We’ve paid them abroad for years, sometimes in big cities, sometimes in rural villas or gîtes. Now they’re planning tourist tax for the Lake District.
I don’t see it as a problem. How would you feel?

There's talk of a tourist tax for Edinburgh. We most certainly need a contribution to our infrastructure during the tourist season(s). The buses are packed so locals struggle to get to work. Litter is everywhere and the city looks a mess. Only £2 a night has been mentioned but could make a difference.
I've happily paid tourist tax in other countries.

No objection at all. Tourists should contribute directly to main services like waste, water, etc.

Good idea.

I thought the money was usually invested to fund the local tourist industry, like producing local brochures and maps aimed at attracting visitors? I think it should be used for local tourist attractions such as parks, gardens, museums etc. which will also be of benefit to the local people. I'd happily pay it, but I am realistic that it won't go far.

I think it’s a good idea.
We pay it abroad and the beaches are kept lovely and clean, litter bins emptied regularly etc
