed in the blink of an eye, added to the fact that I finally get my state pension this year, I must be getting old. The AC & GC have already spent the first year of it, before I have even received it🤣🤣

Nightie Night dear friends 😘

SueDonim Mon 24-Apr-23 20:15:33

Oh Grandmabatty, you poor thing. sad I hope the worst is past now and you get some sleep tonight. flowers

Soop, Annsixty and Blossoming I hope you all feel brighter very soon.

Yia urgh, house hunting. 🙄. The right house must be out there somewhere!

I love the baskets and topper, Cornergran! There are some clever folk about.

It’s been chilly here today, as well. The thermometer said 10deg but the wind made it feel Baltic and I had my big coat on again. The rain mainly held off, just a few showers. Our central heating came on mid-afternoon, though, and it’s to be minus 2 deg tonight.

We’ve just had a couple of days pottering around. I sent a coronation care package to my son the US today, t-shirts and some memorabilia so they can mark the day as well. grin I ordered some roses last night for my new garden. I’ve not grown roses before and I feel as nervous about caring for them as I would a new baby! 😂 I went for climbing ones as then they’ll be out of the way of the small people and will also disguise a boring fence. That’s the plan, anyway.

Have a good evening. Xxx

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Apr-23 19:19:31

Just a quick hello as I've got sickness and diarrhea from dgs1 and I've been in bed most of the day. I feel awful. Hopefully I'll improve tomorrow

Yiayia4 Mon 24-Apr-23 18:13:26

Evening Kitcheners.Thinking of you Soop and Annsixty and hope your a little better today.💐💐Also Blossoming💐
Well dear Kitcheners the hunt continues. On Friday we viewed a bungalow the speck looked good.! On entering the estate agent began unlocking every door, all rooms were rented! The smell was awful, you really couldn’t make it up.😂Then a penthouse flat on 5th floor. The lift was trashed so didn’t bother to look.My anxiety at the moment is sky high,I’m having a large wine and then maybe another.😃We have more viewings tomorrow so you never know.🤞🤞
Good news of your son SueD must make you feel better.
Have a good evening all.

Nannytopsy Mon 24-Apr-23 18:10:07

Suffolk is dry but there’s a cold wind about. We are promised a frost tonight - oh joy! - but there’s also the promise of the Northern Lights.
We have changed beds, washed towels etc in preparation for an old friend visiting tomorrow for a couple of days.
Mr Tesco delivered supplies so now we just need to start cooking.
I hope soop, Ann & blossoming are all improving . Are you still waiting for phonecalls soop? I do hope you have heard.
Keep warm everyone!

Blossoming Mon 24-Apr-23 17:56:11

Of course you can Gillgran, always welcome here.

Jax we’ve had similar weather here, it’s supposed to improve towards the end of the week.

My vision is settling, there’s still an impressive bruise on the eyeball but the swelling has gone. I bruise easily unfortunately, some of us just do. I’m often asked if I’m sure I’m not on blood thinners!

Mr.B has promised corned beef hash for tea, not had it for ages but it seems to suit the weather.

gillgran Mon 24-Apr-23 16:56:19

Please may I join the group hug. I've not posted here for a while, but I do try to read & keep up with you all.

I send warm wishes to Soop & to annsixty, I hope you soon feel a little better. flowers flowers

Greetings to all in this kind & friendly kitchen.

Jaxjacky Mon 24-Apr-23 16:05:29

I hope anne and soop are having a better day.
Take care Blossoming and fingers crossed your eyes improve speedy quick.
After the grandchildren left yesterday I tidied up, went for a walk, then watched football.
Today I’m on the voluntary phone, not a day to go out, storms, heavy rain and hail. Quiz tonight, it’s supposed to be near freezing by midnight, thermals back on.
Enjoy the rest of your day all.

Blossoming Mon 24-Apr-23 15:44:09

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. I’m doing my best to keep up but am struggling with double vision and tiredness. I was warned about this, it should settle soon. Sorry to hear Soop and Ann are exhausted, look after yourselves ladies. Hope all our poorlies are soon on the mend. TOYA ❤️

soop Mon 24-Apr-23 12:57:37

My love to all you lovely people. You are wonderfully supportive. Our kitchen continues to share kindness and patience in abundance. A huge group hug. X

cornergran Sun 23-Apr-23 20:25:11

Sorry to hear you’re struggling with exhaustion soop and ann. A hug on its way to you both. I think sometimes we just need to listen to our bodies, if they say rest then rest is what we should do.

The hospital gym classes were shall we say interesting brook. Most folk were like me and hadn’t a clue. We did all try to cooperate. Helpful? Probably not although I did learn I’m not good at catching a large, heavy ball when stood on one leg. grin.

It’s not quiet in your house ladylfl. So much to enjoy. Hope your grandson is recovered grandmabatty and hasn’t generously shared with you. Those baskets and toppers are so colourful granmarie, some creative people out there. Pleased you enjoyed your break.

The covid jab system declared I didn’t exist yesterday. A persistent HCA didn’t abandon me, she tried everything she could. In the end I remembered if I could get into the NHS app on my phone I could find my NHS number. After much muttering and fumbling it worked and I was duly boosted. Mr C had no such problem, name and date of birth and up popped his records. How unfair was that? In any case pleased to report other than the obligatory sore arm we have not an adverse reaction between us.

Been a nothing sort of a day today. Had fun emailing a friend, did some necessary if boring things then spent a lot of time reading, often through closed eyelids. Pouring with rain again now I’ve a date with a glass of cold white.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

brook2704 Sun 23-Apr-23 20:16:41

Such a lot of hard work that’s gone into those baskets and topper grannmarie and so nice that they’re on show for all to see!
Sounds like you’ve had a lovely time away too

Grannmarie Sun 23-Apr-23 19:39:11

Annsixty, 👋.
I'm sorry to hear how you are feeling. Is it worth asking your GP about a good, old fashioned tonic? Something like Virol to boost your iron and energy levels? They seem to have gone out of fashion.
For you 💐💕🙏

Grannmarie Sun 23-Apr-23 19:33:26

Oops..

Grannmarie Sun 23-Apr-23 19:32:50

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

I'm very sorry to read that you are still under the weather, Soop, I hope things improve for you very soon. Rest and recover.

Grandmabatty, what a shame, I hope your DGS1 recovers quickly and doesn't pass it on to you. Poor wee boy.👦

LLL, I hope you have a wonderful pre birthday celebration with your reunited family. Enjoy all the exciting foods, made with much love for you.

SueD, so good to hear uplifting news about your DS, at last things are improving for him.

Brook and Jaxjacky, sounds like you've had a great time with the grandchildren. Well done, Imogen, good for her, and her lovely Mum!

Cornergran, I hope you and MrC are having a nice restful evening after your Covid boosters.

We are home again after our enjoyable wee break. Today, we joined my sisters, brother and cousins (on our Dad's side) for lunch in our local Chinese restaurant. Its nice to keep in touch. So we've been eating out since Friday, time to return to ' auld claes and porridge ' or nothing will fit me!

On our homeward drive yesterday we stopped for lunch in a wee seaside town we used to visit regularly. I was fascinated by their eye catching hanging baskets and pillar box topper! See what you think?

Enjoy Sunday evening, TOYA.

brook2704 Sun 23-Apr-23 17:37:06

annsixty so sorry to hear how you’re feeling, sending you some 💐 and a gentle hug ❤️

annsixty Sun 23-Apr-23 17:11:29

Soop commiserations and empathy to you .
I have been feeling exactly the same for weeks now.
So tired I feel “ fit for nothing”
My friend was going to John Lewis on Friday and asked if I wanted to go along.
After a bite to eat in the restaurant I was too exhausted to do anything else.
I went and sat on the “for sale” garden furniture whilst she did her shopping, my legs would not carry me.
I hope you soon feel better, I don’t have much hope for myself, living on borrowed time and all that jazz.
Very, very depressing.
