The SNP is in a ‘tremendous mess’ apparently.

Since these two stepped down within weeks of one another the SNP seems to be imploding at a rate of knots.

What on Earth is going on? There is so much in-flighting.

Why is this thread in 'chat'?

So that everyone can join in, whether they know the first thing about politics or not?

Kandinsky see how popular Micky Mouse is

When did you last see a Micky Mouse cartoon? The cameo in Fantasia doesn't count.

I'm not challenging you, I'm just asking since I'm sure I've never seen one since I was very small indeed.

volver3 Tue 28-Mar-23 12:39:41

Most Tories are in the borders or the North East.

The Borderers often that think they're really English anyway and the North East because they think the Tories will look after their fishing boats and farms.

I'm a Buchan quine, so I know the North East mind.

Could it be that Edinburgh is not really representative of the rest of Scotland, in many ways. Just like Paris or London are not either.

Rather less than half Volver!

Aye, just the 48% at the last GE.

Didn’t you know Aveline is Scottish? Oh dear.

I think multicolourswapshop was talking about the Scottish Tories!

Thanks volver3 I am not really concentrating on GN and the moment, real life is getting in the way 🤣🤣

volver3 Tue 28-Mar-23 09:38:30

You haven't GG13 I don't expect you would. As you know, I don't approve of the current crop of Tories but that doesn't mean I disrespect them all and all the people who vote for them.

My point is that "some posters" (!) think it's OK to say they disrespect everybody who supports the SNP.

Who's the divisive one, I wonder...the SNP or those who disrespect half their fellow countrymen?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Mar-23 09:24:10

volver3

I'm more concerned with the lack of respect for any of its supporters. So no respect for half your countrymen? How odd

Not sure what your point is?

Where have I disrespected any supporters of any political party volver3 ?

respect for a political party sorry volver3 but that did make me laugh

There might be lots of respects posted on GN but very very few for any political party in the U.K…

Aveline Tue 28-Mar-23 08:52:22

😂😂😂 Volver laugh a minute with you eh?!

volver3 Tue 28-Mar-23 08:37:27

I have good reason to have absolutely no respect for SNP or it's members.
Electing Humza must go down in history as a spectacular own goal by them. The 'continuity candidate' for a party its own CE said was in a 'tremendous mess'.
Paddyann remind me - how many times has the Queensferry crossing had to be closed due to faults they hadn't considered?

I'd love somebody to explain to me why a lot of indignant fluttering went on on another thread when we had a discussion about lack of respect for people's childlike faith, but posters here can say they don't respect a particular political party and its supporters and nobody bats an eyelid.

It's just double standards isn't it?

Anyway. Those hoping there'll be no more talk of Independence, from a party whose raison d'etre is independence. You really don't know much about Scotland at all do you? Don't rely on the Unionists that post here. You'll be disappointed.

Oreo Mon 27-Mar-23 22:11:41

Well, Humza can’t do worse than Sturgeon, there is that.
If the SNP put in as much effort in running Scotland really well, as they do going on about independence and another referendum it would be a good start.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Mar-23 21:54:57

Oh dear!
No, I don't and my Scottish friends are the ones who've emigrated!

Aveline Mon 27-Mar-23 20:06:20

Callistemon it's obvious you don't live in Scotland or you'd never say such a thing.

Hamza won 52% to 48%

Unfortunate figures.

Will Scotland or the SNP ever unite behind the 52%?

The fraudulent EU referendum of 2016 resulted in 52% to 48% and, quite apart from the fact that the majority has been in the other direction ever since, the UK is still strongly divided.

Not a good omen for the SNP.

Yes, very close but it's not exactly on the scale of importance as the EU referendum.

Leaders come and leaders go.

MawtheMerrier Mon 27-Mar-23 19:52:19

So that's done and dusted, and the backbiting amongst them will now stop, won't it? I adopt the attitude that the proof will be in the pudding

No, but if you hum a few bars ….🎶🎶🎶🎶

Wow, just checked it, Raspberries, cream and whisky, - what's not to like?
She does look cheeky though.
Yes, might be an interesting situation.
Does Humza ever wear a kilt by the way? I'm always interested in the person behind the facade and happy to give anyone a fair chance.

So that's done and dusted, and the backbiting amongst them will now stop, won't it? I adopt the attitude that the proof will be in the pudding. (Do Scottish people have a special dessert?)

Anyway, on a different matter, I did have to smile at his cute little daughter pulling monkey faces and sticking her tongue out at her dad? Especially as a few on here were very critical of Prince Louis doing similar at the Jubilee. I think we read something like they were disgusted that the royals couldn't raise children who could be relied on in public to behave in a sensible fashion.
So, before Humza (and others) starts laying into King Charles, maybe he too should put his own house in order?

The dessert is cranachan. Yum.

I objected to Louis raising his hand to his mother and I'd object again.

Did you know that Humza's a Republican?
