Feeling really happy today

Today I got all my bed linen dried in glorious sunshine, smells so fresh, and the spaniel and I had a rain free walk for two hours in the woods, she did flush out a couple of pheasants, but they soared away over her head free to fight another day/spaniel!
So I’m asking, hoping something has made you happy?

We are at the static and doing gardening/washing down the van and cleaning all of the windows.
It`s lovely sunny day and we can hear people laughing.
Oh the joys of sunshine.

Ginny - those Easter items look terrific, especially the colourful crafted eggs!

Kalu Tue 04-Apr-23 13:37:52

Lovely surprise as GD2 is here spending the day with us and staying over tonight.
We too are doing some easter craftwork…..stealing ginny’s fabric covered eggs idea and working on GD’s latest ‘thing’, wreath making to mark special occasions. Hasn’t looked at her iPad once! 😂

Commiserations Foxygloves. Happens to the best of us but the hassle and inconvenience is a pain in the derrière. 😥

What makes me happy is knowing my family are happy! and waking up to glorious sunshine as I’m going out on my walk, everyone I meet on days like see seem so much brighter, lots of dog walkers out today

What a lovely thread.

What made us happy may seem small by comparison.

We finally found a civil servant who was able and willing to help my husband get online to all government sites plus his online bank using the new security device issued by the Danish government.

First he had to wait months for one, then he twice got through to a most unhelpful person who refused to take into account that he found her instructions as to what to do on the computor difficult to follow.

Why didn't I do it for him, you ask?

Because by law I am not allowed to have access to his codes!

Now everything is sorted, so we have been able to check his bank account, digital post-box and his Income tax return, No really unpleasant surprises anywhere, so we are greatly relieved.

Digital post is ordinarily a good thing, as it is far quicker than snail-mail, and you don't need to be at home to check it, but this new security device has been a maddening experience.

Yesterday Spring had come here, today it gave place to winter again, but the sun is shining. It is just very cold outside,

Yesterday I gave the kitchen a deep clean and sorted all the cupboards. Today as a reward I had a walk in the sunshine to have my nails done.

Nothing makes me happier for the day than when I wake up to sunshine, even if there is a frost on the ground! It's happened 4 days in a row now and I'm practically delirious grin,

I've just cime back from a lovely walk with friends round the Blenheim Estate. Brilliant clear blue sky, sunshine, ducks, narcissi - fantastic!

Yesterday I looked after my 6 year old granddaughter and 2 things made me smile. We were looking at the catkins on some silver birch trees and she told me, confidently, that they looked like ‘calipatillers’. ‘Oh caterpillars’ I said. ‘Yes, that’s right’ she said ‘calipatillers’. I’m afraid they will always be called ‘calipatillers’ in the family now! I then spent about 10 minutes playing a guessing came with her where I needed to guess an animal she’d though of beginning with ‘n’. It turned out to be a nunicorn.

Yesterday a dog walk very early as the sun came up followed by an hour spent in the greenhouse sowing seeds was bliss, it’s the little things that give so much pleasure, isn’t it?

I am part way through a deep clean of the kitchen and I’m loving seeing the results of my hard labour grin

Yes my day was joyful and productive in the garden culminating in a visit to the tip. Simple and inexpensive joy indeed.

Predictive text!! Should read... Present at her birth!!!

Aldom Mon 03-Apr-23 20:45:50

Today is my granddaughter's 18th birthday. I've spent a happy day with her and my family. Present opening this morning, followed by lunch at a delightful Indian restaurant in Oxford. Eighteen years ago I was present at her birthday. Her parents very thoughtfully asked me to cut the umbilical cord. I felt very privileged to have that honour. I had been widowed exactly five weeks previously. This was a precious moment, never to be forgotten. When my granddaughter was tiny she used to point to her tummy button and say, 'You made this'. smile

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 03-Apr-23 20:43:04

Gave out lots of chocolate eggs to children at foodbank today - to lots of big smiles!

Katyj Mon 03-Apr-23 20:39:43

Aveline Thank you. Foxgloves flowers

Foxygloves Mon 03-Apr-23 20:19:43

It will inderd probably have to be an insurance job -my excess is £350, but I just want it done and dusted and behind me!

crazyH Mon 03-Apr-23 20:13:46

My first GS (21) dropped by to see me. I don’t see him as often as I used to, due to University and golf 😂- but I was so happy to see him.
Sorry to hear about the car mishaps - but, won’t the Insurance companies pay for the damage, unless the excess is so large, it’s not worth claiming.

Aveline Mon 03-Apr-23 20:01:26

Katyj a red letter day for you! Freedom. Enjoy your retirement (once you get used to it)
Foxygloves what rotten bad luck. thanks

Redrobin51 Mon 03-Apr-23 19:50:18

Helped put a a coffee morning to help and raise some funds and we did better than expected. Then managed to do some little jobs I had been putting off so pleased I had at last got them put of the way. I then got my lounger out and read my book club book which I am quite enjoying. It was wonderful to see the sun and the spring flowers blooming.

Maggiemaybe Mon 03-Apr-23 19:32:05

We’ve been to a little lunch party for DGS6’s third birthday. It was a delight and even if I say so myself, the gluten-free, dairy-free cake I made for him was not only edible, it was delicious! shock

Blondiescot Mon 03-Apr-23 19:30:50

Foxygloves

I wish I did.
I managed to scrape my car getting out of a tight parking space at the weekend. Negligible damage to mine - I would not have noticed it(!)and certainly heard and felt nothing at the time, but apparently I am going to have to fork out for a new bumper, a rear light cover (or the whole bliddy light) and a bit of a re spray. The other car belongs to neighbours of my friend who I had been visiting.
I freely admit that I was at fault but grrrrr.
It’s going to take an awful lot of sunshine and daffodils to cheer me up after just being *so stupid*

I can sympathise there, foxygloves. Neighbour has managed to reverse into the back of my car - only months after his son did exactly the same thing. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be too much damage, but we'll have to get it checked over to see how much it's going to cost.
