DH is always losing things, some nuts and screws for a boat he's building (model), theyvwere bought specially, gone!
His glasses case goes missing 2 or 3 times a week.
Lately, whilst having a major sort out, I've been finding things I'd forgotten I had, even things I didnt know i had, it's a bit like Christmas.
Maybe I've had a visit from the borrowers.

St Anthony heard my prayers and led DH to where they were.

It had to be DH didn't it? They were in his study, in a drawer that we didn't search. Why? because we thought the container was too deep for the drawer.

So, our little friends The Borrowers, will have to find another source of power.

I hope for all of you, that the other Lost Things may soon come to light.

Aldom

Glorianny

One pair of sunglasses missing. I definitely had them on Monday. Trying to imagine what the Borrowers are using them for.

The Borrowers have headaches, hence the need for sunglasses! grin

But it is well known that the Borrowers are smaller than us and these are big sunglasses. So either they are sharing them-one lens each, or they are using them for something else. I suspect they are building some sort of shelter on my patio for when the sunny weather arrives.

Esmay I think you'll find that the missing socks have mysteriously transformed into Tupperware lids that belong to nothing you own!

The borrowers come to my father's house and they take one shoe .
They followed me from my old house .
I don't know what they do with one shoe .It must be a new home for them .

I tried to pre - empt this situation by putting all my shoes in clear plastic shoe boxes and stacking them neatly in the wardrobe .
This hasn't outwitted them .
At the moment , I have a bag of eight shoes without mates .
Black is their favourite colour and trainers/plimsols their preferred design . And Primart their favourite shop .

Yesterday , I had a tidy up the sock day .
Can these borrowers have helped themselves to socks ?
This time, they seem to like polka dots , stripes and florals , but black grounds are preferred .

My glasses are another favourite .
I buy the cheap ones to replace them .
I think that the borrowers are building something very exciting with them .

AGA4, the dinner plate is needed to carry the coaster and the paracetamol.
BlueBelle, your tape is required to stick down things that might slip off the above plate.
GSM, the little borrowers lost their ball, so borrowed yours.
Daisymae, one of the borrowers shaved off his beard.
BigRed18, has your DD finished with her Game Boy yet?
Norah have the GC and GGC found mine?
Cornergran, have you looked behind the fridge?
Nannytopsy any BBQ's or bonfires been lit recently at yours?
B9exchange, perhaps The Borrowers know that cling film is easier to use after being in the fridge.
Caramme, your specs are needed for short sighted Borrowers.
Midgey, see above.
Glorianny, sunny weekend forecast, therefore sunglasses req'd.

Still no batteries have been found here.

Two pairs of glasses missing here, they were around last week!

Caramme Sat 08-Apr-23 18:15:05

My varifocals. Completely vanished. Back to wearing last year’s bi-focs. I have ordered a new pair so am expecting the lost ones to magically materialise on the day I pick the new ones up.

B9exchange Sat 08-Apr-23 18:14:29

I think the Borrowers must have a series of headaches, we too have lost a packet of paracetamol. And I would like to know why they hid the cling film in the fridge?

Nannytopsy Sat 08-Apr-23 18:09:49

Anyone seen my box of matches? I need them for the candles in church tomorrow at 9.30!

cornergran Sat 08-Apr-23 18:02:36

Sorry no batteries. If anyone comes across two red key tags, each with two keys, can we please have them back? They fit two of our sheds. Mr C had them in his hand when he came through the front door. Where they are now is a mystery. We’ve looked in all the likely and unlikely places -including the fridge. I’m hoping St Anthony will save our collective sanity. The spare keys have saved breaking and entering, just hope they don’t disappear. grin.

Norah Sat 08-Apr-23 17:40:07

Auntieflo Have you had The Borrowers recently? Have they brought you some batteries? If so, we would very much like them back please.

You know our grandchildren and great grandchildren scamps, round most every day, they have our batteries, I'll ask after yours. grin hmm

Bigred18 Sat 08-Apr-23 17:22:15

I couldnt get tv remote to work, discovered daughter had taken batteries for her Game Boy - some years ago!

Daisymae Sat 08-Apr-23 17:18:47

My husband lost his shaver, looked everywhere, forgot about St. Anthony! He had to buy a replacement, I think that he binned it by mistake 😀

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 08-Apr-23 16:58:21

I haven’t found the batteries or other missing items I’m afraid. We are however missing a dog’s ball, fortunately not her favourite. Looked everywhere. Fortunately not chewable! Purple if you should find it. Thankfully the demon Amazon supplies replacements very quickly.

BlueBelle Sat 08-Apr-23 16:16:58

I lost some black electrical tape that I needed recently, hunted high and low eventually after days found it, used it, and thought I d put it back where I always keep it, but it’s gone again, hunted high and low, …ll and there’s only me here !!!

AGAA4 Sat 08-Apr-23 16:14:38

Sorry no batteries have been brought. The borrowers only take things from here. A dinner plate has disappeared, one coaster and a pack of paracetamol. Do Borrowers have headaches?

Auntieflo Sat 08-Apr-23 16:07:06

I thought we needed new batteries in one of our TV handsets a few days ago.
Well, we have/ had, a box with several different sizes of batteries, in a cupboard in the hall. Could we find it? No. We searched in all the likely places, and all the unlikely places, and it has completely disappeared.
The box is an old, white plastic, 2 litre ice cream tub, with "Batteries" written on the side, so that we could see it, on the shelf, when we needed it.
Where it has gone is a complete mystery.
So today we bought more AA and AAA batteries, in the hope that in the next few days we will find the old ones again.
I have sent a prayer to St.Anthony, he of the lost things, in the hope that he will hear.
Have you had The Borrowers recently? Have they brought you some batteries? If so, we would very much like them back please.
