Ultracrepedarium
Ignorant yet acting as if knowledgable!
I love this word because so many people I encounter seem to act like the above.

Favourite much used word is "ludicrous". It's applicable to a lot of what goes on nowadays.

Cherish. The word and its meaning are beautiful.

Gloaming, gives me a feeling of warmth, peace and happiness, as does the gloaming itself.

My grandson out of the blue this morning asked me if I know what Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis means. He seems to have forgotten that when he learnt it in year 2 he said it at every opportunity and we all know the meaning but no-one says it as confidently as he can.

However ‘flummoxed’ is my favourite at the moment..

paddyann54 Mon 03-Apr-23 12:55:02

I love the word kerfuffle & heebeegeebees. I tell my teen dgd that she's being pedantic & she loves that word. There's an ITV journalist called Nina Nannar & I absolutely love her name.

Currently, it's apricate, recently learned, it means to bask in the sun, something I'm trying to do in the infrequent glimpses of sunshine we are having at the moment.

stewaris Mon 03-Apr-23 12:36:58

Oldbat1 just love scunnered. It's a great word.

Witzend Mon 03-Apr-23 12:35:27

shysal

My current favourites are Hurtigruten and the the name of Artist of the Year judge Tai-Shan Schierenberg. Some days one or the other goes round and round in my head, which can be quite annoying!

I’m pleased finally to see Hurtigruten written down - I must have heard it hundreds of times on Classic FM ads - I’ve often wondered how it was spelt. I will admit that I started to find the ads very irritating though - I do like Joanna Lumley but her super-breathy voice was getting on my nerves!

Actually: especially when spoken with a Welsh accent
