Such a lovely idea for a group hug, always so special with good kitchen pals
We’ve just arrived at DD2s house for a bite to eat and an evening of board / card games with the DGC … wish me luck! 😂

Good evening all, so many busy doings in the kitchen tonight. We ended up having a late night, watching a very interesting documentary series about The Reconquista. It’s a Patreon channel, we watch no terrestrial TV nowadays, Consequently we’ve done very little today and not feeling the slightest bit of guilt 😂

It’s a Wild West themed weekend at the railway museum so we’ll probably stroll around there tomorrow.

Have a restful night all ❤️

Wishing all our Kitcheners a relaxing Sunday. We expect visitors to pop in this afternoon. In-between time, I shall read the newspaper and watch a game or four of snooker. Keeps me out of trouble. wink

A slightly damp day. There are signs that the cloud may thin and we shall enjoy a brighter afternoon.

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Apr-23 14:16:12

Afternoon all, it just gained and it’s a lot cooler today at 14, yesterday was glorious. Both of our new mobiles are now up to date with data transferred from the old ones. A bit of a lounging day, football, crosswords, whole chicken is in the slow cooker.
Hope your board game evening went well brook.
Enjoy the trains Blossoming is your vision improved today?
Kettle has boiled, time for my mug of tea.

Same here, don’t get much time for myself and enjoy watching snooker, may get a snooze in as well.
Would it be a nice idea to say what kitcheners will be doing next weekend (Coronation) all this week, and what foody things they’ll be serving? I could do with a few ideas.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Apr-23 14:32:29

Afternoon kitcheners. I'm leaving a few things in the kitchen today. Cheese and paprika scones, fruit scones, roast chicken, chicken and rice soup and chocolate chip buns. I decided to replenish the cupboards and the fridge. I have some homemade chicken stock left too. Enjoy your afternoon

brook2704 Sun 30-Apr-23 14:34:48

A showery day here in Inverness, I’ve been in and out of the garden dodging the showers but I think I might have to give up and have a lazy afternoon The grass desperately needs a cut but it’s too wet so will have to wait….
Enjoy your visitors soop and if the sun comes out please send it up here
Hope the Wild West weekend is going well Blossoming, sounds fun
We had a lovely evening yesterday thank you Jax, DGS won the Ticket to Ride game and was thrilled, SiL won the SkyJo game as usual. A late night for the DGC and almost midnight before we were home. Hope you’re finding your way around the new mobile, always good to have a new phone and everything transferred over ok!

Afternoon everybody.Hope your feeling a bit better Soop.

A very sad day for us.Our dear friend passed away this morning.😔
She was the strongest bravest lady I’ve ever had the privilege to know. She suffered MS for many years then, five years ago had a massive stroke.Sadly she succumbed to covid a few weeks ago and never recovered.

Viewing the apartment with garden again on Tuesday. Will keep you posted.
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

brook2704 Sun 30-Apr-23 14:43:32

So sorry to hear that sad news Yia, sending condolences to you and her family , take care x

dustyangel Sun 30-Apr-23 15:08:28

My condolences to you Yia, very sorry to hear your news.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Apr-23 15:30:16

Yiayia I'm really sorry to hear that. My condolences. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for the garden flat. Brook there's been a fine rain here all day so no outside work for me.

brook2704 Sun 30-Apr-23 17:59:01

Sounds like you’ve been very busy cooking grandmabatty, thanks for all the yummy treats delivered to the kitchen - I wish I could make scones that actually rise, mine are always very flat 🤣

SueDonim Sun 30-Apr-23 18:03:34

That’s very sad, Yia. I’m so sorry. flowers

Another rainy day here although the sun is struggling through now it’s almost bedtime. I planned to do things around the house but instead I went and bought compost and containers for my roses.

Oreo asked about next weekend. Truth to tell, I’m not that interested in the monarchy now the queen is no longer with us. The coronation is the first of my lifetime so I will watch it for that reason and also in the hope that there’ll be some nice fashions to look at (sorry for being shallow).

My dd is going to come round with the GC so I’ve outsourced the catering to M&S and have placed an order with them for party food and will pick up some other bits and pieces when I collect that. Hopefully the GC can run riot in the garden while we watch tv. grin

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Enjoy your visitors, Soop, I'm so glad you've returned to us!💕

I spent a depressing hour this afternoon, trying on summer clothes from last year in preparation for packing for our upcoming Spanish holiday. Well I think several have shrunk in the wardrobe,🤣 they are now in a charity bag , so my holiday ensembles are sadly depleted.... I really have struggled with my weight, especially since lockdown and recent health issues.

YiaYia, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear friend. Condolences to you and her family. 💐🙏
I hope things go well for you on Tuesday. 🤞

Good to hear that our poorly people are on the mend. Grandmabatty, you've certainly bounced back with renewed energy, thank you for all the tasty treats. Blossoming, I hope your eye is much better now and you enjoyed your steam train weekend.
Thinking of Annsixty💐
Sounds like the perfect rainy Sunday afternoon, Jaxjacky ! Its been cold and wet here all weekend.
Hello 👋 Dusty, hope you and MrD are doing well.

Brook, your family games night sounds like great fun, what a good idea! We used to enjoy Trivial Pursuit nights at my sisters many years ago.

👋 Hello, Oreo, we're having a small family gathering next weekend for DH's birthday. We'll have a buffet in the dining room and a soup station in the kitchen, then cake and fizz. I'm a bit like SueD in relation to the monarchy, I had great respect for the late Queen. I do enjoy watching the historical aspects, so I'll have TV on before our visitors arrive.

Chicken curry for dinner, wishing you all a relaxing Sunday evening. TOYA

annsixty Sun 30-Apr-23 19:09:04

Good evening all.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, it really does help.
I don’t really feel much better, I am trying not to be be too pessimistic but….
I haven’t really felt my age before but it is weighing heavily on me just now.
My GD has gone away for a week today with two girlfriends.
They have gone to Marbella, the hotel looks lovely and they have a super room overlooking the pool.
In their different ways they all have problematic lives and I hope they get to relax and enjoy themselves.
My S is living here but is off work with depression and anxiety, I doubt I will see him more than five minutes every couple of days but I know he is dealing with his own demons.
Well what a cheery post, not, !!

At least I have made progress in the garden dept.
The lawn care company came last week and mowed the lawns, came the day after to scarify, next visit is Tuesday to apply weed and feed and then two weekly mowing.
They will do treatments as and when, a huge load off my mind.
I hope to get them or someone else to sort the borders out they are fairly low maintenance but I can’t do them.

It has rained today, I hope for a better day tomorrow when my GD’s friend is coming to take me to Castleton and we have booked lunch in a pub.
If I am up to it we shall have a walk round the lovely village, it was a real favourite of my H and I.
I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday tomorrow and next weekend.

hulahoop Sun 30-Apr-23 20:01:12

Thank you Grandmabatty . Yia sorry to hear sad news about your friend. It's been a miserable day here rained on and off all day . Annsixty hope you start feeling better soon.*Soop*soon glad to see you have appointment . Best wishes to all.

brook2704 Sun 30-Apr-23 20:17:05

I remember going to Castleton many years ago Ann, I always enjoyed a day out there , it’s beautiful scenery so I hope the sun shines for you. I think I remember a little cafe on a corner overlooking the river that runs through the village, we always used to go in there - happy memories thank you

Hi to Oreo, I don’t think I’ll be doing much next weekend, tbh it’s a bit of a non event up here. I’m not aware of any celebrations except at the DGCs school there having a school disco on Thursday and everyone is to wear red, white and blue on Friday. I could get a few treats in to share with DH and I might even get my best Cath Kidston afternoon tea set out 🤣 Good idea to let M&S take care of it all SueD I might pop in and see what they’ve got

Lots of clothes shrink in the wardrobe grannmarie, not sure how it happens but it definitely does. I hope you get some lovely new outfits that you’ll enjoy wearing on your holidays 😎

cornergran Sun 30-Apr-23 20:29:24

Sad news about your friend yaia It’s hard when people we love are no longer in our lives. 🤞 for your define viewing.

I’m sorry the world seems such a difficult place ann. Can you arrange to spend some more time with a friend? Some distraction might help. flowers.

An abject failure with scones here. Many thanks grandmab, still hoping you can send some of your energy. Second day of sandcastles and feeding folk has worn me out.

Shrinking-in-the-wardrobe syndrome is well known to many granmarie, I certainly suffer from it. So hard to lose weight. I’m definitely with you.

Time to elevate feet here and you never know, a glass of chilled white just might appear.

Take care everyone.

Grannmarie Sun 30-Apr-23 20:29:48

Thank you, Brook. 🥰

Grannmarie Sun 30-Apr-23 20:31:22

Thank you, Cornergran, enjoy your chilled white, my favourite tipple too.🥰

Blossoming Mon 01-May-23 15:03:37

Beltane greetings dear Kitcheners.

We didn’t get the relaxed Sunday we expected as just after I posted on Saturday night I had a fall. It wasn’t a particularly bad fall, I ended up sat on a pile of laundry I’d sorted. However, I caught my dodgy foot on a radiator and I’ve broken my little toe. You couldn’t make it up. We have managed to get outside and wave at some trains, it’s a lovely mild day here with just enough cloud to stop my eyes from being dazzled.

Sending you all best wishes and a group hug.

Grannmarie Mon 01-May-23 15:13:51

Aw, Blossoming, what a shame! A broken toe is a painful thing, can you strap your wee toe to its neighbour to splint it ? That's what I was advised to do when I broke a toe many years ago. Then elevate, with lots of ice cubes in a tea towel/ bag of frozen peas.
Hope it heals soon. Take care 💕

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. I hope you are enjoying your Bank Holiday. We had a nice sunny spell, I hung out two loads of washing then spent a nice hour planting fuschia, primula and trailing geraniums in my tubs. It's clouded over now but I feel the benefit of a wee while in the fresh air.

TOYA

Blossoming Mon 01-May-23 15:19:54

It’s not too bad Grannmarie, this is one time I’m grateful that I have little feeling in that toe! grin. I did say a few strong words when it happened though.

Grandmabatty Mon 01-May-23 15:52:01

Blossoming ouch! Definitely try a splint. Grannmarie the sunshine didn't last long here unfortunately. I'm having a lazy day as it's back to childcare tomorrow
