Did Kate Forbes seriously expect the finance brief? After the vicious personal attacks during the campaign? Chickens coming home to roost.

But I agree, this all looks like a bit of a mess. I don't doubt that, despite the circumstantial nit-picking, Humza is a capable leader but he doesn't have the charisma of his predecessor. The post-referendum SNP has always been an uneasy alliance brought together to further the cause of independence but it's looking very fragile now.

The Scottish government is held to higher standards than anybody else.

Even when a PRINCE2 Practitioner (that's me ) tells you that a project is a shining example of how project management should be done, even though it comes in well under budget and within target date, even though it has spectacularly met its objectives, all some people see is "Scotland baaaad".

If people keep talking down the good things, maybe I can understand where the "Scottish cringe" came from.
